4 “Fallen” Stars!
The Review:
Fallen was amazing! I loved it! This was my first read by this author and as any reader knows, trying new authors can be a good experience or a not so good experience. Well, in this case, it was ALL GOOD! From the moment this book opens up, I was consumed. The story was creative, riveting and I NEEDED to turn the pages to see what happened next. The writing was incredibly well done and the characters immediately drew me in.
I’m hooked! Simple as that. I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
Story/Characters...
Erin lost her mother at the tender age of twelve. Her father, having lost his fated mate, was drowning in heartbreak and suffering an unknown disease, leaving Erin to grow up way too fast in a world that didn’t always love halflings such as herself. On the night her mother died, a mysterious stranger leaves a condolence note, a rock imbued with comforting magic and some much needed money at her door. It was the first time Erin felt a true connection with someone ... even though she didn’t know who the giver was.
Seven years later, Erin is all grown up. Her father is close to taking his last breath and she fears an uncertain future. She still dreams about the shadow giver and still gets comfort from the gifts he left for her that night, so long ago. When her best friend catches the eye of a notorious womanizer and tabloid bad boy, then turns up dead, Erin is set on a mission to avenge her friend ... until fate steps in and changes the game!
Maddox is royalty, both in blood and in the world they live in. The media loves him, he’s popular, handsome and girls fawn all over him. Living up to the legacy his parents and his older sister have amassed is hard enough, but being used by the people he trusted and by a public who doesn’t really know him, has forced him to wear a mask of indifference. And he was okay with that until fate stepped in and he couldn’t get the one girl that was destined to be his.
I LOVED the way this story played out. Erin’s attitude towards Maddox was fun to read. She was sassy and vehemently opposed to being just another notch on his bedpost. And poor Maddox suffers, which was both exciting and painful to read. He’s had this whole life of privilege and notoriety going for him. He was used to getting what he wanted, until he couldn’t. Erin intrigued him, frustrated him and even hurt him ... all things he wasn’t used to. I enjoyed their interactions and their chemistry. The author did an incredible job with the intensity and the slow build to romance between them - a true enemies to lovers kind of story. They took their time getting to know one another, to find common ground and ultimately to care for one another. Maddox turned out to be the hero his family wanted him to be and Erin’s cold heart thawed and opened to the possibilities around her. And all the while, there’s this insidious mystery going on in the background, ready to destroy Maddox, his family, and Erin, the one girl he’d die to protect.
I enjoyed the sub-characters too! Fallen is a spin-off from another series by this author and I’m very much interested in reading those books so I can see these sub-characters stories from the beginning. But don’t get me wrong. It is a spin-off, but you don't HAVE to read the books in the other series to know what's going on. I just WANT to.
Wish List...
I wish there had been more to the ending. I wanted to see more of what the future held for Erin and Maddox. Erin’s path seemed pretty set. She had a job she loved, she was helping people and she’d found her fated mate. However, I wanted more of what was in store for Maddox. He discovered himself throughout the story and though his future was hinted at and you know he’ll be fine, I wanted a more definitive ending.
Maybe we’ll see them again in future books as side characters in this series. I hope so. I’m not ready to let them go yet, which is a testament to how much I enjoyed their story.

Fallen was fun, a little angsty, sometimes light, sometimes heavy and all the time amazing. I’ve been needing a good PNR for a while and this one did nicely. I’m definitely a fan!

Won’t continue this series…
I bought this book years ago because I loved the previous Regia books that followed the story of Forest and her then blind lifemate, Syrus. I fell in love with their story and they were endearing. Even the secondary characters of those books were lovely and I wanted to read all of their stories so they could get their HEAs.
This book centres on their son, Maddox and his lifemate, Erin. Long story short, I hated both characters. There wasn’t a single moment I thought, ‘Aww, they’re so cute.’ I just hated them and I hated what they represented. Especially given the NUMEROUS conversations and exchanges where BOTH slut shamed women for doing EXACTLY what Maddox was doing. Scratch that, Maddox was worse. Much worse. Yet, he was fine. The women he had affairs with though, were apparently, cheap whores. Erin literally called her best friend a whore for sleeping with Maddox. So yeah, I don’t know about anyone else, but I find it hard to get into a book like that.
Don’t get me started on our supposed hero. He literally slept with women then IMMEDIATELY told them to get out and had REVOLTING conversations with his best friend to comment on how much of s-word they were. 🥴🥴
The storyline surrounding Jarvis was pointless - everyone knew how it would have ended and it brought no angst, just further disgust for the lead.
Though I enjoyed the prior trilogy, this will be where this new series ends for me.

This is one of those books that wasn't perfect, yet I enjoyed it so thoroughly that I can't possibly give it a lower rating. My pitter-pattering heart wouldn't allow it. I was entirely consumed by this story and I finished it in a single sitting.
My first thought after finishing this book, apart from loving it, was that this story could have been so epic if it had been told over more than one book. It has all of the feels that a good story should have, but I felt that the execution of things was a little too rushed. Some things felt a little too glossed over where details and development could have really set this apart. If this same story arc had been stretched out and things were added to "thicken" things up and expand upon certain aspects of the story then I think this would have been absolutely perfect. The story was a little too fast-paced for my liking. The only thing that felt remotely well-paced was the romantic aspect of the story. So there is a good solid plot in this book, but I felt like there were gaps that could have been filled in more.
The world-building could have been better. The scenes were atmospheric enough, but I needed to know more about this fantasy world as a whole. I know that this book is set in an existing book world, but things should have been explained better for those that have not read that series. I felt a little lost since I have not read The Legends of Regia series.
While I enjoyed the writing, for the most part, I felt that it read more like a Young Adult story when I was expecting something a little more mature. The characters are New Adult age but the writing made them seem younger. I mean, they were both saying "Oh my gosh" and it didn't sit right with me. I don't know of any adult talking like that.
The characters are quite enjoyable in this book. I liked them all. Even the main villain. I did feel like the characters could have been fleshed out more though. While I understood their motives and their goals, some of the characters I did not feel on an emotional level. I did enjoy their interactions and chemistry.
I really enjoyed the romance in this book. I think this is the strongest thing about this book. The romance really is good. It is a one-sided hate-to-love trope and it really works. It was written quite well. I only felt that adding more "content" to the romance and the characters would have strengthened the romance even more. It is quite convincing on its own, but it had all the makings of something even more incredible. This goes back to my previous comments on lengthening the book to include more character and plot development. Everything is there and it works and is enjoyable, but it is simply the difference between a great story and an epic one. I also felt that the romance was a little too juvenile. There is sex in the book, but it is not descriptive and it is mostly fade to black scenarios. I can understand that for upper young adult books, but these are adults that have been life mated/bonded. Not showing the intimacy between them does the characters and the romance no justice.
I felt that the villains in the book were revealed too quickly. There was no surprise at all. I wouldn't even say it was predictable because they are clearly put on display at the beginning of the book. I also felt that there needed to be more involved with the boss fight at the end of the book. I felt a little disconnected from it. I think that a little more character development throughout the book could fix this though. I wanted to feel more compelled to hate the villains, but I just didn't feel them at all.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend this book! I was sucked into this story from the beginning and I enjoyed every moment. If you enjoy a light paranormal romance then you'd love this one! I am eager to explore The Legends of Regia series and get to know some of what happened prior to this book. I will also be continuing this series.

Story for younger readers, a fairy tale with a focus on morality. It does have some non descriptive love scenes. The H is a member of a family of high achievers, he's aimless, insecure and has fallen into bad habits, made bad friends and even his family know he is a man-whore. For some odd reason, they seem to almost laugh it off. He is a leader with no sense of morality, he's selfish, arrogant and over indulged. The h is poor, she too is arrogant and believes she's better than than the H. When the couple realise their connection is permanent, she decides to punish him. They both learn valuable lessons, good overcomes evil. I didn't like either lead character.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this book when I was offered the opportunity to do an ARC. I wasn't familiar with the author or her previous books, but the plot was kinda up my alley so to speak.
Now having read it, I found I honestly REALLY liked it. The characters, the plot line, the setting - all of it works to create a great read. I liked the romance of it all of course, but there's intrigue and mystery thrown in too. I never found myself lost once I began the first few pages and it didn't take me long to get hooked.
I basically couldn't stop reading it till I got to the end, which for me is the worst part - it ended. I am lead to believe there is more future in this series which will help make the fact that the book had to end easier.
I won't spoil anything for you, but you should read it if you like romance or paranormal romance specifically...if you've read from the author before I would assume that this would be a great addition (of course I haven't read from her before) but from all the many many books I read this is one I plan on recommending to friends and to all those who read this review.
It's an easy read, you don't get lost in the mix and there's no major boring moments I could've lived without. It's well written, characters make sense (you don't question the reality of their emotions/thoughts) and I found the setting/world the author created to be totally unique adding more interest too.

Erin knows of Maddox by reputation and she has no interest in ever meeting him. Maddox is a playboy with a famous family. When her best friend Selena goes out with him, Erin warns her that he’s going to use her and lose her- which he does. And Selena kills herself with his name carved in her wrists.
Erin has little to live for, her mother is dead, father is dying, and now she’s lost her best friend. All she has is her anger. So she decides she’s going to make Maddox pay. And to his surprise and her horror, they are fated mates.
I really enjoyed this story. Maddox is a party boy at the beginning, and his family is pretty disgusted with him. He can do better, and they all know it. Maddox needs a serious wake up call, and being investigated for murder of a girl he slept with once is certainly one. He starts to change his ways before he meets Erin. But meeting his fated soulmate and her being disgusted by him hurts him deeply.
“The fact destiny chose you for me has been the greatest honor of my life. It will haunt me as long as I live, that you couldn’t stand me. And that was my fault. And I did so much damage there was nothing to salvage.”
This is set in a previously established fantasy series, but I wasn’t lost. I suspect if I had read the previous series I would have liked seeing the other characters.
It was a different version of the fated mates trope, where the guy falls hard for her but she can’t stand him. I enjoyed both of their character development, especially Maddox who started off horrible but changes his ways.

The first 20% or so of this book were great, addicting even. From there, however, it went dooooooooownhill.
The rest was really kinda bad? The story was rushed, poorly-developped, the writing sort of read like a fanfiction in places, some stuff didn't even make sense, the dialogue was weird a lot of the time and some of the characters were super flat (including the main ones).
What sucks is that in that first 20%, this book really did have potential...but it missed the mark entirely for me.

This book really surprised me. It was waaaay better than I anticipated. The only thing is I felt like I was missing something when reading it and found out it's a spin off. So now I have to go back and read those but the magic was lost a little.

Se qué hay una historia principal atrás de esta nueva saga pero no tengo cabeza para aventurarme tan al fondo para Tesla y los otros.
La narración es curiosa y emotiva, hay momentos que confusa, en especial cuando los protagonistas se conocen y te desconcierta como narran su encuentro. Además hay unas dos veces que llegas a sacarte de onda de partes que creías que estaban en otro tiempo, como la escena del árbol que nace de la tumba del amigo.
Con todo, me atrapo y me dieron unas ganas de seguir leyendo; un punto muy a favor de esto es la manera en que la autora desarrolló la historia de los protagonistas, Maddox & Erin.
Si, M inicia siendo un fiestero, mujeriego con aire de sufrido que nadie entiende y va lastimando a la personas; Erin inicia como la que no lo traga para después ser una persona casi cruel por lastimarlo por rabia.
Ambos no se aman a la primera pero el lazo que los unió no les deja otra cosa que ser honestos, una arma de doble filo.
La trama es sencilla, en esta nos plantean el de un asesinato en serie para desacreditar a Maddox, con un trasfondo político algo mediocre.
Lo que me encanto:
• ♠️ La evolución que tuvo la relación de los protas.
• ♠️ El mundo es una mezcla de mágico-fantástico-tecnológico, algo que no avía leído.
• ♠️ La familia de Maddox y su amiga Mel, el tipo no tiene trasfondo oscuro o perturbador para ser idiota, y la relación con esta es muy linda, realmente vemos unión familiar.
• ♠️ Un libro ligero y entretenido para la nochecita.
Se qué hay una historia principal atrás de esta nueva saga pero no tengo cabeza para aventurarme tan al fondo para Tesla y los otros.
La narración es curiosa y emotiva, hay momentos que confusa, en especial cuando los protagonistas se conocen y te desconcierta como narran su encuentro. Además hay unas dos veces que llegas a sacarte de onda de partes que creías que estaban en otro tiempo, como la escena del árbol que nace de la tumba del amigo.
Con todo, me atrapo y me dieron unas ganas de seguir leyendo; un punto muy a favor de esto es la manera en que la autora desarrolló la historia de los protagonistas, Maddox & Erin.
Si, M inicia siendo un fiestero, mujeriego con aire de sufrido que nadie entiende y va lastimando a la personas; Erin inicia como la que no lo traga para después ser una persona casi cruel por lastimarlo por rabia.
Ambos no se aman a la primera pero el lazo que los unió no les deja otra cosa que ser honestos, una arma de doble filo.

I'll never get tired of Regia and praise Tenaya for bringing her world back to us! Her imagination is incredible and her world is a welcomed escape from reality.
Fallen takes place 20 yrs after the Regian war with the Wizards and is about Forest and Syrus's son, Maddox. His mother, father, sister, even his grandfather's are well known...famous! The family is wealthy, but who is he? He doesn't have his family's cool brand of power, and he's not disciplined enough to become a Master of the Blood Kata. He settles into the wealthy playboy lifestyle, but, is that truly satisfying? When one of his one-night-stands turns up dead of an apparent suicide, could he have crossed the line and murdered her? Fate steps in and destiny rears its head and Maddox has to step up.
I love that Tenaya allows her world to live on in the Shadows of Regia, and it's a perfect beginning! We get to meet Maddox and Merick and Netriet's daughter Melina. We get to interact with Tesla again, and boy she has been busy advancing Regian technology! We get a glimpse of what Journey's been up to. Forest, Syrus, Kindel, Redge and X show up for brief visits...Even Fluffy makes a short appearance in Fallen. Tenaya has a way of bringing out the emotion. I cried, I worried and I found myself hoping. Fallen is an amazing read!!! It is the perfect continuation of our beloved Regia! I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next!

I love the tension and interplay in this novel about loss, anger, vengeance and love. When life shot Erin in the heart as a child she saw someone who melded their way into her heart. Then loss hits her and puts her on the path she never thought she would take. Her life shifts and so does all she knows. The author takes us n this very private journey of self reflection. What's more important, that's what she has to ask herself. He makes he see things she hadn't seen and want what she shouldn't. She makes him better. He has tossed his privilege around and she makes him want more. The way this author builds her characters you're apart of the story, the discovery from the start. Fast paced action and intrigue and yes betrayal and love. Just full of all kinds of goodies from this author I have not read before and I do plan on reading more of her work.

Great, fun read! This is a world I want to escape to
I won a copy of this book in a competition and this is the first book from Tenaya Jayne I've read, although I haven't read any of the the previous books leading up to this new branch of the Regia world I have to say I Thoroughly enjoyed it and I will now pick up the others and devour them in one sitting also 😂. Although this series has adult content it is done with class and is not at all smutty. The story line was fantastic and I liked the fact we find out who the killer is early on in the book and we get to see and hear his motives. I would of liked to learn a little more about jaris but I'm assuming there is some info on him in the previous series. I do feel like I was seeing the bigger picture because I didn't know the characters like an avid reader of TJ so I think things will make more sense to me once I've read them. Over all it was a easy, interesting read and I'm eager for more.

Tenaya is one of my favourite authors, she really brings me into her world (a world I want to live in!). I loved that we went back to Regia after the original series ended. I also really like that we get to meet Maddox who's now an adult and gets into quite a lot of trouble....but who doesn't like a bad boy ;)
I would recommend you to read this book and if you haven't already read her other Regia books!

I was a huge fan of the original seven books and just this author in general, so of course I jumped at the chance to review!
The plot:
The development of Erin and Maddox’s relationship was amazing. I think their story arc was actually the best one this author has written yet. She did a fantastic job pacing the characters’ personal growth and their inner insecurities/complexities. I was truly impressed.
I docked this book by half a star because of the anticlimatic resolution to the antagonist(s). The main villain of the story had a great deal of potential, but I really felt it wasn’t carried through. I’ve seen the author can do so much better and I was a little disappointed. However, the book was a wholesale success otherwise and I think this trilogy is off to a strong start.
The characters:
Erin has a great deal of conflict in her character, especially with regard to her bond with Maddox. The suspense with her character was nearly overwhelming, but that made it that much better. I appreciated that she had as much character development as Maddox and grows the same as he does.
Maddox has some glaringly obvious character flaws, but the potential for decency are clearly present from the beginning. His reform wasn’t instantaneous like some PNR heroes and I was SO GRATEFUL.
We also get to see some of the original series’ couples’ married lives and it was so sweet! It’s great to have a snapshot of the world 20 years after it was saved, if nothing else. Not all the problems are solved and there are some new ones, but you can see how the struggles of the original series paid off.
The world of Regia is back with a new generation and a new series you don’t want to miss!

I received an ARC for an honest review. This is a very good book with a lot of details setting the scene to put you in the story rather then an outsider looking in. She also did a wonderful job at transitioning from one POV to another so you were in their thoughts, in their feelings, truly in their skin. Definitely not your typical fairytale, manwhore, paranormal. First book I have read by this author and definitely would read another.

What an amazing imagination!
The word Fallen you can assume many ideas. However this title uses its many definitions in its entirety. Former Prince of Regia, Maddox is a playboy who loves to a party complete with drugs and sex however he is framed for murder. Hence fallen from stature. Since Regia is now a republic instead of a monarch, there is no royal titles even if Maddox is of royal blood. So he's a local celebrity who unexpectedly meets his destined mate Erin. Hence fallen in love. But the problem is she hates Maddox's guts. She blames Maddox for the death of her best friend Selena and this story keeps escalating. I'm glad the author provided a character summary at the beginning of this book. This attention to detail allowed clarity since I haven't read any other books within this series - significant of what character is whom and their role. Several fun lines that had me chuckling and I always enjoyed a happily ever after.

A great start for a new series to obsess over!
Maddox uses his celebrity status to lure girls to his bed. Then he dumps them without another thought. It's just a way to cope with the fact that he isn't the warrior his father hoped he would be, nor the mage everyone expected. Yet, when one of his conquests winds up dead with his name on her wrists, he's suspect #1. And even if the authorities clear him, public opinion might not be so forgiving to the playboy.
When Erin learns her best friend has supposedly committed suicide, she doesn't believe it for a second. She knows her friend was murdered and Erin is sure that Maddox is guilty. The problem? When Erin tries to enact revenge on Maddox, she discovers her life mate is none other than the manwhore in question. Determined to escape him and their mating, she will do whatever it takes to get her revenge first. But nothing and no one are what they seem...
I have to admit that I wasn't sure about this book at first. Reading the blurb, it seemed like an easy story to understand and since it was the first of the series, I didn't expect it to be so complex. There is a list of definitions and people at the beginning of the book. I highly recommend reading this before starting the story. I didn't and had to go back to read it once I realized how deep this story goes. Apparently, it's a spin-off series to a larger one already concluded.
It wasn't just the intensity of the fantasy world that gave me pause at the start. Maddox was a total jerk in the beginning. I really wanted to smother him, even though I know he was written this way for a reason. You have to dislike his behavior to appreciate the way he changes throughout the book. The first chapters are of him hitting rock bottom. After he realized his mistakes, he began to grow on me.
The whole soulmating process shocked me. It was pretty intense, but I can't really complain about it. I was intrigued by how deeply the couple's connection was. Sensing each other's feelings was pretty cool, especially when they were trying to figure each other out. The romance was steamy and I ate up every word of it. From the rocky start, I really am surprised by how much I loved this book.
One thing I think the author could have done a better job in was explaining just where we were when the book began. To be honest, I had no real idea if this Regia was a medieval place or a futuristic place or present day but maybe in an alternate realm. There is technology mentioned, but I needed some description of the structures to help me visualize where I was since I've never visited Regia before.
In closing...
I'm looking forward to reading the next installment and getting another dose of steamy soulmating. Five suns!

I felt like reading a good ol’ soulmate trope to help me on a down day, and found Fallen as a recommendation on a Goodreads list. I was rather apprehensive as there aren’t many reviews but, it was free with Kindle Unlimited so I thought: why not? Let’s give it a go, even if it’s not great, I’m in the trope mood and it’ll pull me through.
I am just… in absolute awe. This book was amazing??? Tenaya is so talented, and I’m just wondering why on EARTH this only has 577 ratings when some other works have thousands upon thousands and well, just aren’t it, to be honest.
Although I haven’t read the original series that Fallen is a spin-off too, there were no points of confusion, and I absolutely fell in love with both Maddox and Erin. I would protect them with my life, honestly, the most precious beings ever. Literally comedic duo with the “I hate you!” and “You’re mine” farewells when the two of them first found out, I can’t even. And I FINALLY have a book where there’s a character with my name who I love rather than struggle to tolerate? Melina, you put honour to the Mel nickname. You’re amazing, sweetie, and everyone needs a friend like you.
I’m still processing everything because honestly this book has just latched into me. It’s very rare that I rate five stars but Fallen just blew me away and now I can’t get back up again!!! I can’t wait to continue their journey.
This book is underrated to the MAX !! Please give it a read. Soulmate trope mixed with enemies to lovers and the supernatural??? Absolute literary BLISS.

Ready for book 2!
Oh my gosh...oh my gosh...oh my gosh! Loved it! This story lured me in and held me prisoner. I couldn't put it down. I got nothing else done. It was so worth it! Wow was there a lot of wreckage to steer through with Maddox's life style and poor choices. However, his character was full of layers upon layers and the more layers we peel away the more my heart liked him. Which was surprising because at first I didn't like him. Not at all. Then Erin...what to do about her? I liked her morals. Class act. I didn't like her low self esteem and doubt. Her whole brief meet and greet short lived relationship with Jaris was just creepy. Seriously...who seeks comfort from a guy she barely knows when close friends and family are available? Yeah...glad his storyline went where it did. The whole plot was just utterly intriguing. The mix of characters and their abilities were captivating, fresh and unique. The love of life mates and honoring that role in this story was satisfying. I read a lot of books about "fated mates" and how their importance is primal. Everything. However, not many authors really continue to honor it in their story. They make that relationship a joke and its disappointing. Not here. It's the exact opposite! Mates are everything they are suppose to be. LOVE that!

I really did not like this book. I tried so hard to get into it and I just couldn't. I t was just so blah. Way too many characters to keep track of, with hardly any of them worth caring about. Maddox is the most annoying, asshole character I have ever read. He's meant to be that way, but dear god at least make him somewhat likeable by the end of this book. I don't care how many times there was a point to make him redeemable, he would just do or say -or not do depending on the situation- something else that would make me hate him again. Our "villain" is revealed not even 20% of the way through, and it was so predictable as well since the moment we get, vaguely, introduced to this character. Erin was by far my favorite part of the book. She was likeable most of the time, and she was definitely the smartest. However, she does some pretty dumb things that her earlier self in the book would never do. She changed as the book went further and I started to feel like Erin wasn't Erin anymore.
I just couldn't stand this book. I can tell by other reviews that people love this, but I just don't. My review may seem very pessimistic, but this is just exactly how I feel. I was actually really intrigued by the blurb, but seeing the names of every single character and who, and what, they are just started me off with a sour taste. When I say every character, I mean Every. Single. Character. That was my warning that this would be a mess for me.

Very intriguing with a few irritations *possible spoiler*
Very interesting take on the fae world, and through there's a lot of info about the characters thrown at you, it's easy to keep track and understand. I do agree with a previous reviewer, though, that not a whole lot happened in the first few chapters, other than characters being introduced.
So why the 3 stars? It's very immature at times with things that were said and done without fully developing the thought or action. The lead female is weak and cries over everything. Even after she's fiiinnnallly agreed to be with her lifemate (I'll skip the parts, the MANY parts, where their coming together is extremely drawn out with a ton of "but I can't be with you..." ), she wakes up in the middle of the night crying bc she feels like she's inadequate compared to all the other chicks he's been with. Then the part where she tried to compensate for her self proclaimed inadequacies, so she dresses up in a naughty school girl get up. It was just weird for me and I just wanted to slap some sense into her half way through.
The love scenes aren't overly descriptive, so it's sort of PG 13 in the romance. I will say, though, that the author wrote the "rain" scene beautifully, however.
Also, I'm bummed that the next book isn't a continuation, but about different people within that realm, so to speak. Still a decent read, so I'd still recommend reading!

Sucked in by a great blurb and who am I kidding... a very appealing cover, this was the first book I read by the author. And I must say, I enjoyed it!
The story started out very strong, the author built a great world with enough of ours in the mix so we didn't need to break our heads trying to imagine it all, the cast was diverse and well developed.
The middle part... yeah I really wasn't a fan of that, I know it was needed for the continuation and setting of the story but the love/hate between Maddox and Erin was getting verrry tedious at some points. Nearly gave up on it.
But I didn't... and the last part of the book was great! We had action, yes romance as well, but action! There were loads of situations that had me laughing but most of it was me glued to my Kindle and wanting to know how it ended.
All in all a very smooth and enjoyable read, if you can get past the love/hate part in the middle, you're golden!
And yes, I kinda read this waaaaaaay out of order, I didn't even know there was another series before this one, but other then the characters that return in the book, I didn't feel like had to absolutely read those first. It would have made sense.. but well, they're now also on my TBR pile... oh boy :D

All in all a very smooth and enjoyable read, if you can get past the love/hate part in the middle, you're golden!
And yes, I kinda read this waaaaaaay out of order, I didn't even know there was another series before this one, but other then the characters that return in the book, I didn't feel like had to absolutely read those first. It would have made sense.. but well, they're now also on my TBR pile... oh boy :D

I read this authors first stories about Forest a few years ago and I remember really enjoying it.
I picked this book remembering when I was younger how much I loved the previous books and also due to the stunning cover.
Honestly I struggled with this book. I hated the way the females in the book tossed the word “slut” and “whore” around to describe other females in the story that had literally done nothing wrong it was toxic and just horrible. I also there was so much teenage drama and angst that I felt was completely unnecessary.
The murder in the story we found out who the culprit within the first 20% or so into the book?????
and I just felt like saying to the author “WHY?! you could have made it such a better story leaving a bit of mystery!!”
Maybe I realise I’ve grown up since enjoying the previous books, I don’t know I just feel like this story was too immature.

This was a great book in general. I just knocked off a star for preference: I do not prefer YA/ YAish romance stories. I don't mind them in the scope of a great story, or in perspective, but not preferable. Second pretty significant thing, it appears The Shadows of Regia's novelty can most certainly get lost without the backstories (The Legends of Regia), I had to put my memory to the test a few times to appreciate some things. Thanks for the initial character list btw.
What you will possibly hate: the dramatic and extended romantic back and forth.
What you will possibly love: a YA romantic suspense if you are younger, or if you love YA romance. Or, you will enjoy an extension of the Regia series, and keeping up with new business of beloved characters (like I did).

Easy fantasy, everything I predicted happened. When there was a conflict or I was starting to be stressed about some misunderstanding it got solved quickly.
But there is one thing that I didn’t enjoy. In my opinion Erin was changing her mind way too quickly. (Spoiler) She hated Maddox because of how Selena died, she wanted revenge and at the same time started falling in love with him. Time flew so fast in every moment and suddenly she changed the way she saw him. Suddenly she realised that he was the victim.
And maybe it’s just me but when they were talking about who owns who and Maddox told Erin ,,you’re mine” I really cringed. Maybe it’s just the bisexuality in me but this man-hunter-owner talk was too big turn down :D.
Anyways very quick read and great for relax.

I loved the world building in Fallen. I think this story would have been good in any setting, but it being in another world with supernatural species with powers and advanced tech made it that much better.
I thought the heroine was annoying at times but she's meant to be confused so you can chalk it up to adding tension. I thought the mystery added a lot to the story line though maybe the suspense could have been better.
I did enjoy this story and I would read more in this series and books by this author.

It was the cover 😑 i sometimes choose books based on the cover. With this one the plot had potential to my mind it really did and so i tried finishing it. But it was too predictable, like you know from the get-go who the villain was. It was horrible! You get to a point where you're just waiting for the climax of the story where this person either gets killed or gets beaten up badly and then you're done. It doesn't help the fact that Erin the protagonist of the story was just hella annoying. She was confused indecisive and well a damsel in distress. I tried i really did 😢
