IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE LAST PARTY OF THE SUMMER—NOT OF BLAIRE’S LIFE.
After spending a summer learning 'good values' through hard work at her first part-time job her parents insisted she get, Blaire Stevens is looking forward to spending some much needed time letting loose with her best friend, Grace, as they dance the night away. But her perfect night of freedom turns deadly in one blinding, soul-shattering moment of destruction.
When Blaire awakens, she finds herself in an extremely plain hospital room, and her doctor has the worst bedside manner possible as Blaire searches for answers on what happened. When it all comes rushing back to her, she finds herself on the other side of the barrier… where an entire realm of ghosts maintain the balance between life and death.
Blaire must learn what it takes to be Ghosted, where everything is different. But as she begins to learn her place in this new realm, not everything is as it seems. Aiden Briar, her emerald-eyed wallflower from that fateful night her life came crashing to an end, comes with a past that will haunt Blaire for the rest of her eternity… if she even survives that long.
Life hasn't always been the smoothest ride, and that's okay because it led me here. When life brought me down, it was always reading that brought me back up. And now, I'm in the process of publishing my first book. Maybe someday it will be one of my books that shield the rays of loneliness from a tortured soul. Until then, I'll continue writing because life gets a whole lot brighter when you choose to look at the glass half full of possibilities rather than half empty.
I really liked the concept for this one! It had such an intriguing premise and I really enjoyed reading it. However, it definitely could have used another beta read and edit before publication. If you're looking for a new and interesting paranormal story? This is the book for you!
This book was on my list for a bit and it was as good as I was expecting and hoping for. I really enjoyed the world the author created here. I have to admit that I was never attracted to the topic of ghosts, but this book completely changed my mind. The setting and the world were intriguing and interesting. The characters were well developed and lovable. There was fun and love, and there was pain and loss. The main character Blaire is a wonderful, compassionate, and loving character. She is also determined, rational, independent, and strong. I really liked her from the first moment. Aiden I liked a bit less, but I think that has something to do with him being mostly on the sidelines. Charlie i fell in love with, as I did with the rest of the group. I have to mention that this book has an open ending and that I was so happy to have the next book available because I started reading it immediately. Also i should put a warning label that readers expecting a happy ending might be somewhat disappointed, however, this is not a standalone but a series. If that part is okay with you, then I recommend this book wholeheartedly. I enjoyed it immensely. Haunted is the second book n the series.
A great idea for a story. I had really high hopes for Ghosted. I really love paranormal novels that create a whole new world that hasn’t been played out a million times. I was really hoping this book would be that for me. It was to a point, but it also fell short for me. This book has mystery, tragedy, romance, and friendship. The plot of this book is what drew me in. When tragedy strikes, Blaire’s whole life changes. She goes from being a high schooler enjoying the last party of the summer to waking up in a strange new world. As she is acclimated into this new world on the other side of the barrier, changes occur, and secrets arise. Can she trust this new world and the people sworn to help her? I liked Blaire well enough. She is a strong character. She didn’t let this new world and the tragedy of what happened before break her. She remained as level headed as one can be when joining a new world she knew nothing about. I liked her character. The one character I didn’t really care for? Aiden. I found him weak from the very first scene. I like my men all alpha and he just wasn’t that for me. So this is probably a personal thing for me, but I didn’t like him so much. This book isn’t about heat, but there is some nice, heart-warming scenes between Aiden and Blaire. There was a nice build up to their friendship. This area of the book was perfect for what this book is. I cannot say anything negative about this area. I really wanted to love this book. The world that the author created is interesting. Interesting enough to keep me reading to then end, even if I did struggle. I felt that this book could have used some more cohesion. At times, I felt the author just typed on and on describing stuff that I misses interaction with the characters. Otherwise, this book was good. Overall, I didn’t love this book, but I didn’t hate it either. It just didn’t blow my hair back the way I would have liked. I do think that the author created a world for the characters that was interesting and unique. I just didn’t connect with the characters as I would have liked. I personally wouldn’t read this book again, but I would say give it your own try. Ratings: Plot: 4/5 Characters: 3/5 Heat: 5/5 Writing Style: 3/5 Overall: 3/5
This is my first book by Kristine Schwartz and also the first book in the My Shattered Soul Saga. The book is written for Young Adults but I enjoyed and am no longer a YA. The characters were very well written as was the whole story.
Seventeen year old Blair goes to the last big party of the summer. The night is supposed to be filled with fun and friends. On the way home the fun is unexpectantly cut short along with Blair's life when a van t-bones her friend's car on the passenger side where Blair is setting.
Blair wakes up in a hospital room. Not knowing where she is or what is going on. A doctor comes in and informs Blair she is what is called Awakened and ghosted. Blair was killed in the car accident but has been one of the chosen to be Ghosted. Blair is told she will be given a coach to teach her how to learn the ways of the ghosted.
As Blair is learning her way around her new Realm, she also learns that she was Ghosted before, and it just so happens that her new Coach and all of her new friends were her friends in her past death, even the man she was deeply in love with is among the group. Blair has no memories of her past ghosted and feels kind of strange knowing all of her friends know her better then she knows herself.
As she is settling into her death, there is someone out to end her death for good this time. Blair and her friend must find a way to save Blair and the rest of their group as well.
I really enjoyed reading this book! It begins with a rather horrendous event...then gives the reader a completely new take on the afterlife. When Blaire discovers this new world, along with the eventual information that she's been a part of a group in a previous point and time...questions start stacking.
I'm so glad I decided to check out this book...the characters definitely pop, and there is definitely plenty of action in this edition. I would recommend this book to fans of ghosts and the fantasy genre from a paranormal & supernatural standpoint. This book is also YA friendly, so feel free to delve in without holding back.
Following a party one fateful night, Blaire’s life is tragically cut short when the vehicle she’s in is involved in an accident. Waking up in a strange room, she is appalled to learn that she has died and must now learn what it means to be ‘ghosted’ in the afterlife.
Upon meeting her coach and friends, Blaire learns that this isn’t the first time she’s been ghosted. In her previous existence, she and Aiden Briar had been in love before she was ruthlessly reset under circumstances of which she has no memory.
Before Blaire can adjust to her new life and tap into her new abilities, she finds her self in danger of being destroyed completely by her old nemesis. Can Blaire save herself and stop his evil machinations?
This book was my first introduction to the author. Ghosts are my favourite genre and this was a unique take on the usual books I’ve read. The author has built an interesting world detailing the way that new souls are acclimated into the afterlife. Their abilities as well as the stages they have to go through. The difference between being ‘reset’ and being ‘rested.’ So many facets seemed to have been merely touched upon and I’m looking forward to exploring those aspects that the author has merely hinted at in the next instalment.
This book was a first for me from this author.. I was sure at the beginning of the book and was a different story line that was used to.. once I got into the book it was a amazing book that I would advice to someone that loves reading about ghosts that are angels and love and have to work to figure out their ghost life.. i can’t wait for the next book as the bad guys are coming and they have to deal with them in the next series.
So I liked this book, I was iffy at the beginning. but it brought a fresh new facet to the YA genre that I haven't read or explored before so I certainly appreciated that. I liked the characters, they were well written and I really enjoyed their backstory. I don't want to give away spoilers and almost everything I want to say has them lol. Best part besides the first kiss was the unlimited clothes!
Ghosted is a book that I found very intriguing and interesting. It's a bit different to what I would normally read, but after reading a bit about what it's about, I thought I'd give it a chance. I'm pleased to say that I'm so glad I did! This is a really good read and definately one that I would recommend as a must read.
The story starts in quite a shocking and tragic way, with the main character, Blaire being killed in an accident and then becoming a ghost. In her new life after death, she must learn all there is to know about being ghosted and about how to behave acceptably in a ghosted society. But of course, things aren't that simple otherwise there would be no story! Blaire finds out that all of her new friends are actually her old friends from the last time she was a ghost, but of course, although they can remember her, she can't remember them. What makes it worse is that Aiden was her soul mate in a previous ghosted life, but she can't remember and feels weird to the point where she doesn't know how to act round him. As if all of this isn't enough to contend with, Blaire is under attack from another group of ghosts who will stop at nothing to destroy her completely.
Ghosted is a great read that is easy to follow and so easy to fall into. I completely loved it and will definately be reading more from this author in future!
I had an advanced reader copy of this book and I'm really sorry to say I couldn't get into it at all :( managed to get about 40% through before I gave up.. maybe it picks up afterwards but I found it was so long winded nothing interesting was happening and for such a unique story I found it was very predictable :(
I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review: Let me start with WOW! I really enjoyed this book and am upset that it is over and there is a wait for the second book! This book took a little while for me to get into but once it picked up it was great and I was unable to put it down!
I give Ghosted 3.5 starts. An interesting new imagining of what happens when we die. Although the writing can be a bit clunky (particularly when attempting romance), the creativity with which Ms. Schwartz delves into the afterlife keeps the reader engaged and excited for the next installment.

Kristine did a phenomenal job with this, it was touch and go for a little at the beginning only because I felt like there was a lot of descriptions in some scenes, but then again she gave me a perfect picture of what she was describing. The MC was fun, sweet, and sometimes she shocked me. I fell in love with the characters, the "love" interest and I honestly can't wait for more.
WOW! First I have read by this author and I believe the first completely ghost story I have read. I really enjoyed it. The story lets you learn what happens when you die and become ghosted. We are learning right along with our recently dead heroine Blair. Interesting concept in a book killing the main character in the prologue that took me be surprise! Her frustrations and successes were interesting to watch but the story got really good when we learned a past connection to her new ghost friends, especially Aiden. Poor girl she is learning this new "life" and all the while there is someone after her and her new friends. That led to an action packed ending that has me wanting the next ASAP! YA is my favorite for paranormal. I feel like it has more impact because the characters are so young. This one has a slight romance element but the focus was definitely on the ghosts.
Although I did enjoy this story and it was full of action, I felt it was lacking a little something at times and failed to keep me immersed in the story.
Concept was Great and New to me. Other World of souls That is The same as ours and ale other things made me devpir this story in one Day! Characters were Full and enteertaining. For sure I made connection with Them and some events were shocking in The end. Im jumping to book 2 right away
I thought that the book was a great read. Yes I did think it was a little long getting started but when it did I couldn't put it down. I think if you like stories that leave this world and take you with it , make you laugh, angry and cry that's got to mean .....its a great read RIGHT I can't wait until book 2 comes out . Way to go Kristine and please keep writing...I need more..
I think the author did a stellar.... Okay, I may be a bit biased, but I'm quite pleased with how well this book turned out. I know the prologue ended up a bit on the longer side, but I felt that it was necessary to give the reader a look into Blaire's world before I took them on an edge of your seat journey. There's a certain spot within the book that I feel there's no going back from, once you hit that chapter, it's just a race to the finish line.
But honestly, I'm really interested in hearing what readers think. That'll be the moment I know if I pulled off what I was aiming for, or if I unintentionally pulled something else off instead. Until then, I'll be over here quietly typing away at Haunted, the second book in the My Shattered Soul Saga.
I really enjoyed this book. I won an ecopy from a giveaway the Author was hosting. I'm glad that I did win. The book was very entertaining and the characters where well written. This is the first time I read a book that takes place in a ghost world. And I thought it was done really well. Just like Blaire, who is new to the Ghosted world, and had has tons of questions about it, I too have so many questions and it was cool going through the journey with her. There is still a lot of questions unanswered but I am looking forward to finding out the answers through out the series. I recommend this book to anyone who loves Paranormal, YA, Fantasy and just a good read!
This was a completely different book to what I have read before. It was an interesting view on the afterlife and once I got into the book and got to the end of it I was very interested in it. Again it isn’t my sort of story that I normally read but I’m glad I attempted reading this book. The ending was not how I expected it to end and it made me wanting more, I can’t wait to read the second book in the series to see what happens next.
*i received a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
I loved it. This story had such a strong effect on the reader. I loved how the more you read the more of the characters history played out. These characters were each very strong in their own way. And I loved how you got multiple characters POV's in the book. I finished this very fast! Hard to put down after picking it up!
Overall it was an amazing read and I can't wait for book 2!
An interesting take on the afterlife. Blaire Stevens wakes up... dead and here the real story begins as she learns to adapt and "live" her new existence while finding herself making friends and becoming a target. I enjoyed the book.
Loved learning about the ghosted world with Blaire. Enjoyable read. Loved each character that was introduced ( Besides a few like James). Loved the teaser at the end for book 2 which I'll be going to read right now.
This book was really good! It's the first I have read from this author and it's not the last! Even though I have read a lot with the theme"wake up being dead" this
