Judd Asher was taken from his front garden when he was just four years old. After an extensive search he was never found. Twenty-one years after a random call out, Judd is found chained and beaten in the basement of an old rundown farmhouse where he has lived the life of an animal for the last twenty-one years.
Kloe Grant is assigned as Judd’s personal therapist. It’s her job to rehabilitate him, to guide him back to normal life. But as Judd’s only emotion is rage, Kloe finds it both heart-breaking and challenging mending a soul that’s not only broken but caged inside him by the demons of his past.
However, when Kloe’s relationship with her patient raises some eyebrows, Kloe can’t fight against the powers that want to see her fail, and with an arm behind her back, she walks away, leaving behind a man who has come to live life again for her.
Four years later Judd, now known as Anderson Cain, the darkest and most formidable cage fighter in a world where violence and crime are the only way to keep breathing, Judd finds there’s not a lot in life that can abate the rage that still twists and prowls beneath his skin. Not until a chance encounter brings him to her door. To the woman with the bluest eyes and the most stunning smile, the woman who took his hand in the darkness and led him through the door into the sun. But Kloe Grant left him when he needed her the most. She took the only shred of hope and trust he had left and annihilated it. She starved his belief, and she fed his fury. She owes him. And he’s going to make sure that this time, she pays. In blood. In lust. In pain. And with her soul.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around this......
I'm sorry but this series is beyond anything I could have ever understood. I wasn't prepared for how dark this story is. I wasn't prepared for how everything came and I wasn't prepared for the impact this story made on me. I don't think D H Sidebottom would know that even though I cringed and felt disgusted at times but I knew I needed to know more of Anderson's end game and especially Kloe but boy was I surprised and like WTF that yes I nearly gave up on this story, but the feelings outweighed the emotions that I wanted Anderson and Kloe to have closure and their HEA, buuuuut I never expected that ending. *sniffs*
Chained and Caged is where it should have ended that's why I rated it 4 stars and wasn't keen on Bound which in my own opinion should have never taken away the intensity of the two main books.
Caged: D.H. sidebottom did it again with this brilliant dark suspense book! Amazing character's; both coming from tortured pasts. A boy stolen and held captive, abused, finally found many years later. A therapist brought in to acclimate him to humanity again but at what price after growing up in darkness and abuse. Dark, twisted suspense; dual POV; this is however a cliffhanger not a standalone and what a cliffhanger it is!! Book two out July 15, 2016
Chained : OMG! This was An Amazing finish to Caged. Kloe and Anderson have so many secrets revealed This is book two of this series and starts right where Caged left off with Kloe ready to get to the truth one way or another. I don't want to say to much but do have your tissues ready for a rollercoaster of emotions in the ending to a great two-book series. This is a dark/suspense/romance; MFM
Bound : This novella begins 2 years after the loss of Chloe. Anderson Cain tries to get through life caring for their son Sam and still fighting the dark within. When something awful causes Cain to bring his young child to the hospital he just might meet a young nurse that can pull him out of his grief for losing Chloe. Great continuation of the caged series! Oh and Robbie is also included HEA, Dual POV
I am in no way, shape, or form a sensitive reader. I want to be up front about that. Pretty much if you can think of something that could be a trigger for someone then this book has it. That is not the reason I only gave 2.5 stars though. In fact I think that how dark the story was is what kept me reading.
The characters were very interesting and a lot weird but I think that there was just too much going on. Too many twists and coincidences made me eventually frustrated. The ending of the third book pissed me off but I could have lived with that. The novella at the end though, that made me almost regret reading the series. I feel I would have been better off to skip that one all together. It was underdeveloped and unnecessary.
Anderson’s story is a tragic story. Kidnapped at age 4, they keep him locked in a basement for 21 more years subjecting him to all kinds of abuse before being released. They take him to the hospital where he connects especially with his rehab nurse Kloe, and, when she is forced to move, she leaves him with a broken heart. 4 years later their lives cross again. Kloe is being threatened by her stepfather and Anderson offers her protection at his home, what she does not know is that she is part of a revenge plan and she will not come alive. But the attraction and the old feelings come back and Anderson has doubts about whether he can carry out with his plan.
Very dark, very twisted, very hot, very surprising. I ❤️it.
This is the first I've read of this author. The story took you through so many highs and lows I can't explain all the different emotions I had throughout. This story isn't for everyone, it has a lot of very dark and disturbing content, with some love in the mix as well. Great story!
I enjoyed these books.I really loved kloe and I couldn't help but shed a year or two when she passed.Lots of twists and turns in The first two books. The ending was a little rushed but overall a good read.
Holy hell Dawn has done it again!!! Her writing goes from strength to strength with each book and again she doesn't disappoint. From the very beginning I was drawn into both Anderson and Kloe's dark troubled worlds and felt like I was living there torment with them. Dawn has this ability to draw you in so deep that you feel everything the characters feel. I loved going through their experiences with them and the sexual chemistry between these two was sizzling hot.
