Oh yeah, I'm totally on the Dorothy Shaw fan train thanks to this story and the sexy Ryan Donnelly. They say you don't really know what you need until you've had it, tasted it, and felt it. For Ryan and Maiya this is most certainly so. They are quite different on the outside, Maiya being more of a rocker chick while Ryan's a bit of classic corporate, but it's the chemistry between the two that makes them work. They can match wits, be comfortable teasing one another, and seamlessly fall into one ...more

I signed up to review Unworthy Heart a while back, but when the opportunity to review its sequel came up I moved the book forward on my reading schedule so I could get a feel for the author’s writing style to see if I wanted to continue the series. It wasn’t until I was well past half-way through the book before I decided that I did want to review the next installment. This is not because I didn’t enjoy the author’s writing style because I did. Rather I wasn’t sure where exactly the story was go ...more

Amazing! I don't even know where to begin with this book. So I'll start with what I enjoyed the most - the banter. No one writes banter like Dorothy Shaw. It's at times laugh out loud funny, other times sexy, it can even be sarcastic, but it's never dull. The banter between Ryan and Maiya is definitely entertaining and is a huge part of what mak

If Unworthy Heart is any indication to what we can expect in The Donnellys Series, then we should be in for a lot of enjoyment. Ryan and Maiya would never be two people anyone would expect to hook up because of the major differences. With her red hair, tattoos and hang ups from her childhood, there would be no way she would be a good fit for the sexy, clean cut, professional business man Ryan who is a single parent. But Maiya is a pure example of a phoenix rising from the ashes and making somethi ...more

Hello, workplace romance! There's rarely a romance with work ties that I don't enjoy. That particular setting presents a complication that's provocative yet off-limits. In other words, it's a no-no that tempts even the most innocent of characters. Needless to say it's clear from the very beginning this story's going to be hot; Dorothy F. Shaw sets the expectation through her language, delivery and focus. Nothing left to do but hold on and enjoy the ride.

I'll admit it took a bit for me

3.5 stars! So, unfortunately, I let myself get way behind on reviewing. It is going to be hard to remember a ton of details now, but I did enjoy this book. This is Ryan and Maiya's story. They both work for the same company, but Maiya works in Vegas and Ryan in CA. They are both working on the same project so they begin talking on the phone and email a lot, which leads to some innocent flirting and curiosity between them. When Maiya goes on a business trip to Ryan's office and finally meets him, ...more

Sweet Chick-Lit Story. I kept waiting for the angst, but there really wasn't any. Just real life issues.

Maiya convinced herself with self-sabotaging reasoning that she didn't deserve happiness. That's a real life issue coming from a dysfunctional childhood.

Ryan was a sweet loving man that came from a wonderful loving family.

Two opposites attract and there's fire works with lots of complications. So true to real life.

The story had a touching moment between Maiya and her mother that made the who

Well this was a surprise. A wonderful, amazing surprise.

When Dorothy asks you to read a book, one thing you need to remember, is her warning labels in her books, are meant to be heeded.

No, I'm serious.

I remember reading her first book. And then I read this one, I will tell you all this, and this is hard for me to admit. Allow me to lower my head, and whisper this, because it is hard for me to admit this. Seriously. It is. And I swear, if anyone holds this against me, I will scream! goes....

Are you ready?!

My life has been uncertainty and drama recently and I haven’t made time to read many books…. but when I saw that Dorothy F. Shaw had a new release with Unworthy Heart I wanted to try it. I’m so thankful I did. For a few days I was able to curl up and focus on a Maiya and Ryan’s troubles and put mine on the back burner.

The writing in Unworthy Heart reminded me of what I love about the romance genre. Romance tells stories of people finding love, learning, trusting and hoping for a happy ending. S

Office romance - oh la la....such a no-no but when it happens unexpectedly and with such characters as Maiya and Ryan ... look out folks ... hot, hot, hot.

It took me a while to get into the book and I was a little bit frustrated with the back and forth of is there a relationship, is there not a relationship or whatever it is that is between these two characters to start off. But sexual tension - yes it is there. As the author moved along in the novel so did the in-depth look at just exactly what
Unworthy Heart by Dorothy F. Shaw is the first book in her series about the Donnelly family. This story involves Ryan Donnelly, a single father who works full time at a Los Angeles marketing firm & also raises his 5 year old son Jacob. He works on a project with Maiya Rissolli, who is senior to him & also works from home, out-of-state. They are inexorably drawn to each other from the start though they both acknowledge that the other is at the other end of the spectrum insofar as being th ...more

HOT! Very well developed characters, and I like the "twist" of their workplace relationship. SPOILERS

I read the second book (Sonja & Jimmy) in the series, and absolutely loved it. This book has a similar plot line (opposites attract), but each character and their story-line is fully developed. "Bad girl" with "conservative guy", not unusual but the guy has hidden Alpha depths. They are coworkers, and it's very interesting that Maiya is higher in the corporate world than Ryan. I absolutely l
3.5 "opposites attract" stars

A decent CR, as the heroine, Maiya, is a success story, and her Donnelly, Ryan Donnelly, is a responsible golden boy or preppy who has unexpectedly taken to single fatherhood, very seriously, but he know what he wants.

Donnelly had to chase Maiya because Maiya had some hangups, a chip on her shoulder, and one dysfunctional/painful and unique relationship with her mother that made her almost miss her blessing so to speak; however, Maiya's story, and this is her story,

Things that I love about Dorothy Shaw.....
1-based on her writing style, I think shes probably one fun ass lady to hang out with

I mean it guys. First, this is book one in a series. I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely James aka Jimmy Donnelly in book 2 first and I will admit, I fell in love hard. That still my beating heart.....but I digress...

This book is Ryan and Maiya's story. And while I still Flove me some Jimmy, Ryan is pretty damn hot in his ow

Plenty of other reviews offer general synopsis of this book so I'm not going to rehash what's in the book. The story starts out strong and flips back and forth between Ryan and Maiya's viewpoints. Lots of sex, lots of back and forth fighting and bickering and denial that admittedly, began to wear me thin, until the last part pays it all out when another major event happens for Maiya to break the constant wangst of hearts telling themselves lies and not seeing the truth. (I wanted to knock their ...more
⭐⭐⭐ 3 star book

This was a fun, hot read. Maiya and Ryan work together and have an already flirtatious relationship before they meet face to face. Once they do, the sparks really fly. Maiya has issues from her upbringing and family life, and Ryan has issues from his relationship with his son's daughter. It had little angst, some really sexy times, and some heartwarming ones too. After both of them work through their issues, they find their HEA.

It ended too abruptly for my taste, and it didn't hav

Oh yeah, I remember reading this. Well, kind of. Mostly I remember it being kind of lame with the heroine being promised to be this sassy girl, but she just seemed to be obsessed with... something. Like her looks or something. I forget what. Witch should tell how much this book held my attention. Just heck no.

Unworthy Heart was so Worthy

I can't say enough about this book . Ryan and Maiya story really touches the heart they both come from different backgrounds and family life but very surprised end up in the same place and fall in love but of course not as easy as it should be. I really enjoyed their story.
3.5 I'm gonna try a review later. In short, heroine was a little annoying-great writing-super steamy :)

Die Inhaltsangabe hat mir wirklich gefallen, aber Maiyas Charakter war nervig und Ryans/Maiyas Dirty Talk peinlich.

Dorothy F. Shaw stumbled into a career in Corporate America and has spent the last 20 years climbing the corporate ladder. A fan of journaling about her troubles, she started an online blog in 2009, and poured her emotions out for all to see.

As luck would have it, the first post came out in the form of a poem. A few authors she'd met online encouraged her to write more, and in the span of 2 years
