Though Amy Carmichael got into quite a few well-intentioned mishaps as a child, her passion and zeal and her love for the Lord took her to the land of India, where she preached the gospel and rescued children from temple prostitution. This is the first biography of the esteemed missionary to be written for children.

I love this book! I find it especially wonderful that anyone can read it. Rebecca Davis did an awesome job of telling Amy's story without giving details that would frighten children. It's simple and easy to understand, yet very moving and inspirational.

I have encountered Amy Carmichael 3 times in the last 3 days in 3 different sermons. I know a little about her, but I assume that it is time for me to read more about her life. :)
I like books like this; ones that are historical, and yet interesting.

Great story about Amy Carmichael's life. Well written for children as well as adults. I read every year with my 5th graders and they are always captivated by the events and are encouraged to think beyond their "world."

I first read this book when I was in fourth grade, and I was captivated. I still remember vivid details, like Amy as a child praying for blue eyes instead of brown. As a missionary, she darkened her skin and went into the temples to rescue Indian girls before they were sold into slavery. One of the Indian women who worked with her commented on the good fortune that, unlike many white people's, Amy Carmichael's eyes were not blue.

Little details like that are what brought this biography to life an
I remember reading this years ago, and liking it. It's a fictionalized account of Amy Carmichael's life, especially appealing to children.
