As somebody who had never read about Amy Carmichael’s life, I enjoyed this book! I’m thankful to have read about the details about where she was and when, and what the Lord did with her life- especially with the children in India. That being said, I’m looking forward to reading books that she has written herself! I think I’ll enjoy those more than this one- though I’m glad to now know her story as a lens through which to read her books!
Some quotes I enjoyed are:
“Oh, self, die, she quickly corrected herself. It was the ‘me, me, me’ in Amy that was stung by Thomas Walker. Nothing of any importance.”
“‘The children will tie you down,’ some protested. Well, why not? Why could she not be tied down for the sake of her Lord whose feet were once nailed?”
(After hearing she probably only had five years left to live on the earth) “…Last night I lay awake too happy to sleep. …Only pray that He will ‘take from me all slothfulness that I may fill up the crevices of my time,’ and truly finish all He wants me to do…”
