Next stop: Pain and heartache, coming right up…
Ivy McLain’s grand scheme of making it big? Yeah, it’s going nowhere fast. Every day, her dreams of a fabulous art career are fading a little more. And just when she didn’t believe things could get any worse, her parents plan their huge 40th anniversary party.
In December.
In cold, snowy Podunk, Idaho.

This is well one of the worst books I’ve ever read and I need to say there should be a huge TW for suicide, the main character basically brings up a suicide attempt out of nowhere and never mentions it again, like being depressed, suicidal, etc. is a quirk.

Sweet, sexy, thrilling and redeeming romantic journey that will warm your heart and leave you with all the best kind of warm fuzzes. Perfect love story to get you in the holiday mood.

Ivy McLain is sweet, sassy and looking to make her dreams as an artiest come true, not looking for true love specifically in the home town she ran from for very good reasons. Austin Bishop is rugged, handsome, sweet, charming and in no way looking for the love of his life, not after the last time his heart was stom

On the surface of things, Ivy McLain appears to be a bright, happy, and smiling artist, but beneath the mask, she is suffering from the same insecurities she experienced growing up in the small Idaho town. She has hardly been back in town a few hours before running into her nemeses and rubber-banded back into her high school years. The problem with wearing a mask and telling everyone how successful she is, only creates complications, especially when her well-laid plans fall apart. Austin Bishop, ...more

A Love Worth Waiting For

I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book, Christmas Of Love by Erin Wright.

What a marvelous early Christmas present, an Erin Wright ARC to read and a Christmas one too!!
Every book of Erin’s that I’ve read has been a treat to treasure but this one the best by far! I’ve come to love the Long Valley “family” and can’t wait for each new one to come out.

Can 2 troubled souls find a way through their pain to healing and love together?

It will be easy for some people to relate to Ivy because of mean girls making her teenage years unbearable. While others will not really understand. But it had to be so hard on Ivy for a couple of reasons. Her sister was loved and popular which I am sure made Ivy feel inferior plus the hormones going through out her body. Unfortunately these feeling can go on to adulthood which happened to Ivy. It broke my heart that she lived the way she did and felt she had to tell the lies she did. I was so h ...more

Ivy McLain looked around at her parents’ boring 40th anniversary party, hearing groups of farmers talking about crops, broken equipment, and water (too much or too little) – mundane, boring things -- and she was VERY cold. She did not understand why anyone would voluntarily live in Sawyer, Idaho! She wanted to return to California and get away from this place! She needed some hot cocoa before she froze to death on the spot! She rapidly turned toward the refreshments and ran right into what felt ...more

Wonderful, sweet, suspenseful story with well-developed characters and plot that will take you away and make you believe in love and in spite of our flaws and imperfections, we all are worthy of love!

Ivy (we met her sister, Iris in a previous book) and Austin meet each other at an anniversary party, talk to each other for 5 minutes and they go their separate ways thinking that they will never see each other again. Ivy is from California and is headed back the next day but before that can happen

In Christmas of Love you get to know Ivy who is Iris's sister from the concurrent story Returning to Love. Both books are stand-alone but it is so much fun to read them both and get the story from different perspectives. Christmas of Love is all about Christmas is a small Idaho town with all the small town charms and activities that really bring out the Christmas Spirit. It is fun and lively, with loveable characters all around. But it also has small town issues like gossip and bullying in schoo ...more

A great sweet romance between Austin and Ivy. Ivy comes home for her parent’s party and there she meets Austin who she mistakenly thinks is seeing one her bullies from H.S. When that is all cleared up they spend time together even though she is due to return to her lie of a life in California. She left right after H.S. after facing growing up being bullied and tormented and now all grown up has spun a web of lies of the life she leads. How often do you read a story where one minute you're laughing and the next you're grabbing a tissue? This one is an emotional rollercoaster!

Upon returning home for her parents 40th wedding anniversary party, Ivy literally bumps into Austin Bishop, her sister's boyfriend's best friend. While they are getting to know one another, Ivy and Austin together have some very funny times and some very sad times. Both have struggled with issues dating back to their teenage or early college years - for Ivy

During the holiday season I love reading romantic stories with a holiday theme. “Christmas of Love” is a heartwarming love story that just makes you feel good about life and love. Ivy and Austin both had personal issues to deal with and neither was looking for love. Austin had trust issues and had been let down by his parents and fiancé. Ivy had been bullied in High School and had career aspirations she was lying about to her family and friends. Through Erin’s beautifully written storyline, a co ...more

Ivy has always felt that she loved in her sister's shadow. Iris was wonderful at everything and she could do nothing. Add to that two nemesis, who made her life hell by tormenting her, all through school, and Ivy feels she has plenty of reasons to me miserable. The only thing that keeps her young is her art. She grows to hate the small town she grew up in. She left right after graduation.

There were several time I cried while reading this book.
Ivy has been lying to her family and everyone for many years that she is a successful artist in California. Now she has come home for her parents anniversary and is only home for a few days when she meets Austin but then one of the girls that bullied her in high school comes up while they are talking and makes it look like they are dating. Christmas Of Love is a sweet holiday novel with a simple and somewhat over done theme.

After years away due to the ridicule and bullying she received in high school and feeling like she never measured up to her 'perfect' sister, Ivy McClain has returned home to Sawyer, Idaho for her parents anniversary party. Living the life of a starving artist in San Francisco hasn't turned out so great. When she meets Austin Bishop and things begin to click for them Ivy begins to see the person she truly is

I loved this book in the Long Valley Series. Ivy McLain left town as soon as she could, hoping to never return. She was bullied at school but she just wanted to be accepted. Ivy McLain comes home to Idaho for her parents anniversary party. She's cold and miserable until she bumps into Austin Bishop, literally. She was intrigued until her high school nemesis starts hanging all over him. The day after the party her sister Iris is found laying in the cold snow, and is rushed to the hospital. Ivy forgets her flight and stay to help out.

Austin Bishop is a newbie to the area, and he is intrigued by Ivy. He's not interested in a relationship so hooking up with Ivy, who is

I read Christmas of Love before Erin rewrote the book and now it is better than ever. I have actually read all of Erin's books and I especially love Long Valley Idaho where she sets her romances, full of cowboys and heroes, romance and real world problems. But the books are also full of happy endings. Ivy grew up in the shadow of her "perfect" sister Iris and was bullied in school by two mean girls. When she studied art in college, she could not wait to see Idaho in the rear-view mirror and star ...more

Another great book by Erin Wright. Make sure you have tissue handy because you will need to wipe your eyes at time but you will also laugh. Austin and Ivy are perfect for each other. They only thing is that Ivy has been lying to her family for many years about her success in California and then she lies to Austin about it too. When she finally comes clean and tells the truth to Austin he is so hurt that he tells her to just leave. He thinks s

Another Long valley Story, this time it is the story of Ivy McLain, sister to Iris McLain, who was already featured in an earlier book. So this story is partly already familiar, we know some of the events happening, but now get the details of a story that was just hinted at in Iris' story.
Being in the know is not really a bad thing, it does not make the book boring, but one is curious to find out the details, the reasons why some of the thing happened the way they did, and Ms. Wright answers man

Ivy McLain has always felt as though she has been overshadowed by her older sister, Iris (being right behind the oldest girl in my family, I can totally relate with Ivy). But thankfully she literally ran into Austin. Austin isn't interested in getting to know someone one superficially, even though Ivy is getting ready to head back to California. They decided to date each other to get back at one of Ivy's bullies from high school and the woman who won't stop clinging to Austin. From that blossoms ...more

Excellent contemporary western romance. The author did a wonderful job of giving readers information about the characters premiums lives so we understood why they act the way the do. Ivy lives in California but came home for her parents anniversary. Austin is the land agent that works with farmers so they have more productive crops. Neither is looking for romance but instantly respond to one another. Unfortunately, Ivy is hiding a lot of her present life from everyone. Austin keeps to himself as ...more

This story touched me, as I was bullied in school. Like Ivy, I left for the military as soon as I graduated. I understand why Ivy hid who she was, but to hide herself from her family was completely wrong. I loved Austin and understand his hurt when all is revealed. Fortunately for me, my husband was my best friend first before we fell in love. Those of you who understand what someone goes through that is bullied knows the heartache and pain that is inflicted on one's self esteem and soul. Erin W ...more

This is the fifth novella in the Long Valley Series and is the story of Ivy and Austin. Ivy was forced to return to Idaho for hr parents 40th anniversary party. She had put off returning for five years because of bad memories there. Things change when she runs into a gorgeous cowboy. Their attraction is strong but they both have scars and secrets from their past. Lots of drama and suspense intermingled with a range of emotions. You'll be laughing and you'll be in tears. This is a very sweet love story. A story where the main female character learns to love...herself and along the way finds that special someone who sees what she discovers. I have loved every book in this series and this one is no exception. You can read each book individually as a stand-alone but it does add to the pleasure if you read about all of the characters of Long Valley. Erin Wright takes you on a incredible journey with all of her characters and her plots always have an unexpected twist ...more

Christmas Love...

This is a rewrite of what was already a wonderful story. While this edition gives us extra content and more character build-up, the overall story remains the same. Unlike Ivy, I love returning to Long Valley. When her parent's 40th wedding anniversary party forces her to return home, Ivy is counting down the hours until she can leave. Then she meets Austin. Maybe he can keep her distracted when Ivy gets stuck staying longer than she likes. Both Ivy and Austin have secrets. Will

I admit when I first started reading this I was out off by the immaturity of 32-year-old, Ivy. But when the story unfolded I realized how being bullied can stunt emotional growth in a person. The story itself has merit. Ivy has been lying about her life in California, giving the impression she was doing well and was a successful artist. Life becomes very complicated when she doesn't have the money to leave Idaho and return to San Francisco. And then there is Austin. Meeting him adds
