A little white lie. A little white wedding. A pair of roommates in over their heads.

Days before she's set to move across the country and start a prestigious graduate program, a con artist leaves Emmy with no where to live and less than zero dollars in her bank account. But her day doesn't seem quite so bad compared to Beckett's--his fiancée called off their wedding just

"I pulled him close, until his forehead rested against mine. "I want you to be happy."
He smiled. "Then shut up and kiss me."

Sometimes I just want to read an easy, stress-free romance. Sometimes I get bored with reading 150 pages before a douchenozzle Alpha dude decides being a douchenozzle might not be the best way to get through life. And sometimes I just wish that there was a book with characters that sound like actual people, not weird cardboard cutouts of people. If any of this sounds like

This was a fantastic modern marriage-of-convenience story starting with a very solid initial impetus for the convenience. It's also a credible friends-to-lovers story. Which is to say that it's a fantastic romance with all the right highlights and I loved every moment and I had hard a hard time putting it down.

A large part of this working is how engaging Emmy is from the start. We enter with her scrambling through a financial setback and that drew me right in. And I really liked how the author s

Ahhhhh! This book was so fucking cute! I was going to give it 4.5 stars but I don't even care. I would reread the hell out of this book and recommend it to anybody who loves romcoms. THIS is how you do fake married tropes. Emmy and Beckett were a great pair of characters. They had the background of being friends for a long time, were roommates, and had the same majors. The problem of Beckett's awful fiancee breaking up with him and Emmy's financial issues were laid out immediately. He would lose ...more

Square- Fake Dating and/or Marriage

This was generally the perfect book title to match this challenge square too. Emmy and Beckett are friends and college roommates, until the day Emmy is conned out of her savings and Beckett loses his fiance after she bails on him. Both Emmy and Beckett want to study at the same grad school but to do this and get a roof over their heads, they need to be a couple together to get campus accommodation. Soon, they marry qui

A cute, fun and quick romance story. First time I read the blurb I felt as if the premise was quite childish. We all knew how this would end so there weren’t exactly a lot of surprising moments. Still the author manages to give a sweet romance. Not exactly what you call a memorable love story but a sweet and quick one to read. I’ve got to admit though. It was the cover that got me interested in it and I don’t exactly regret the decision.

***4.5 Stars***

I loved this book. It was such a sweet love story that built over time. One big plus was the hero had only been with one woman, so no man-whore here. Gosh I loved that!!

Beckett Anderson (Love the name Beckett) is a 22-year-old college graduate who is moving on to grad school in a few days. He has been dating a young woman, Emily since he was sixteen years old, so that is approx. six years. They were getting married so they could share the married couples quarters on the campus of

I love Ellie Cahill and the fake boyfriend/husband trope, so I was all over this book when I saw it.

I liked Emmy and Beckett. They’re both really sweet, good people and I did enjoy seeing their relationship evolve.

Plot wise, I would have liked to see just a bit more chemistry from the two of them. Everything moved pretty quickly and I was left wanting in that department. I guess I just wanted more UST.

Overall, it was a quick and cute read with a fantastic ending.

Loved this❤

Wow this book was amazing! Holy crap the emotions I went through were crazy and over the top but I loved every minute of it! These two had some of the worst luck ever but still came out on top! I love that their relationship wasnt filled with a whole lot of back and forth drama just between Beck and Em. Such a good book. I do wish Emily would have gotten a bit more karma to bite her in the @ss but all in all this was oh so good!

No chemistry between the characters.

That's the biggest flaw of this book. The fact that they stayed friends for 4 years while he was with someone else should have made me feel alarmed. He was engaged to his first love. He became single only when she left him. Even in their fake marriage, for a long while, they still remained as friends - no sexual tension, no chemistry, no moves...

Only after the 75 % of the book, they become lovers but still there is no chemistry at all. Everything feels taste

As a general comment, here is a link to a more general complaint of mine regarding romance novels (this novel was cited as an example of the problems I discuss in my complaint).
Yes, I read this. I started out liking this (albeit as a very fluffy read) at first, then... this happened.

I also don't know why I seem to be the only one remarking on this - did I read a different book from everyone else???

Honestly, just cute and wholesome fun. Is it a tad clique? Sure, but most fake to real marriages. Still, I enjoyed this story simple, pleasant read.

So, Katy reviewed this book and said it was adorable, and she was right. It was adorable.

Her review is complete with gifs and I'd be silly to replicate so I suggest you read the real deal:;

This one hit the spot, and was oddly believable and delightful.
Sweet, fun and cute. A true friends to lovers romance with a MOC in between that worked in spite of my prejudice. And I had a lot (of prejudice)😉

It could have been a melodrama or a soap opera or a bit OTT. But it wasn´t.

I liked better The Designated +1 but this one was enjoyable too.
It had (again) a bunch of really nice people, young but mature MC´s and a bit of light melodrama near the end.

3.5 stars.

A warm, fluffy friends-to-lovers story that was somehow believable despite it having a marriage of convenience.
I enjoyed both characters very much and loved the lack of manufactured drama.
Fast paced and good fun. With extra brownie points for Beckett not being an alpha asshole.

College roommates Emmy and Beckett are both heading to grad school; Emmy has been scammed by a potential roommate out of all her money, and Beckett's married student housing is at risk when his fiancee leaves him. They decide to get married as a fix to both their problems.

If you enjoy fake relationships and friends-to-lovers romances, you might like this book. It was a quick, fluffy read, but unfortunately it's already fading from my mind. The story was entirely too short; it spent too much time

There are several lines that I liked but couldn't copy and right now, I am feeling too lazy to find 'em again. Rest assured, there were be plenty of witty lines in this story.

I felt that the story was inititally a bit too detailed, especially the roommates bit and their drinking and hangover etc was unnecessarily long. After that, the narration flows very smoothly as the duo gets in and out of trouble and enjoy being fake-married.

It is reasonably clean, very clean, in

Two friends. Both looking for a place to live while they complete grad school. They only housing available is the married/family apartments. So what do they do? They marry each other to make sure they do not become homeless. While the deal was to view this arrangement as a business deal, they end up falling for each other with a couple of bumps and scraps along the way.

One day on Amazon this book was free and it sounded like a cute romcom, so why the heck would I pass up on this book. I am glad

1.5 Stars (come on GR, you gave us the auto-saving already, half stars need to be the next improvement!!)

Pretty much an ok book, the characters are likeable and the story is cute in that rolling-my-eyes, this-is-impossible sort of way most NA stories are, and for a while I was going to rate it a very solid 3 stars, but the evil ex turned out to be a complete joke and the way the author treated the religious beliefs of the girl and her family made me feel uncomfortable at the very least, and I am

A short and fluffy read. Friends to lovers romance with a touch of marriage of convenience honestly never gets old.

And the characters were so adorable and surprisingly mature, especially the heroine. If only real life was like this.

I'd love see more of Beckett in all his foul-mouthed glory in the next book.

A fun and light and read has been my addiction lately, and this book just satisfied my cravings. I wish I know or fall in love with someone who's like Beckett. Emmy is one hell of a lucky girl for having someone who's sweet and kind like him. Love love their story together! No bullshit, not much of a drama and all in all a good time.

Can't wait to read more from Ellie :)

After reading and loving Ellie Cahill's previous work, I couldn't wait to get stuck into this book and I was not disappointed. The synopsis sounded like a fun and romantic tale and that is exactly what I got. This friends to lovers story was the perfect combination of sweet and sexy. I loved "I Temporarily Do."

This was exactly the lighthearted, easy romance read I was hoping for and I enjoyed every moment of it. This book really just checked off a ton of my favorite romance tropes- fake relationship, friends to lovers, even an only-one-bed situation that absolutely tickled me. I loved that Emmy and Beckett had a pre-existing relationship since I often struggle with romance novels where the protagonists fall for each other too quickly. It made perfect sense to me that two long-time friends and roommate ...more

I love the fake couple trope
The writing is good and the character are likeable
And the plot is believeable and realistic enough

The second time:
I read it the second time and it still great, page turner read!
The story is really character driven, so despite being the book is slow paced, you can't help fall in love with Emily and Beckett.
I love how Emily and Beckett relationship grow and the plot is so realistic.
The story is heart warming and really page turner!

I definitely saw potential in this plotline as I bought this immediately after reading the blurb, but uh, the book itself was boring. There was no chemistry between Beckett and Emmy. It was like a friends-to-friends story. And even if there had been chemistry, there was very little tension or anything keeping these two from getting together except for some manufactured drama and miscommunication at the very end.
