I swear, people can’t wrap their minds around the concept of a fat girl who doesn’t diet. Is it that hard to believe I might actually like my body?
“I can't help it. I'm a Slytherin."
And I'm the worst kind of Slytherin. I'm the kind who's so stupidly in love with a Gryffindor, she can't even function. I'm the Draco from some shitty Drarry fic that the author abandoned after four chapters.”
🚫 Her attitude towards Garret? Rude. He has a huge crush on her but she never once thought of telling him she wasn’t interested.
🚫 Like, she was literally bouncing him on her knees, teasing him high.
🚫 She was furious at Abby for teasing her, when Abby didn’t even know she was bi? Hypocritic binch.
🚫 The way she lied to Garrett about attending his game, and not even clarifying with him later when Simon advised her to.
🚫 I can tolerate everything, but lying that bad, and not even feeling guilty. NOT ACCEPTABLE.
🚫 You know what her reason was for engaging Garret? She never before felt needed or liked. I. CANT. EVEN.
🚫 She treated her Mom like TRASH. She never allowed her to speak for herself; she never ever gave her a chance to have a life. And her Mom is actually the sweetest person on the planet.
🚫 The way she treated her friends Anna and Morgan. Yeah it was sweet and all at first, but then she drops them off like tissues and isn’t willing to forgive Morgan even when she apologized.
🚫 And she actually compared Morgan to Martin?? Wtf? As if she and Martin were the bestest buddies before Simon happened!
🚫 Also in between all the Morgan drama, SHE TOTALLY FORGETS ABOUT HER OTHER FRIEND ANNA. She doesn’t miss her, alright? But never gave her a chance to explain, never even wanted to acknowledge their friendship.
🚫 Nick. Her conduct towards him and his heartbreak was IMPOSSIBLE.
🚫 I mean, her best friend is having an epic meltdown right in front of her because he was dumped, and all she can think about is how soon she can kiss his ex-girlfriend????
🚫 GOODNESS GRACIOUS. SAVE ME FROM THE POISON OF SUCH FAKE FRIENDS.
🚫 Besides, the number of times she ‘swore to God’ made my head ache.
🚫 I used to think Abby was a decent character, and I didn’t exactly hate her as much as I hated Leah, but she came off as a flat character tbh.
🚫 All the time we’re being told, Abby is the perfect girl on earth.
🚫 TOLD, NOT SHOWN
🚫 The way she dumped Nick was bad, but I could understand her reasoning.
🚫 What I couldn’t understand though, was her way of questioning her sexuality.
🚫 This whole thing that goes like, I-am-not-bisexual-but-i-want-to-kiss-Leah-so-I-might-be was really confusing.
🚫 And I wasn’t impressed by the way she avoided Nick and just left him hanging after her and not even caring, even if she said she did.
🚫 I couldn’t care less though, because seriously, Abby’s character was underdeveloped and off-putting.
🚫 In Simon Vs., we are introduced to Leah and Abby and they are the straightest people on Earth. But all of a sudden, Leah is bisexual and she has a HUGE crush on Abby and apparently she’s had a crush on her since forever.
🚫 I mean, for someone whose face is so transparent, I can’t believe no one ever noticed it before? At least Simon must have said something, pried at her?
🚫 It’s not like I didn’t know Leah was bisexual before reading this book. But I definitely didn’t doubt her heterosexuality in the previous book.
🚫 After that, we’re again told Abby is bisexual and all of a sudden both of them are so in love with each other for no apparent reason.
🚫 It felt to me as if Albertalli thought ‘Simon’s gay and everybody loves him, so why not make Leah gay too? Oh, she would need a love interest then. I could use Abby.’
🚫 Like I said, too unbelievable and forced romance, it felt disgusting.
I swear, people can’t wrap their minds around the concept of a fat girl who doesn’t diet. Is it that hard to believe I might actually like my body?I loved the friendships in this story, and of course the romance. Honestly, I had no idea who Leah’s love interest would be. I’m so happy that wasn’t spoiled for me, so I’m not going to spoil it for anyone else! I was surprised, but it was perfect. I loved how different the two girls were, but how they just worked. College roadtrip, sketches, Harry Potter, and PROM. Need I say more?
“Of all the fuckin’ days…”
“Okay, please don’t say fuckin’.”
She shoots me a self-conscious glance. “I thought we liked cussing.”
“We love cussing. But we say the fucking g. I don’t want to hear that apostrophe, mom.”
“You keep running away.”
“You keep finding me.”

“I hate when assholes have talent. I want to live in a world where good people rule at everything and shitty people suck at everything.”
“Imagine going about your day knowing someone’s carrying you in their mind. That has to be the best part of being in love- the feeling of having a home in some else’s brain.”
“I'm basically your resident fat Slytherin Rory Gilmore.”
