Mazākam bērnam šī grāmata būs skaists attēlu krājums, taču pieaugušajiem jābūt gataviem skaidrot redzamo, atbildēt uz jautājumiem un apdomāt, kā skaidrojumu padarīt mazam bērnam saprotamu. Patiesībā arī lielākam bērnam gan jau būs daudz jautājumu. Visticamāk, bērni pirms šīs būs redzējuši jau kādu bērnišķīgāka stila grāmatu par dinozauriem un tad šī būs "dziļās" intereses grāmata.

Beautiful, interesting book! However I knew nothing about dinosaurs before and sometimes I found it hard to follow (because lack of my knowledge and inability to remember dinosaur names), it is not the easiest read!

Having previously reviewed "Welcome to the Museum" books, I was again simply fascinated and thoroughly impressed with the presentation, information, and art of the beautiful oversized book. In Dinosaurium: Welcome to the Museum, we have a pretty clear presentation of evolutionary theory as being an accepted theory and there is a glorious depiction of the dinosaurs as theorized from research authorities and paleontologists in this area of study of fossilized bones. We all realize that the evidence supports the existence of dinosaurs and other creatures, but there is some disagreement as to the timeline. I disagree and hold to the Creation concept. I still think, however, that this is a fascinating book and those who hold to either origin of creatures will discover much to interest them.

If you've ever watched a young boy play with his dinosaurs, you know that they absolutely love the critters and really "get" the ferocious nature of the beasts. This book will fascinate the young child simply for the pictures alone. The older age 8 to 12 child - male or female - will find the information clearly worth delving into. As a reference tool, this book will provide material that will surely lend credence to the child's presentation. As a book to peruse and absorb, it will provide hours of enthrallment and obsession.

Exquisite, the book is printed in an oversized format on heavy ivory toned paper. There is an antique or museum quality look to the book and drawings as presented. The book has an appearance of denseness and is heavy with greens and browns. This speaks to the world as it existed during the age of the dinosaurs. This makes it even more special to me.
description
Without adhering to previous preconceptions about dinosaurs, recent study by paleontologists is discovering new information and making further conclusions into how these creatures lived and how they were connected.

I was amazed at the variety of dinosaurs and the versatility of the critters that has been documented by the fossil remains.

Dinosaurium: Welcome to the Museum, while designated for the age 8 to 12 child, utilizes information and vocabulary that might be beyond the realm of this age group making the books fitting upward to adults. Introduction of vocabulary and scientific information can begin at any age and more is often absorbed than imagined possible. However, the targeted age 8 to 12 students may find some of the text daunting but we should never underestimate the learning ability and the absorption value that a challenging book has for anyone. And no, this is not your toddlers lovely picture book. This is a book that provides insight into the species that roamed the Earth long ago.

I received a complimentary copy to facilitate this review. Opinions are my own and are freely given.

I’d take some of these pages as wallpaper in my house (foliage, not dinosaurs, but maybe also dinosaurs).

A superbly illustrated book with stellar written descriptions of individual dinosaurs, my grandson and I sat down with this right away, though he knows as much as one can imagine for a 41/2-year-old. I read aloud, he commented (and argued the point with the author), so I'm claiming it for a read.

I had read my first in the Museum series recently with Fungarium and think that the style of these books will be as iconic as the DK books and feel like an artistic big sister to the DK books that are chock full of browsable facts. In this case, dinosaurs never go out of style and this one breaks it down and includes some plant life, non-dinosaur animals that existed during these periods but my favorite was something I remember hearing about, the iconic fighting dinosaurs that were locked in battle fossilized. Super cool.

The size is certainly unique and I'm sure obnoxious on the shelves in libraries, but they're oh so cool. Up next is the animals one (then I've got botanicals on deck).

Visit with sauropods . . . therodpods . . . ornithopods. Meet Thyreophora and Marginocephalia. Learn about ancient creatures classified as non-dinosaurs.

Which is your favorite?

=========

Designed to replicate a museum display, each section of this coffee-table-sized book takes readers on a tour through a gallery devoted to a particular dinosaur. Young readers will learn about the variety of each species, see what they ate, how they moved, where they lived.

The full-color illustrations are a highlight of the book; there’s enough intriguing information here to please even the most fervent dinosaur aficionado.

Highly recommended.

A fantastic book, filled with beautifully detailed pictures. A very diverse range of dinosaurs with an abundance of information. This is a book to be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. The book is a large A3 size, with a sturdy cover, great size for young ones and great size for anyone who love a beautifully illustrated book. The size of the text is great and the information inside the book is very well structured and organized. A book I would recommend to any dinosaur lover or anyone interested in learning about dinosaurs.

Looks like I am the only one who did not love this book. There were several mistakes in it, the drawings were not to scale and on a lot of the diagrams, it was like playing Where's Waldo? to find the corresponding numbers.

My library listed this as a children's non fiction book. I'm not saying there aren't children who could read and understand this, but it certainly read like an adult book to me.

This was my favorite book of the series. The style of museum plates with a small sample of example species makes more sense to me in the context of dinosaurs. Since the information we are gathering about dinosaurs is from the fossil record, it makes more sense to pull out a few species at a time. I also particularly liked the plates of the Mesozoic era, showing the continent shifting at the time, as well as detailed plates for the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.

If you raised a boy, I bet pretty much anything he went through a dinosaur stage. What an asset this wonderful book would have been when I struggled to keep my ceratopsians and my ceratosaurians sorted! These Welcome To The Museum books are an asset in anyone’s library, even if you haven’t got a small Tyrannosaurus or two at home. They are gorgeous, informative and user friendly.

I enjoyed this. Beautiful illustrations, informative, simple but that's to be expected. I think this laid out the timeline of evolution very well and it solidified information that went straight over my head when I read about the topic in adult pop-science titles. Also "visit to the museum" is fun.

Of no consequence, but for a brief period of my life I wanted to write books like this.
