Yes, as the title suggests, a book on financial analysis. Hence no surprise if those that are not interested in the matter will find it boring.
However for those that like financial analysis, need to learn from scratch or want to refresh dusty knowledge this book is one of the best, most to the point and easiest to of its kind. Selection of topics is brilliant and highly relevant for practitioners and academics alike. Highly recommended.

Due to my background was from computer engineering, I had to take a training class on Accounting and Finance in 2000 to be able to analyze financial statements. This is the book that made me understand Financial Analysis.

This textbook encompasses a solid overview of Financial Management while using a relatively entertaining tone. The discussion of the costs of financing were particularly interesting.

I am a Wharton MBA (1990), now retired. Along the way I had to read a LOT of literature, most of which was an effective sleeping pill. This book stands head, shoulders, kneecaps, and toenails above the scores, maybe even hundreds, of things I had to read, not only in business school but in what was the grueling and often pointless three-year Chartered Financial Analyst cycle.

To answer the naysayers who gave it fewer stars: Yes, it is a textbook. What did you expect, a John Grisham novel? As textbooks go, it is as straightforward as straightforward ever gets. Simple? No. It's not supposed to be, for crying out loud. Understandable by the interested and diligent student? You bet. If I could have given Higgins's book six stars, I would have. This book makes financial accounting come alive like nothing else I have ever read, and by a factor.

If you are a prospective accounting and finance student, buy it. If you are the parent of a kid who is interested in going that route, buy it for your offspring. To use the finance lingo that was common during my career, I am pounding the table here. To put it mildly, "Analysis For Financial Management" is no page-turner. It shouldn't be. In its realm, this one is an absolute classic. Really: They just don't get any better.

I know, some who read this review will be skeptical of my passion. They'll wonder if the author is my relative. (Nope.) Fine, let 'em wonder. But buy the book and read it. Or give it to a finance student, or prospective one. You or they will never, ever be sorry. You or they will see.

Supposedly Higgins is the least dry of the financial texts, but I certainly can't see it. Perhaps finance is just not my cup of tea. He does attempt to bring in several real world situations, which is nice.

Unfortunately, a lot of the Excel spreadsheets that are available did not work for me. Many of them use a fair number of macros, which did not play well with my work laptop even when I had them enabled.

This is one of those typical analytical books. Not terribly interesting to read, but a must-read if you need to know anything about financial analysis, basic business accounting, cash-flow management etc. Otherwise, it's a real sleeper. I don't recommend picking this up anytime before bedtime as you are sure to fall straight to sleep!

Saying I didn't like it would be unfair...it was good, for a finance book! There were parts that I did enjoy...sort of.

This book is a perfectly acceptable textbook, but I found it easier to learn the material through lectures than by doing the readings.
