Updated and de-caveman. I read lots of Jeanne St. James' stories. I read this one years ago under its original name and then it was just a little something under-whelming about the two scarred people and the story they weaved together. I always felt like there were somethings missing from the story. I know. Its a short, what could be missing. Well, I feel with the new added pieces

Reviewed on,
This is a great story of Colby Parks and Mace Walker. While housesitting for a friend Colby is
woken up one night when a handsome hunk FBI Undercover agent lets himself in. Mace had been injured and had come home to recuperate.
This book has everything Suspense, plenty of Hot Sex, and Romance. A great story that has plenty to keep you entertained. We also have dual narration hearing from both Colby and Mace. The Damaged in the title refers to both Colby and Mace,

The writing was good. Mace & Colby started on a rough foot, but they were undeniably attracted to each other.

The thing is Mace came off as a bit incompetent for an FBI agent, and Colby didn't come across as smart as I thought she would be considering what she does for a living.

I also felt like Mace was let off the hook too easily for my liking. There definitely should have at least been an apology.

I read this book as Banged Up. This one was WAY MUCH BETTER.
Mace and Colby - both were hurt emotionally or physically. They need to heal each other. This was a fast read that I enjoyed reading it!

I love a strong FBI agent who is flawed, and Mace was just perfect in Damaged. He and Colby both have shadows from their pasts, but when they inadvertently find themselves having to live in the same home for awhile, it gives them an opportune time to explore the passion sizzling between them. This was an amazing, action-packed book, with suspense, steam, emotional angst, and more! Great story, with well written characters and hot scenes!

Rating. Writing 3.5 / Narration 4 / Overall 3.75

This story had all the makings to be a great story. I really liked the concept and plot and overall I enjoyed the audiobook. Initially there were aspects that I did not enjoy.

In the first chapter the male protagonist, Mace, lets Colby wrongly assume that he was about to sexually assault her. He is an undercover cop who has been injured and has come home to convalesce and finds a strange woman in his house, so I accept that he had to use everything

(audiobook) I don’t know what to think of this book. Narration was good. Characters were interesting. Their struggles too. But everything seemed to be just an excuse to write very hot sex scenes.

Don’t be mistaken, I enjoyed those scenes. They were hot as hell, with lots of experimentation from the characters. Never boring. But they kind of ruined the story. Like I was reading two very different books–one a thriller, the other one only smut–badly meshed together.

Why was Mace attracted that fast a

Mace, an FBI agent, has been deep undercover for the past two years. Now he has come home to recover from a nasty gun shot wound. He arrives at his home, late in the night, looking more than a little rough around the edges, looking forward to seeing his sister. He desperately needs somebody to talk to, to decompress, and she is the only one her can talk to. She is his only family, and the only person outside the Bureau that knows what he does.

However, instead of his sister, it's a gun-wielding h

I thoroughly enjoyed this captivating story. It is well written and well told with interesting storylines and characters that are complex and nicely developed. The book grabs you right from the start, Mace Walker returns to his home after two years to come face to face with a barrel of a gun. Colby Walker is house sitting when an intruder enters, block in hand she goes to face her intru

As the author states this is a previously released book just with another name. I have read other stories by this author and enjoyed them immensely this story however felt like this may have been closer to the beginning of their writing career.

The opening scene between Colby and Mace was so out there with his egging on someone with a loaded gun pointed at him, which seems really strange as he is home to recuperate after being shot and to top it off he’s having sexual fantasies was kind of a rea

This is my first Jeanne St. James book and it is definitely not my last. With just the right amount of suspense and steam, St. James has brought together two characters, each with their own damaged past. Mace comes home after being deep undercover with the FBI. He needs to ease back into his own reality and recover from a serious injury. When he walks into his house, he expects to see his sister, but instead meets Colby. Colby is house sitting for Mace's sister while renovating her own house. Sh ...more

I reviewed and advanced reader copy of this book. Another amazing book from Jeanne. She has fast become one of my favorites and this book did not disappoint. This book is very emotional, suspenseful, a little angsty (if that’s even a word), twisty, action filled and very steamy sex scenes and overall fantastic story. Colby running from her abusive past is house sitting for Mace’s sister Maxi and when Mace returns home after being undercover for years only to find someone in the house and thinkin ...more

Suspenseful book so good I couldn’t put it down. This is a reedited version of Banged Up. Jeanne’s power to grab your attention right off the bat is definitely shown in this book. From the first chapter till the last it keeps you on the edge of your seat!

Mace is an undercover FBI agent who was injured on his last assignment however the emotional damage runs much deeper so all he wants to do is see his sister and get some well deserved rest and relaxation.

Colby moved to town a year ago after escaping an abusive relationship. She has been staying at her friend’s house while she is away as renovations are being completed on her home. After her past, she is not about to trust any man who comes to her door so she greets him with a gun.

This book is so good that it is also part of an anthology so you better grab a seat and be prepared to stay for a while. The last thing that Mace Walker wants, after being undercover for the FBI for the past two years, is being held up at gunpoint by a woman he doesn't even know in his own home. Colby is the woman who is housesitting for Mace’s sister as her home is being renovated. She has been in the area for about a year after she left an abusive relationship. Although Colby has sworn off men ...more

I absolutely love Jeanne St James. I love her books. This one is on the top of my love her books. Not only was it full of suspense but it was also loving and sweet. I absolutely love the part when Mace comes home to find a woman holding a gun ready to shoot him if needed. I swear that set the tone for the whole rest of the book. Mace is someone that you can easily relate too. Someone with a past that he has to keep to himself but he finds himself falling for this girl who can make his terrible p ...more

I was gifted this audible book by the author, thank you Jeanne.
The narration is by a single narrator unknown till this book by me, she did a nice job.

Mace an uncover agent wants nothing more than to open the door to his home maybe say hi to his sister go to bed, recoup from his last op, have some down time, and get his head back on straight, but instead of all that he is confronted by a sassy little red headed stranger holding a glock. Colby and Mace are truly damaged from their lives. when they are forced to cohabitate, the sparks start to fly. When they get together, their chemistry is intense. But as with all great stories, there are forces trying to keep them apart. THese forces bring suspense and angst. I was sucked into the world of Colby and Mace and I could not let go until the end. I found myself hoping they would find their HEA. Jeanne St. James always delivers intense romances that bring all the feelings and keeps t ...more

Damaged was my first read by Jeanne St. James, but I’m sure it will not be the last.

With an enthralling storyline, engaging characters and off the charts attraction; it’s everything a romance reader could want. It’s deeply emotional, often suspenseful and there’s always just a touch of angst to keep you on the edge of your seat.

The passion between Colby and Mace is always hot and steamy, and their equally damaged souls lead to a mountain of intrigue and the reader’s hope that they’ll eventually

I really wanted to like this more than I did. It seems to be the beginning of a great story. So much could happen and go wrong. Sadly the majority of this book was sex. Some is good so we can get the feel for the emotions of the character but too much just ruins it and takes away from the main story. Which was great by the way. Colby has a great job with an abusive past. He is an undercover FBI agent coming home to rest up after getting shot. Funnily the two are at the same house..he owns it. Sh ...more

I read Damaged by Jeanne St. James and it was great. It has a good story line, super hot and steamy. I could not put it down. I loved the characters they are all well defined. Colby is very smart and brave. With the love and support of Mace she was finally able to overcome her fear. Mace is strong, tough and scary enough to send a person running from just a look. The passion between these two keeps you completely enthralled. The action and suspense also draws you into the story. It’s a great rea ...more

Mace needed to come home to recuperate from a gun shot wound, not knowing that his sister left for her honeymoon and left Colby as the house sitter. Being in such close quarters, the two have instant chemistry that explodes off the pages. But will that relationship put Colby in harms way with the men who are trying to kill Mace? Or will the issues from her past relationships keep Colby from falling in love? This was a great story with great characters and a fast moving plot that kept the pages t ...more

Coming home after two years deep undercover for the FBI - Mace is startled to find an intruder in his house aiming a gun at him.
Colby is housesitting for her friend Maxi whilst she is on her honeymoon, not knowing that the house actually belongs to Maxi's brother Mace.
I love reading anything by Jeanne St James, and this book had so much action, suspense and even more passion.
Brilliantly written yet again - no wonder Jeanne is one of my favourite authors.

Such a great book. From the beginning until the end I was captivated by the dynamics between Colby and Mace. The love affair that developed between them was absolutely delicious. The chemistry was intense; the sex scenes steamy, well-written and off the charts. Though the end of the story was happy, I would have liked if the author included an epilogue. This was a really good read! Two damaged people find the healing and love they desperately need and deserve. Although a little intense I enjoyed there first meeting. Imagine coming into your house only to have a beauty pointing a gun at you. WOW! I love the character development in this suspenseful read. Colby and Mace are perfect together. This was not only suspenseful but full of twists, action, emotion and steamy romance. Definitely a good book.

This was an amazing read, so emotional and raw. It follows two incredibly strong but flawed people who end up finding way more then they bargained for in each other. This is both a romance and an emotional journey. When I was finished reading, I felt like I was some how part of Mace & Colby's lives. I have never read a story quite like this and was very pleasantly surprised. I would recommend this story to any reader that loves connecting with the characters and becoming one with a story. 💋

I really enjoyed this book. Mace is an alpha through and through but damaged after two years as an undercover agent deep in his job. He comes home to find a feisty housesitter. Colby is also damaged by an abused past but when they come together is full on chemistry. As they help each other they find chemistry is not all they have in common.
