We stocked up on books at the Fairfield Camp Floyd museum on our Pioneer Day visit. Reading about the Mormon Pioneer National Heritage Area makes me want to "road trip" through these fascinating regions of Utah. Frontier justice, miracles, lost treasure--it has it all.
We are watching "The History of the Saints" and this little read played perfectly into our weekly viewing.
There simply must be a couple road trips to explore some of these stories further.

I sought this out for the chapter on Clarion, the Jewish farming community, by Eileen Hallet Stone. As a bonus, I also read the chapter on Wasatch Academy in Mt. Pleasant by Jason Friedman. I was not interested in the legends or lore.

This began as seeming but another pop history book, but I found myself rather absorbed in the writing which becomes surprisingly personable, giving this collection of tales some real flavor. It's a fairly random collection of history, but all good stories just the same.

Mormon country is down around the Sanpete area of Utah. Lost treasure, criminals, and grit.
