I Love King Dad! is a first readers book about Princess Nella and her family. The book shows all the adventures that Nella and her sister have with their dad- the king. I think that kids will love this book because they will likely know the characters from the Nickelodeon show. From my personal experience kids love books even more when they know the characters from a show already.

I think that the app Story Patch for Apple devices would help primary students with literacy. The app teaches kids how stories are organized and how to create their own stories. I think kids would be more excited for reading if they were reading a story that they wrote themselves.
I think for this age group PBS Kids would be an awesome resourse. So I would recomend parents subscribe to the PBS Kids newsletter. Not only does PBS Kids help with literacy but it also helps with other subjects, like math, science, and social studies. Sigmund Freud is not going to read this book, which is just as well. Since he lived and theorized and died long before the advent of "I Love King Dad." Really, just as well.

This Level 1 Book is another product, via Nickelodeon, so that children can read the equivalent of a TV cartoon. Even if a mere book isn't considered anywhere near as good, at least this book does come with plenty of stickers and press-out cards.

IN ALL FAIRNESS

Love between this princess and king may be a very appealing topic for the intended readers, ages 4-6. Hey, I loved my Dad for as long as he lived, and then some. Still do. And I did go on to become a reader!

In honor of that hope, that readers of books like this one will become actual readers... Sure, this sweet little book has earned FIVE STARS.

Cute beginning reader about spending the day with dad.

I have not seen Nella the Princess Knight, but based on the few book adaptations I have read, I am actually very interested in watching it.

This one is a Step 1 book, recommended for preschool to kindergarten readers. It uses easy words and picture clues to aid in reading.

While this book is more description than plot, it was still fun and interesting. Storywise it just describes Nella and Norma doing things with their father, but it is a nice beginning reader that I am sure fans of the show would enjoy.

12/27/2018 ~ Even though this is a TV/toy tie-in, I think it would stand up to reading even if kids don't recognize the TV show. Stong female lead (who happens to have brown skin) looking out for her friends. My little girls (in my elementary library) will eat this up & ask for more! This story about a "classic" day with King Dad isn't quite as strong as others in the series.

It's cute, but very light on substance. (Granted, it's for veeeeery beginning readers. But there's hardly even a story to follow.)
