This is not a self-help book. It is a narrative where "Jan Levine opens her heart wide to share the raw story of her past, which, by the grace of God, eventually helped lead her to the redemptive life of her present. Beginning with the jarring events of her childhood leading into the wayward choices and experiences of youth and adulthood, she weaves through her pain-filled ...more

I'm a bit partial to this story, as I had the opportunity to watch part of Jan's story unfold in person for a couple of years. As she shared her life with me in that season, I had no clue the freedom in which she was learning to walk.

Jan's story is one of hope and healing, and further confirmation that you are never too far gone for the loving grace of Christ to reach you. Her memoir will encourage strong believers, inspire new believers, and call non-believers to consider the God who saves and

A life transformed

This can be a painful read but so can life be a painful ride, thg e first two thirds of this book are about a girl and her ride down down and down. Like many there seems no end of way out yet there is and Jan has braved the storm and been courageous in telling her story as she experienced it. You have to read this in order to read the end and see and feel a pain that is yours to experience and feel or ignore which I personally believe would be more heart breaking that the journ

I got this book for free so thought I'd give it a try. It sounded interesting, but I think it's really the kind of book that the author's friends and family will get something out of. For the rest of us, it's just a long and sometimes confusing glimpse into her bad choices and how bad her life was because of them. The majority of the book is all about that with just a small bit at the end covering her "journey to restoration" without really going into much detail.

While I'm sure the author's bel

Scarred is such a beautiful depiction of God's grace, mercy, restoration, and love. This book takes you on a heart-wrenching journey through Jan's heartbreaking childhood, tragic losses, her years of rebellion, and how God turned all of that upside down. Scarred is an easy read, and quite the page turner, that leaves you feeling as if you experienced Jan's life with her. Buy it. Read it. You won't regret it.
