The Dark of the Moon isn't a book you speed through, it's one you savour as missing something could impact everything.. And my review will be fairly vague because it's one of those where if I slip up, it could ruin the whole reading experience.

I won't deny, I spent the first 25% confused as there's so much to take on board: the plot is intricate and we have multiple POV's, although it's predominately the main protagonists, Serena and Sebastian at the helm. But everything is described in such de

I am so glad I started reading this book on a Friday cause I couldn’t stop reading! This is a fantastic fantasy book.

The world E.S. Bell created is wonderful and so well built I felt I was actually there. That’s what I like about fantasy novels, that I can escape to faraway lands and see and experience things I would never be able to experience in real life. This book did just that. It was magical.

The characters were complex and well developed. I loved Selena and her kin

Warning: fangirling ahead of you. Read at your own risk :-D

Some weeks ago Emma Scott dropped a bomb on her FB page: she wrote fantasy under another pen name!

As:

I love Emma Scott’s writing;
I love fantasy;
Said blurb mentioned pirates, Paladin, magic and other fantastical creatures;
I must have drooled on the cover and had to clean my screen afterwards

I NEEDED this book!

Now my own risk was of course disappointment as I had very high expectations….BUT I’m very, very,

OH. EM. GEE. This book was MAGNIFICENT . I usually only stick to romance but when I found out that E.S. Bell is none other than the amazing Emma Scott, I had to check this one out!

I was so engrossed with this epic story. There was pirates, magical creatures, sword fighting, magic, and so so SO much more!

I received a copy of The Dark of the Moon to read and review in advance of its release. I have to be in the mood to be swept up in a fantasy/paranormal type story, it isn't my go-to type of read, so when The Dark of the Moon was offered, I did stop and consider for about half a second before I jumped in with both feet.

The author is familiar to me, I'm not outing their identity here, others may, but that isn't my place. They chose a pen name for a reason on this novel, so I'll stick with that...

AC Book Blog (Anne Christine)
OMG!!!! Is this book for real!? While paranormal/fantasy is not my normal genre, I have to say I am blown away by this phenomenal book. I am in awe of E.S. Bell’s beautifully written words and her fascinating, imaginative mind. This author surprised us all with a very unique story compared to what she has written in the past. It’s bold and beautiful. I admit I had a difficult time keeping up and remembering all the terms. I am blaming that solely on English as my second language though :). Some ...more

OMG!!! This was one of the most amazing and mind-blowing reading experiences I've ever made. My heart and mind are still caught within the pages of this epic book because I can't let this story and the characters go. I refuse it! I want them back and need the next book in this saga like my next breath!

I love the fantasy genre and the way it challenges my imagination. And let me tell you that this book was fantasy at it's best! The Dark of the Moon (Book I in the Chronicles of Lunos saga) took me

Fantasy novels have been my guilty pleasure since I was a teenager and I'm still a huge fan of this genre. I love how these books allow me to escape reality and immerse myself in the unique world the author has created. It's amazing how E.S. Bell's captivating writing has created a picturesque setting for this epic saga. I could see it in front of my eyes: various places, some dark and dangerous while others beautiful and mesmerizing and mysterious creatures whose appearance equally fascinated a ...more

I was so excited when I heard that one of my favorite authors was writing one of my favorite genres. The Dark of the Moon did not disappoint. From the very first scene, I was hooked and putting it down was TORTURE. I was transported to a different world, immersed in a story that was unexpected and rich. I'll write a full review when I'm able to do it justice. But definitely one of my top reads of the year and I HIGHLY recommend it!

Stars clarification: 4.5 Stars

After the first third of this book, I was not quite so sure if I'm going to like it. Just to be honest. It was not easy for me to adjust but somehow, without realizing it, I was in midst of the story around half time, I felt almost part of the crew. By the end of the book I was so attached to each crew member that I felt lost, when I finished the last chapter.

Oh. My. God. Now, now. Where is my jaw? It just hit the floor so hard I don’t think I can get it back soon.

You have to know a thing about me. I’m very, very picky when it comes to fantasy. The cover, the blurb, the title… all have to click together to get me in the line. And I was so in the line for this one.

E.S. Bell has done something that very few have been able to do for me. Anything romance is my genre or choosing. Not since the days of JK Rowling, Suzanne Collins, Stephenie Meyer, and Veronica Roth have I been so engrossed in a book of this genre. Without a doubt one of my favorites!!

I was hesitant to read this because really I was just too much in my own head. But, I'm familiar with the author. I love her writing and get sucked into anything she writes. And again I was not disappointed in th

E.S. Bell's debut novel Dark of the Moon was phenomenal. It's a well-written impressive mainstream fantasy packed with adventure. The world and characters E.S. Bell has created are extensive and thorough. It's rich in legend, folklore, religion, and culture of the various nations of Lunos. The introduction to this world is well-paced and explained in an interesting way. The author doesn't overwhelm you with too much jargon. This novel was a long and enjoyable read. It is written in third person point of view, but offers other perspectives from other characters besides the major ones. It combines so many themes including love, action, adventure, betrayal, magic, and vengeance. Every character has an agenda, but it not always forthcoming. It keeps you guessing as to how the characters will change or what they will become.

The Dark of The Moon is the first book in a new fantasy series by E.S. Bell (another pen name for author Emma Scott). Like many first books in a fantasy series, there is a lot of world building initially so that the reader is able to understand and follow the storyline.

Selena Koren is a powerful Paladin and Summoner. During a previous war Selena was required to wipe out 12,000 Zak'reth using her summoning powers. Due to a miscalculation, Selena also wiped out the settlement of innocent people w

I love dragons and stories with them so add the pirate/ship part intrigued by the blurb. E.S. Bell also known as Emma Scott first foray into fantasy under a different pen name. On Lunos, where the sea is vast, and the land was broken apart by dragons centuries ago, sailors have the power. Sebastian Vaas is one such sailor. He's also a skilled assassin hired to do one last job: kill Selena Koren, a powerful Paladin for the Aluren, and their Moon Temple.
