Audiobook Review: Beguiled (Cutter's Creek) by Vivi Holt (Author), Paul Curtis (Narrator)

Beguiled is an adventure of the heart. Holt writes the best heroines. Fearless, intriguing and irresistible. Scarlet is no exception. Fear drove her, hope saved her and love found her. What began as a ruse, has become a necessity and could end up costing her a heart. Holt gives bravery a heart with never ending twists and heart-stopping emotion. Curtis breathes new life into an exhilarating tale.

A charming and sweet romance!

Scarlett had a hard life yet was determined to make a better life for herself. Through struggles and hardships, Scarlett stumbled upon an opportunity that she couldn’t pass up. A roof over her head and food she needed but she didn’t expect to find a man that would take over her heart. Joe sent for a mail order bride not knowing what to expect when she got there. Joe was a good one and believed in doing the right thing however sometimes doing the right thing is not w

I like the hero on the book cover better than the audio book. I respect Joe for trying to honor the contract to Minnie, but Minnie was the one to break the contract. Joe also made a promise to Scarlett, and I feel he did not look hard enough for Minnie, or wait long enough for a response. Scarlett deserved better from Joe, because in her heart she believed she wasn't good enough because of her past. Even when she broke down and confessed she had no where to go, Joe still did not back down from h ...more

Love finds a way

Scarlett's lot in life as a soiled dove wasn't by choice. In an effort to escape, she seizes an opportunity to replace a mail order bride who has changed her mind about marrying a stranger. Much to her dismay, Scarlett's plans to keep moving are waylaid when she finds herself falling for Joe. Plans are made, promises are made, all is well. Nope! Enter Minnie, the reluctant bride. As usual, Vivi Holt has added a wonderful chapter to the Cutters Creek saga.

Recommends it for: all ages; no offensive material
This sweet western romance ticks all the boxes that mail-order-bride readers expect plus a few unexpected and original ones. The likable characters are imperfect and must make life-changing moral and emotional decisions in order to redeem and restore a happy existence. Recommended for all ages; contains no offensive material

This story made me laugh and made me cry. This is a story of redemption for a former saloon girl and the cowboy who fall Iove. He breaks a promise to her by keeping his word to another. Though he loves her he has to make up his mind, love or honor? Will he make the right decision before something bad happens? I received a complimentary audio and this review is voluntary.

Love Story

Single school teacher adopts six orphaned children, meets and marries the man of her dreams. She offers a former saloon girl who meets and marries the man of her dreams. Some bumps in the road to make the story interesting.

Better than the blurb

The only thing that kept me from giving this great story a five was the grammatical errors and, in two cases, ridiculously bad use of a wrong word (meaning did not fit the context at all).
If you don't care about that you're sure to read and enjoy.

Scarlett is, in fact, a scarlet woman and considered a soiled dove. Escaping from a villain, she poses as a mail-order bride, hoping for a few meals and a place to stay before she moves on. Plenty to ponder as we view another aspect of frontier life.

Setting: 1867 mostly in Cutter's Creek Montana
Hero: Joe- Cowboy/Ranch hand, kind hearted tries to be true to his word.
Heroine: Scarlet - Soiled dove NOT by choice, hard life, did best she could to have a better life, which by her standards was nothing more than a safe place to sleep and a good meal, with a job that didn’t include/involved a saloon.
2nd h/strong secondary Character: Minnie- she was to be Joe's M/O bride but got cold feet (I see book with her story I hope!!). Couldn’t help but like
