This collection of 20 poems is a study in the ephemeral and the elusive, in the little things like mayflies and beetles, but also in the delicate flicker of shadows. Mostly it aims to express the intangible and barely accessible, such as Grief which permeates the collection:

“From Every Moment a Second“, published by Finishing Line Press, is aptly named. Robert Okaji is a poet with a gift for examining and expanding the small details of life in a language that reads like a dream.

“Who knows where bird
begins and tree

ends,

which branch shifts
snow, which bears
eternity.”

He has a way of weaving the natural world with the human one and making it feel right and effortless.

Robert’s poems are relatively short and seem simple. I said seem. Each polished gem is the kind of poem you fall into, without worrying if you will “get” it or not, and an array of meanings will wash over you without effort on your part, but the reward is great –an emotional and intellectual payoff.
