Yet again, I'm let down by the fine readers/reviewers of Goodreads. Realistic characters? Yeah, right! Realistic plot? Come on now! If federal agencies were this well organized and cooperative, we wouldn't have the mass shootings and terrorist threats that we're living with on a daily basis. I've never worked for the FBI, or any police agency for that matter. But, I know that the unwillingness to share data between agencies is historic. This book would have you believe that all anti-crime, anti-terrorist agencies belong to one big club that gets together periodically to compare notes and share their findings.
Okay, I was going to rattle off a list of things that I thought were exaggerated including the incredible ingenuity of the primary antagonist . . . and the protagonist for that matter. The list was long. But hey, I finished the book and gave it three stars, so it wasn't all that bad. I just didn't think it was representative of what really goes on. It just came across to me as sheer fiction.
This is my 3rd Sean Kruger book to read and it has stayed true to form - a good book, good plot, engaging characters and moves along. I really like Sean and his family and friends. The reason I didn't give it 5-stars was because of the evil villain in the book. Yes, villains need to be bad and do bad things, but this man was just so far over the top in evil that I found it disturbing and, if I'm that disturbed by evil in a book, I deduct a star for it. I know there are probably people in this world who are that evil, but I pray I never cross paths with one of them! Other than my phobia against extreme evil, it was a very good book.
This is a formulaic suspense story, and as in the previous books in this series, the computer technology is quite inaccurate. But I like the characters, and the plot, though a bit unrealistic, isn't over the top.
Paul J McSorley performs well and has found just the right voices for these characters. It's great that he's reading this entire series so far.

Well written and developed. Interesting Story line with believable characters and realistic actions. Quite a bit of rule bending by law enforcement officers (though I'm sure this is reality) that makes good sense, but would offer many problems. Good escape vehicle...enjoyed the ride with the cast...
Third book and FINALLY I actually wanted to get back to the story and characters. The writer, Fields, obviously had some writing advice or a good editor because a lot of the issues that I had in the first two books were not as glaring in this one. I will actually consider continue the journey with Sean Kruger and his crew.
The characters are so real, and the ways/ whys that Randy gets transportation and/or women is unreal ! Love Sean,JR,Joseph-ALL the lawmen( except Dollar !) awesome how things are tracked....It’s about time Dollar got busted permanently!!Can’t wait for the next book ....
Another great story. Randolph Bishop reappears after six years on the FBI's most wanted list and continues to leave a trail of innocent victims, and he has Sean Krueger at the top of his most wanted list. Follow the team as they chase Bishop and discover there is more to him than a narcissistic psychopath, something even more evil.
Other than all the murders, the books show more action and interest. The author does a good job of putting the story flow together and the description of the characters fit to make the book better. There is so much going on. There isn’t a dead spot in the book. You start reading and want to finish in one setting.
Fields does a really good thriller read! He held my attention to a villain that grew bigger in his violence as the book progressed. That’s a good thing to do when you want your readers hearts thumping. I do think tho that his “good guy” main character is a bit over the top when it comes to mak8ng choices between his family and his FBI. Crazy stupid is what it is.
I listened to the audiobook version of this boxed set and it was amazing. Paul the narrator did an great job with all the accents and suspense. Would highly recommend to all thrillers and FBI/CiA/SPY fanatics. Lots of action and suspense.
As in the prior two books of the series, retired FBI Agent Sean Kruger gets pulled back into one of the cases where he did not catch the man, Randolph Bishop, a nasty, intelligent serial killer.
An active, unpredictable story that will keep you reading.
If you like well developed stories and characters this one is a must read for you! Love Sean Kruger and every member of his team and their families! Can't wait for the next adventure!
This was a very riveting story. I enjoyed it very much. The people I enjoyed meeting and the plot just had to be followed to the very end. Thanks for writing it for us.
Randy is one slippery guy and Krueger was up for the challenge again. Loved the character development and how they are reintroduced from earlier books. The story is riveting and holds your interest until the end. Have recommended this book to my readers.
I truly enjoyed this book as I have the first 2 in the series. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is due to spelling and some grammatical errors that caused me to reread some things. Lots of action and good story line. Definitely worth the read.
Book 3 of this series was very intense The action was dynamic! The characters were well drawn and familiar. I can't wait to read the next one. A real page turner!
Another action packed novel where Sean now married and a father is chasing a serial killer from the past. As if he did not have enough incentive to hunt the killer down his wife and daughter are kidnapped. The investigation uncovers a bigger plot out of Thailand. Great reading
I'm amazed that this author can write so many fantastic novels, I hope that he never stops writing. His books are some of the best Entertainment I have read and worth the time to read them. Thank you for a very fun entertaining read.
Great storyline with great characters in this third of the series. Sean Kruger is a great character and I am looking forward to the next one in the series.
Very interesting and entertaining story about murder and revenge and strong investigative skills. Law enforcement agencies cooperate with each other in this story.
In this, the third, of the Sean Kruger series attacks on US citizens are stopped. The only perp who escaped Kruger justice is in the cross hairs again.
This hold series has keep me spellbound what a roller coaster ride that gives the reader one exciting twist after another. Just when you think you have it worked out the author throws another twist that has you scratching your head. This is by far the best book in this series but as a whole it is one fantastic listen that holds your attention from the first page until the last. Randolph Bishop comes home to rack mayhem again, he has work on his killing skills to a fine tooth comb leaving many women dead in county he ran to, to outrun the law. As the story come about face there are more dead bodies than can be counted is this a new serial killer or could Randolph Bishop be back. With these new killings hitting a little too close for home Profiler Sean Kruger comes out of retirement to once and for all take RANDY out any way he can.
The narrator has done a wonderful job pulling me in taking me away as the scenes play in my head. It is like pictures moving as each scene unfolds my heart beats fast, I take shorter breaths and at times hold them. I am so spellbound I set in a daze watching the killer kill again and again. He has no trouble pulling the listener in by showing true emotion in his voice from excitement, danger, shock, fear that you have no trouble knowing what each character feels. I felt as if I was right beside each character feeling their emotions wanting to pull them out before the killer strikes. I was talking to and yelling at them, but they didn’t listen and I closed my eyes letting the events soak in only to be taking on another wild emotional ride that left me more breathless than the last. The narrator’s character voices are wonderful I always know who is talking and what they are feeling. His female voices have improved I didn’t notice all the issues I did with the first two books, I feel in time and a little more work he will have them peg. He pauses when he needs and speeds up to get the full excitement that holds you on the edge. His normal voice is just as nice as his character voices which are smooth, clear, even as he gives it the right pitch to make you feel the emotions the author wants you to. There are no background noises, no volume changes, if any breaks were taken I could not tell. He was able to really pulling me in through emotions and tones that grabbed me from the first page until the end. I really hated when it came to the end I wanted the story to go on and on. I can’t wait to listen to more of his work and I do hope he continues this series.
The author feeds you just enough to hook you as he plays out the plot that grabs you and never lets you go. I loved the characters he gives them true emotions, normal everyday people with the same issues as we have. The adventure is exciting, thrilling and dangerous. I loved the characters feel like your family and friends and when they die you feel like you have truly lost them. The plot is outstanding, you can tell a lot of thought went in to it. My heart went out to the man who didn’t like people looking at him and as the story unfolds it went out even more. I really liked how Sean and his friend worked out what was going on. I think for the most part my heart broke the most for Bishops brother and his wife, so many years wasted because of an unkind brother who thought only of his self. It was great to see the characters from the past books, see how they were doing, what was new in their lives and to see how the plot affected their lives. As the end came I was cheering which made my shopping trip a little more interesting with people looking at me like I was nuts. I knew before I started this last book I was going to be truly affected and become very invested in the story so much, so I was in my own little world. I really hope there is more to come and can’t wait to listen to more of this series. By far this is one of my favorite listens of the year.
This entry into the Sean Kruger series took all of the mystery and suspense from the last one and amped it up. May be my favorite of the series. Highly recommend
"5* all the way" I loved this book and couldn't put it down. An FBI tale of the highest quality. Narrators voice is smooth and easy making it a pleasure to listen to.
