Mairi Maclean is kidnapped from her clan the day she’s to wed another by Alec, Chief of the Mac Neil clan of Barra Isle. He plans on stealing her off and make her his wife as revenge against Clan MacInnes, for the murder of his own wife. He’s surprised by Mairi demanding a kiss when he barges in to steal her away (there’s a story behind that). The prospect of marrying Mairi becomes sweeter after the passionate kiss they share, but her attitude towards Alec swiftly changes when she reali

My review cross-posted from Wit and Sin

Alec MacNeil has a simple plan for revenge: kidnap his enemy’s bride on her wedding day and marry her himself. But Mairi Maclean is no wilting flower. She challenges him, tempts him, and isn’t about to give in and marry some man just because he says so. But even though she’s his captive, it’s not long before Mairi is breathing new life into Alec’s home. And the longer the two of them are around one another, the more difficult it becomes for them to resist

I jumped into The Wolf of Kisimul Castle without having read the first two books in the Highland Isles series with no problems at all. The story for Alec and Mairi stands completely on it's own. Although the plot is simple and straight forward, I still enjoyed seeing the story unfold. There is a good balance between the inevitable romance between Mairi and Alec and the trouble that led Alec to kidnap her and the fall out and action that takes place afterward. McCollum provides enough tension bet ...more

Overall I enjoyed the story. I liked Mairi, she was pretty smart and resilient. I did not love Alec, but he was ok. I hate the dead ex trope so it detracted from my enjoyment. Not that she was talked about a lot, but she was the reason he stole Mairi and had only died a few months (maybe close to a year) prior; so she was ever-present. It is a personal preference issue and one I find difficult to look past.

The kids were cute and sweet. But I thought their relationship with their dad was

'The Wolf of Kisimul Castle by Heather McCollum is Book Three in the "Highland Isles" series. This is the story of Mairi Maclean and Alec MacNeil.  I have read the other book in this series (and LOVED THEM!) but feel this can easily be a standalone book.

Mari first marriage was for family alliance, which turned out very bad.  Mari first husband was an older and hateful man. Whose son mistreated her when he was away.  But now her husband is dead and she has returned to her brother. Tor Maclean (w

Vengeance with a twist.

Scottish Highlands 1523.
Mairi Maclean knew that marriages were clan alliances, no matter that her first marriage went badly. Now widowed, she's again decided to marry for clan. Just before her wedding she learned that her fiancé intended to send a handsome friend to kiss her. If she enjoyed the kiss she might break off the wedding. Not that Mairi was going to do that! As she sad though, “Drunken plans should not be made the night before weddings!”

I really loved this book !

A bride for a bride. Alec McNeil had revenge on his mind when he kidnapped Mairi Maclean. The lonely highlander found his perfect match in fiesty spitfire Mairi. I adored this charming couple and the quick witted banter that flew between them, and Alec's children were adorable.

This was a very romantic story that had everything it needed to keep me captivated. The characters were amazing and the plot was emotional. It even had a couple of twists and some suspense. The

So, I’ll just be here…waiting to be carried away by a rugged highlander.

I just loved this book! The writing captured me right away. In Heather McCollum's The Wolf of Kisimul Castle, Mairi Maclean is about to be wed when a highlander comes into her room and spirits her away to his cursed fortress. But Mairi is no shrinking violet, and if Alec MacNeil thinks Mairi will just show up at the church like an obedient bride, he’s got another think coming.

This is the first book I've read by Heather McCollum and it didn't disappoint. This book was different than most of the Historical Romances that I typically come across. It's rare to stumble upon a historical romance written in the 1500's, at least for me; most of the books I pick up are anywhere from the late 1700's to the late 1800's. Yes, she's taken hostage which is kinda common in historical romances but what's different is, Alec gives her pretty much

I received a copy of this e-book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Mairi, who is a widow, is about to marry again. No love involved, it's a marriage of political gain. That wedding is about to be interrupted...

Alec has come to kidnap a bride and that bride is Mairi. The man Mairi is to marry is responsible for the death of Alec's wife so in Alec's eyes, a bride for a bride. So he kidnaps Mairi and brings her back to Kisimul Castle.

Will Mairi consent to be his bride and share his life?

Highland Isles Series #3

Another stellar story from Heather McCollum! I loved Mairie and Alec and the story of their wooing. That first scene, the kiss, the kidnapping and along the way saving a few dogs…all in the name of revenge – a bride for a bride – right – that is what Alec thinks as he kidnaps Mairie and steals her away on her wedding day taking her to Kisimul Castle with plans to take her as his wife.

The introduction was superb. Meeting Alec’

I LOVED The Wolf of Kisimul Castle than the previous 2 books in the series. This one is a standalone and worth reading.

From the beginning, the story captured my heart. The story line kept me hooked till the end.

I have never read any of Heather's books before but I really enjoyed this one.

Thumbs up!!!

The book was good, except the kidnapping part, her being a prisoner, etc. This book was a great change from other kidnapped heroine books, (e.g. Captive Bride by Johanna Lindsey). The hero never touched her forcefully or roughly. I don't like the hero kidnaps heroine and they fall in love theme. Except that theme, this book was ABSOLUTELY amazing!
Alec did kidnap her from her home, but he himself went back and let her brother know where she is to set her free after she made plain she does not w

This is the first book I've read by this author and I wasn't left disappointed. The Wolf of Kisimul Castle was fun, entertaining with plenty of drama to keep you hooked.

Heather McCollum has done it again, my fellow Scottish romance book-loving friends. Book 3, The Wolf of Kisimul Castle, was just as intriguing and engaging as the previous two books in her Highland Isles series.

Honestly, I can’t think of a single thing I didn’t love about this romantic tale. Alec, the hero, played his role perfectly as the lone wolf, widowed laird struggling to raise two children in a mostly abandoned castle many claim to be cursed. Surprisingly his knucklehead act of revenge ba

This book series from the very first story, has been truly rapturous and exhilarating to read, and The Wolf Of Kisimul Castle by Heather McCollum has the outstanding series continuing. Focussing on Mairi and Alec's characters, the story has action, cheekiness, romance and scorching moments that manage to ensnare readers attentions and hold them captive to the dialogue in the story. Ugh, Kids
I do not like kids in my romances. I think they ruin the chemistry. Because this is my personal taste and not a reflection on the writing or story I still gave the book 5stars. Apart from the children this was a very good book. I liked Alec, he was sweet and sexy. Mairi was a little boring, but I liked her ability to make the best out of every situation. Their romance was sweet and well developed. I liked the drama of the ending.

The Wolf of Kisimul Castle is the first book I’ve read by Heather McCollum and I enjoyed it from start to finish. It is part of a series, but it is not necessary to read the others, as it’s a standalone book.
