Another good addition to this military series

There's a very important message in these books from Jessie G and that is that family are the people who love you and are cheerleaders for you, whether they're blood or not.

In this story, which has a bit of an odd beginning as it starts with a chapter of set up from two other character POVs, once things kick off, the reader is gifted with a tale about how just being visible as a friend can be so important to someone dealing with life changing circumst

I was so confused in the beginning. The book starts out with the POV's of Aiden and Jared. I really liked Aiden and his story seemed interesting, but when I got to chapter three the POV switched again to another character and I had to go and read the blurb. Turns out Aiden and Jared aren't the MC's, Shane and Julian are.

Although Shane and Julian's portion of the story starts off a bit awkward and rushed, once the author really got to the meat of their story and concentrated on them,

You won't forget these soldiers

It's no secret I'm a Jessie G. fangirl but she has written another story packing lots of emotional punch. Sean Murphy is badly injured during an accident on an aircraft carrier. Jared Ramos, who appeared in the Sizzling Miami series, has made Sean the first focus of his foundation for veterans. He brings Julian, Sean's cousin and Shane, his best friend, in to support and help Sean and those two also find a romantic connection between them.

There are three POV's in t

Great book with a promise of more to come (an audio review)

The audiobook begins with a prologue – a quick explanation of where the characters fit in other series written by the author. A quick reminder for fans, no big deal if this is your first foray into her work. Then there is a short story which starts this new series. In ‘Micah’s Soldier’, Garrison is coming home, not expecting anyone to greet him. He is facing what many soldiers do – no teary reunions, no families to embrace them – just an

Model looks like a young Colin Farrell (my opinion) and that's what initially grabbed my attention... I mean, how could he NOT? In the background, a man armed with a military weapon and geared for hazardous conditions is seen. Synopsis is intriguing and once again, the military theme pulls me in. Plus, being a #Charity book, I am more apt to read and/or support it.

I was counting down the days until this book was released and couldn't wait to get my hands on it. Just like I thought, Jessie certainly didn't disappoint!

Jared Ramos has started a charity, The Ramos Foundation that helps soldiers in need. When he comes across Sean, a man involved in a two- seater plane crash causing him to be trapped between cargo containers on the deck of an aircraft carrier. The crash left him partially paralyzed. Jared brings together Shane, Sean's best friend who was back h

Treading Water is book 2 in the Forgotten Soldier series and I loved this book. I loved Micah's story, but I loved Sean, Shane and Julian's even more.

When Sean is injured in a freak accident on a naval ship, Jared Ramos and the Ramos Foundation arrange for Sean's closest people to be there for him. Shane, Sean's best friend and fellow soldier, and Julian, Sean's cousin and closest relative immediately drop everything to be with Sean in the hospital in Jacksonville until he can be transferred to

I read Micah's Soldier at the tail end of 2015. About it I said, "Not particularly deep, but well developed for something so short. It's also very sweet." So when I saw an audio version of the sequel available I was happy to give it a go.

I had a mixed experience with Treading Water. I really thought Shane and Julian were a cute couple and I liked the way their relationship progressed. I thought the writing was pretty good and I liked that injured soldiers were shown to have lives even after inj

Jessie set high expectations for this series with the introduction of not only Jared in the Sizzling Miami series but of Micah and Garrison in Micah’s Soldier. While the issues conquered in this story are really heavy, the story is filled with love, hope and support.

And as always she slightly teases us with a couple of characters that are only supporting cast in this book.

There are really 3 main characters in this story and I hope we see them throughout the rest of the series. However, I’m goi

What can I say about Jessie G's books? She truly puts her heart into her books. I walk away smarter, and having truly felt what these men feel, and you can't say that about all authors, or their books.
Treading Water is a book I waited a long time for. I loved Micah's Soldier even though it was a short story. Jessie really touched on the needs of a soldier, and those that are left behind, even with such a short story, so I was anxious to see what she would do with a full story with soldiers, and

Treading Water is book 2 in the Forgotten Soldier series by Jessie G., while it can be read as a standalone, Micah and Garrison, who featured in the first book appear in this one as well. I suspect it might be best if you read both in order, even if I didn't really feel lost for not having read Micah's Soldier.

I loved Jared and Aiden and I was a bit disappointed (okay, a lot disappointed) when I realized this wasn't their story. You see, I'm not overly fond of multiple POVs, although I

This is the second but first full novel in the new series Forgotten Soldier (the first book is a free short story called Micha’s Soldier)

Shane and Julian are brought together at The Ramos Foundation by Jared Ramos who support and care for military personnel. Sean who is Julian’s cousin and served under Shane has had a serious accident which ends up with him in a military hospital and alone for the past few weeks. Once Shane and Julian are made aware they build a dynamic duo unit to help Sean pus

This is hard. There was a lot to like about this story, but also a lot of things that really didn't work for me at all.

First of all, the beginning. The first couple of chapters are from the point of view of Jared Ramos and his assistant Aidan - and I got quite invested in them. I wanted more. Except, it turned out, they were not our MCs and when Shane and Julian were introduced, Jared and Aidan was left behind. I felt cheated and very unsatisfied, because I really didn't care about Shan

In this audiobook you get the short story, Micah’s Soldier and Treading Water. Micah’s Soldier is a lovely homecoming story that introduces us to the conception of helping injured and returning soldiers. For a short story there is a lot of emotions. I felt Garrison’s loneliness coming through when he thought no one would be there to meet him on his return. My heart went out to Micah still looking out for Garrison even though he had pushed him away. Very enjoyable narration bringing these two cha ...more

I was totally blown away by Book 2 of the Forgotten Soldier series, TREADING WATER which I just finished listening to on Audible. This was an amazing journey that was years in the making. We recently celebrated Veterans Day and this book is a wonderful tribute to them. There's so much about this story that kept me reading, despite having to stop write down the names of the main characters that were similar so I could keep track of their relationships. Sometimes I would rewind to relisten to a hu ...more

This is my review of the audiobook, which includes the first two books in Jessie G's Forgotten Soldier series, and they are both wonderful. The stories are tied together by their involvement with a new foundation set up by Jared Ramos and friends. The foundation was set up in order to provide for the needs of military members who are not fully helped through normal channels.
First is the short story, Micah's Soldier. We meet Marine Garrison, who is returning from his final deployment with expecta

I wanted to like this book more than I did and I think the way it started had a lot to do with it. At the beginning we focused on the founder of a foundation to help wounded vets return to civilian life. We had initially met the guy in "Micah, Forgotten Solder #1." Also entering the picture is a young man that just showed up to help the founder get his office set up and become his assistant to answer phones, etc. Well, I and I think anyone else reading this book would presume we now had our MC's ...more

From that review: " After some initial confusion about the opening, I found Treading Water (Forgotten Soldier #2) by Jessie G to be a heartwarming and wonderful story about love, recovery and family.  I haven't read the first story so the beginning pages about Jared, Aiden and The Ramos Foundation threw me.  At first I thought I'd fallen into the wrong story and had to read the blu

Loved this book so much!! An outstanding story with a tragic accident, crazy religious nutjobs, two cousins who are closer than brothers and a closeted military man. Seriously, what's not to love?? I love it when a book has a friends to lovers story. Shane was everything I love in Jessie's characters. He reminds me of Chris from her Sizzling Miami series, damaged but not broken. I wanted him to get his HEA, I needed it as much as he did, lol.

Now, for Treading Water. You might find yourself wondering why the beginning of the story seems to focus on Jared and Aidan but there is a reason behind this (at least I think so). This lays the foundation on why this case is so important to everyone. Shane and Julian will instantly dig their way under your skin and you will be cheering and crying for them. Key West is described so well that you will swear the sand is between your toes. And can I just say how much Sean touched me?

Definitely a Good Read

Treading Water was a look behind a group of friends trying to help injured soldiers returning from the war. The hard work and tears they put into helping their friend Sean, who had a spinal injury was really a growing experience for all of them. I really liked reading this book, it showed me how little I really know about the wounded soldiers coming home and all the different problems they have. Definitely a good read.

Good

this was a really good read. Although I have to admit that sometimes I got lost between scenes because it has already changed days and I didn't even notice it. I had to reread a few times to understand that it was a complete new day. But overall the plot was really really good and it got me in the heart many times. So I totally recommend it. So grab a copy and read it. Happy reading!

This is very well written. Liked the story! And the characters as well. Only thing is the multiple POV kind of distracted from the main characters. It got me a bit confused as to what exactly was super important. Overall another good book by Jessie G :)

I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily reviewing.

More than five stars

There's rare times I wish I could rate a book with 1000 stars. This being one of those few. These characters and the trials they face to get to their HEA. Just floor me.
I would and do recommend this book to everyone I know.

Julian is so great

Julian and Shane’s story was great. I love a coming out the closet story. I got a little frustrated with Shane during the process but we get our HEA! Jared was a great character and I was glad Esme got him moving forward!

Like many readers, the dream of being a writer has been with me a long time. After three decades of trying, I'd begun to doubt. Thanks to social media, I followed my favorite authors hoping to glean some words of wisdom as I pounded out half-formed ideas with alarming regularity. Two repetitive themes emerged: To be a great writer you must read a lot and your butt must be in the chair every day li ...more
