I devoured this book in 24 hours so it's safe to say I really enjoyed it! Dr Marie Wilson has spent seven years of her life working on a breakthrough scientific experiment: a portable solar panel that is based on plant technology. If the prototype she's made works, it could change the world. She's in a remote cabin in Montana, testing the prototype to make sure it works in extreme cold.

She finally has some interest after spending years being shunned as a pariah in the scientific community, thank I devoured this book in 24 hours so it's safe to say I really enjoyed it! Dr Marie Wilson has spent seven years of her life working on a breakthrough scientific experiment: a portable solar panel that is based on plant technology. If the prototype she's made works, it could change the world. She's in a remote cabin in Montana, testing the prototype to make sure it works in extreme cold.

She finally has some interest after spending years being shunned as a pariah in the scientific community, thanks to her ex who stole her previous idea and patented it as his own. Her millionaire father won't give her a cent, so she's reached out to everyone she can think of and finally has another scientist interested. However, what Marie doesn't know is that there is a group of people known as The Syndicate who stand to lose a lot if her technology is validated, and so they arrange for her prototype - and her - to disappear.

David Quinn is ex-Special Forces and he's part of a motley crew trying to track down a thief who stole something from his mentor, but when he arrives at the destination he finds a terrified woman who swears the invention is her own. After the goons he's with make threats to harm her, he realises something is very wrong and helps her escape. When David overhears something he shouldn't, he realises Marie was not the only target. They then spend several long days playing hide and seek with the people trying to kill them both.

What was refreshing about this book is that unlike most romantic suspense books, both the protagonists and the reader know the who and why from the very beginning. It's all about the chase, and the sizzling attraction between David and Marie that won't be denied. He thinks he wants to live his days along on his property, and she thinks she can't ever trust a man again, but it turns out they're both wrong... they just have to live long enough to realise it.

It was clear the author had done her research about the scientific sub-plot and there was some amusing banter that lightened the book in places. If you enjoy romantic suspense, then you'll enjoy this book. ...more

Renting a cabin in the middle of a snow storm might not have been Marie's best idea, but her solar panel needed testing in such conditions. When four men invade that cabin, saying they need the panel, she knows her life might be over before she got her panel tested. David is one of those four men. This new to me author caught my eye because of the lure of danger and mystery. With Dr Marie leading the way and the door opening with science that gets you interested. When the danger comes crashing you will jump and be quickly snatched to the edge. All us that salivate over alphas in enters David a ex special forces. Together these two will keep you on your toes, on the edge as danger comes after them full speed. Lessons will come hard and fast with romance not forgotten to beat the heart too.

Marlow Kelly has some memorable lines in this thriller/mystery romance. The one that hooked me even before I opened it:

I do love some good banter.

Granite City, MT. Dr. Marie Wilson (scientist, mechanical engineering, organic chemistry) had to drive several miles to get to her rustic cabin (highway # 89) as the landlord described it to her.
Professor Hargreaves (Montana Tech, DoE) would soon join her.
It defiantly wasn’t him at the door.

Wow. Just wow. This book has it all. Thrills, lots of suspense, romance, very fast paced, a plot line that makes perfect sense, and more twists than a mountain trail. Seriously, this book is everything I’ve been craving in a romantic suspense book for a while now. This book moves very quickly. Don’t even try to catch your breath and be prepared to start it and have the need to finish it in one sitting.

David and Marie are some of the more mismatched people that an author can come up with as a her Wow. Just wow. This book has it all. Thrills, lots of suspense, romance, very fast paced, a plot line that makes perfect sense, and more twists than a mountain trail. Seriously, this book is everything I’ve been craving in a romantic suspense book for a while now. This book moves very quickly. Don’t even try to catch your breath and be prepared to start it and have the need to finish it in one sitting.

David and Marie are some of the more mismatched people that an author can come up with as a hero and heroine. Sure, we’ve all read the alpha Special Forces hero to the rescue of the naive, sheltered scientist but Ms. Kelly gives them qualities that they didn’t even think they had themselves. Marie does not come off as helpless, just confused. David is the biggest marshmallow and he knows it. He just doesn’t like to admit it to many people. Also, their backstories are powerful and lend themselves to the overall arc of the book and to the relationship.

I wish I could go into the plot with a lot of detail but that would spoil it. Let’s just say that Ms. Kelly sets up the whole story up from the beginning with most of the major players in place. You know the major plot points but Ms. Kelly has a way of throwing you off guard and decides she needs to add a person or two to really shake it up. I’m looking forward to her other stories in this series to further explore that. And yes, I can’t talk about it because, well, you just have to read the book and trust me, you will be gobsmacked. In fact, in some ways, it’s still processing in my head.

I can not tell you how much this book meant to me. It surprised me, left my neck hurting not to mention my fingers wrapped around my Kindle and can’t wait to dive into the next one in the series. Ms. Kelly is just brilliant in her storytelling, characterization and taking the romantic suspense/thriller genre to a whole new level. I can’t believe that I’m just finding out about her and the books that she has written.

Don’t do what I did and find out about her too late. You will definitely be sorry and kick yourself for it.

A really tough book to put down. This is a good thriller with lots of twists and turns. Marie is a child prodigy, a scientist trying to create another source of energy for us. A small mobile type of solar energy. One to help med units, army units, people living in the wild, well many, many things. I had such an amazing time getting to know David the special force agent sent to protect Marie the young scientists. The storyline had a-lot of twists and turns to keep turning the pages to find out what was gonna happen next.

Four men are hired to recover a stolen solar panel prototype. They track the prototype to a cabin in a remote location in the mountains. The four men have to trek through snow to reach the cabin. When they reach the cabin they barge in on the woman accused of stealing the prototype a Dr. Marie Wilson.

Upon entering the cabin they search it thoroughly but can’t find the prototype. The men discuss where she could have hidden the prototype and after getting a look of Marie the men also talk about w Four men are hired to recover a stolen solar panel prototype. They track the prototype to a cabin in a remote location in the mountains. The four men have to trek through snow to reach the cabin. When they reach the cabin they barge in on the woman accused of stealing the prototype a Dr. Marie Wilson.

The men discuss where she could have hidden the prototype and after getting a look of Marie the men also talk about what they plan to do to Marie. When one of the men hired to find the prototype, ex-military guy, David hears what the others are planning to do to Marie he wants no part of hurting a woman. David helps Marie to escape the other men. He has no idea what he has gotten himself into. After David and Marie escape he starts to believe Marie when she tells him that she didn’t steal anything that the prototype was her creation.

David overhears his friend and mentor the guy who talked him into taking this job and helping him out he learns that this guy is not the person David thought him to be. David learns that not only are they after Marie but they are after him as well both of their lives are in danger.

They can’t turn to the local police as they have already been bought out and are corrupted. With no one to trust they take to the road but everywhere they go the bad guys are there a head of them. How are they going to get out of this alive? Who can they trust? Wherever they show their heads bullets start flying.

Sun Storm is a very intense and suspenseful read that had me hooked from the first page. It started out with action from the beginning and didn’t let up until the very end. It had me racing through the pages rooting for Marie and David hoping that they were going to make it out alive. The suspense was so invigorating that it keep the adrenaline pumping.

Sun Storm is great introduction into The Gathering Storm series. The characters are all so warm and welcoming drawing you into their lives and making you fall in love with them. You wish that you were there with them to give them a hand. I would love to see more of these characters in future stories.

I would recommend Sun Storm to all fans of suspense or romantic novels with a whole lot of action. ...more

Sun Storm is my first introduction to Marlow Kelly’s writing. It, also, begins The Gathering Storm series. I had no problem having it read in a few hours. The suspense and mystery made me want to keep turning the pages to find out what would happen next with Dr Marie Wilson and David Quinn.

I give Sun Storm four and a half stars. I look forward to the next installment from The Gathering Storm series.

Not only is Sun Storm a wonderful romance, it’s also a great choice if you want something suspenseful.

All Marie wants to do is test her solar panel. It’s exactly that, however, that leads a group of thieves to her doorstep. They claim they’re there to recover the solar panel she stole from a local energy company, and it’s clear they’re willing to do whatever it takes to get it back.
