He was supposed to be my first and only one-night stand.
He was definitely never supposed to become my boss.

I had always been the good girl – the workaholic with every second of her life mapped out to a tee.

Then I got trapped in an elevator with Julian Hoult.

He was… irresistible. Sophisticated sex in a crisp white shirt. His voice alone dropped me straight to my knees. What was I supposed to do?

Well….

I can tell you what I was definitely not supposed to do.

I was not supposed to run into him ever again. I was not supposed to be desperately unemployed, and I was definitely not supposed to accept his dirty little job offer.

But I couldn’t resist.

As CEO of the Hoult Media empire, Julian will stop at nothing to get what he wants. So for his next venture with Manhattan’s most lecherous billionaires, he’s hired me to play the role of bait. And while my official title is that of Executive Assistant, my actual job requires low tops, tight skirts and flaunting everything I’ve got till his clients are easy to bend – till they can barely think for themselves anymore.

It’s sleazy and wrong. Against everything I’ve worked for. But with Julian as my audience, I can’t help but enjoy every second. Thanks to him, I’m embracing the bad, and I swear…

I’ve never in my life felt this damned good.

Holy Crap. I JUST finished reading this amazing book. I have not sat so deeply engrossed and read a book this fast in the longest time. Bad Boss was absolutely incredible. It was sexy, flirty and so fun and had a hot broody alpha male that would not quit and a sassy heroine that was his game changer. Good Lord was this amazing!! Sara and Julian were practically on fire!! Their chemistry was scorching and their banter just as hot. I could not get enough!!

I have read every Stella Rhys book and have FLOVED all of them but Bad Boss is the leader of the pack. I swear it came out of nowhere folks. By the blurb we think we are in for a hot, sassy romance with a Billionaire CEO and the spitfire he asks to work for him. Sounds like a fun and sexy romance, right? We get to watch ALL the fireworks combust from the bedroom to the boardroom. But LISTEN TO ME PEOPLE: this book is SO MUCH more. I swear to God it blew me away. It has hidden facets. It went from HOT, and sexy and flirty to having all the feels as readers can tell there is a dark and haunting mystery/source of grief in both Julian and Sara's pasts that have made them into the people they are today. And when it exploded?? BOOM!!! It was alllll the amazing drama people!! I could not put this down!!!

This book was just so damn fantastic that you would be doing yourself a diSservice if you didn't read this. While Bad Boss is the second book in the Irresistible series (and it was so much fun to see Lia and Lukas again), this book is a complete standalone. It was such a joy to read as this author completely rocked my world. I swear she just gets better and better each book. STELLA RHYS, I AM ADDICTED!! Bravo! 5 stars! ~Ratula

5 Not What I Expected Stars

 photo sohappy_zpsnccnxsun.gif

This was a super hot fun read. It had great characters plenty of LOL moments but at the same time covered some serious issues. The sex was intense and will leave you needing a cold shower!!!

Sara quits her job after 9 years of working for a promotion she just found out she'll never get. So she is pissed and scared but decides to give herself one night to live out a fantasy by finding herself a hot man/god that will give her everything she needs.

 photo julian_zpskwxcmphi.jpg

Julian is a workaholic billionaire, he is interested in nothing but the next big deal. He is super confident without being cocky, charming sweet but is still very alpha and strong.

When Julian and Sara meet sparks fly and the things they say to each other in that first meeting was so blunt and hot I had to do a double take and re-read just to make sure they actually said them.
"Considering I mentally fucked you in four different positions before you so much as laid eyes on me, I'd be inclined to say the answer is yes."
Oh my God. I was quiet for a second.
"And which position did you like best?"

 photo Sarahandjulian_zpsj5hfqak1.gif

I liked all the characters in this, well except the Roth brothers and I really enjoyed Sara's relationship with her best friend Lia, Sara is strong willed and confident and Lia was bubbly, funny and a little ditsy so together they made a great pair.
"It's been five weeks since I've smelled your hair." "Creepy." "Girl, you don't even know how creepy I can get. I've missed you too much!"

Unfortunately both Sara and Julian have 'secrets' from their pasts which is making it harder for them to connect. I felt sorry for Sara as her story was revealed and I fell harder for Julian when I read his story. Well to be fair I fell more and more for Julian as the story went on, until about 80% when I wanted to shake him!!!!!!!

So this was one of those books that just clicked with me and Julian and Sara are up there with my favourite couples. If you are looking for a contemporary romance with a little bit of everything then you should give this one a go.

Stella Rhys is an auto-buy author for me, and somehow I almost completely missed the fact that she was coming out with a new book! Her name is all I needed to sell me, so I didn’t even bother with the blurb. I jumped right into this one and read it from cover to cover. When you are at the point that you read a book based on the author’s name alone, it’s because that name gives you certain expectations. The biggest and most important is that you are going to love whatever they have written. Therefore, it came as no surprise to me when I fell head over heels for this story right away!

Sara has finally had enough and quits the dead end job she’s worked at, June magazine, for the past 9 years. To celebrate, she decides to give herself one night to let loose and enjoy herself before she has the complete and total breakdown she anticipates will occur the next day when the severity of her actions crash down on her. What Sara really hopes for is to find a handsome stranger to take her home and fuck her hard. Luckily, she finds just the guy she is looking for in the elevator on the way to the bar she’s planned on going to.

Julian is a billionaire that lives and breathes his job. He doesn’t spend his time worrying about women when there is more important matters to focus on, but ever since he took the gorgeous brunette from the elevator back to his hotel room, she is all he can think about. They got interrupted at the most inopportune time, and she ran out of the room before they even exchanged names leaving him frustrated in more ways than one.

Living in New York City makes it possible for you to meet someone once and then never run into them for the rest of your life. That simple fact gives him little hope of ever laying eyes on his mystery woman again, but against all the odds, he does! She becomes his employee, and that’s where everything really starts to heat up!

Bad Boss has everything you could want in an office romance and more! It’s forbidden, fun, and deliciously dirty, but it also incredibly well written with depth and emotion that will tug at your heart strings. The characters are complex, the story is captivating, and the sex is scorching hot! Being the perv that we all know I am, I especially love how diversified all of the steamy scenes are. Stella certainly knows how to keep it interesting. I love her for it, and I know you will, too! If you like the romance genre period, I recommend this book to you! Just go one-click this one right now. There is no way you will regret it!

~4.5 SMOKING HOT STARS~
"She was my sense of home."
description

Bad Boss is a delicious forbidden office romance full of passion and a lot of heart! Julian Hoult is simply irresistible!

description
"I had a gorgeous prick of a boss who talked dirty to me one second and shunned me the next."
Sara is a hard working professional just trying to stay above water. After nine years of suffering in her place of employment, she quits and seeks out a one night stand to get her mind off of her troubles. When she meets sex GOD Julian Hoult in an elevator, an instant physical connection is ignited. Sara and Julian are interrupted before the deed is done and both are left unsatisfied.

description
"All I knew for sure was that my cheek and breasts were pressed against his desk, and his tongue was sliding so deep in my pussy I could hardly fathom his skill."
Days later Sara is with her friend Lia. Sara is hopeful a night on the town will help get her mind off of the infamous elevator escapade. But when Lia attempts to set Sara up with a friend, Sara is shocked to find Julian (the one and only) is Lia's friend. Julian is currently in a bind with a huge business deal he is trying to close. When he observes Sara has an effect on the man he is hoping to close the deal with; he instantly hires her to be his personal assistant to seduce the deal to a close. Now that Julian and Sara are in close quarters the physical attraction grows to epic proportions. As the two get to know one another, they discover how much they have in common and have a hard time keeping their hands off of each other. But is it possible for Julian to close the deal and keep the girl?

description
"Do whatever it takes to lift even the slightest weight off her shoulders, and keep that beautiful smile on her face."
Told in dual POV, Bad Boss is a sexy forbidden romance with a twist. The plot is complex, and the relationship between Sara and Julian is authentic and flows naturally throughout the read. Julian is a dominant alpha male who cares deeply for the ones he loves. Sara is spunky and strong, and despite the demons of her past, she finds strength and hope in the arms of Julian Hoult. The supporting characters greatly enhance the plot as their family and close circle of friends are actively involved in getting these two together! I was especially excited to see more of Lukas and Lia from Sweet Spot together and happy. Another stand out character is Julian's brother Emmett. No doubt, his story is coming, and it is going to be EPIC!

description

Overall, I highly recommend Bad Boss to anyone who enjoys a forbidden office romance with plenty of passion. I have found Ms. Rhys' characters to be endearing and realistic and Bad Boss is another perfect blend of romance and smoking hot steam!

Unpopular opinion. While this book was very steamy and well written there were some areas that didn’t really appeal to my specific preferences.

First of all Sara: she’s flawed but she’s sweet and has these random shows of strength and sassy that I like. She’s a great match for Julian.

On the other hand, she has an experience in her past that she obviously never learned from because history appears to be repeating itself, even if to a smaller degree. She lets her attraction guide her decisions and even her profession to an extent. Some might disagree... but remember later in the book when she says why she took the job? She’s also so eager to please and make others like her, often to her own detriment. However, I really like that the explanation for her past doesn’t really fit into a box. It was equal parts others as it was herself and naïveté.

Julian: He was sexy, supportive, understanding. The whole package when they were spending personal time together. However, when they were doing business, I didn’t like him. He was using Sara and it didn’t sit well. I liked that he didn’t seem to be ok with it either. Definitely a credit to his character and a good device to show growth. Towards the end, he really lost me with how he handled the conflict and the resolution felt anticlimactic.

The writing was solid. Great pacing, prose, and imagery. As I mentioned before, these are simply aspects of the book that just didn’t work for me personally. Others seemed to have greatly enjoyed this book. In general, I don’t regret having read it. I will very likely read the next in the series as I really did enjoy the first a lot.

Safety: No others for either. There’s this unique combo of emotional/sexual abuse with no rape that if you need more info on before reading you can PM me with questions.

I don’t know why I even tried to read this book. I should have paid more attention to the blurb. It was just past midnight and I was disappointed with the book in my hand and I just had this book for a while, so I said, why not?

***********************************************

The plot:

Sara quits her job and she feels devastated. She needs a high. That’s why she decides to have a one-night stand to forget about her problems at least for a night.

Her one-night stand starts as passionately as she needs but then, it is interrupted by something and she runs away.

Neither Sara, nor Julian can forget about that interrupted night but they do not even know each other’s names.

***********************************************

Then, she meets him again at an auction. Her friend Lia takes her to that auction to introduce her to her boyfriend’s friend, who turns out to be Sara’s one-night stand.

***********************************************

When they found each other again, I thought they would start dating or something like that but to my surprise, Julian decides to use her for his business gains.

Seeing how the guys he wanted to do business with are enamored with her, he makes up a lie and says that she is his assistant.

Then he goes and talks to Sara, saying he wants to hire her for 3 months and he will pay her good. He explains that he wants her to play the role of bait. While her official title will be his Executive Assistant, her actual job will be wearing sexy clothes and flaunting everything she’s got until Julian’s clients are easy to bend and make a deal with him.

"I’d like to hire you for a very short and specific job. To be safe, we can make it a three-month contract, and I’ll pay however much your last employer offered for a full year.”
“ What? Wait. I don’t understand – what kind of job is this?”
“You’d be posing as my assistant, and by Tuesday, I’d need you to have memorized a full report on a twenty-million-dollar renovation to a resort in Biarritz, France that I’m looking to sell to Turner and Carter Roth. I’ll also be needing you to present this information to them in a rather specific way.”
“How is that?”
“I need you seduce them.”
“ Excuse me?”
“By seduce, I don’t at all mean sleep with them.”
“Thank God for that, but then what do you mean? Because I think I need a very thorough explanation”
“Your job is to be professional while also dressing provocatively and flirting enough to maintain their interest. All I need is for them to listen long enough to connect me with their business advisors, with whom I’ll actually have productive meetings. So realistically, the hardest part of your job could be done within just a few meetings.”
I stared. I couldn’t quite believe what I was hearing. But presuming I’d just understood correctly, I was curious, and… thrilled, even? I wet my lips. “Okay, so… correct me if I’m wrong, but you’re saying you want me to string these guys along with my sexual allure, and force them to pay attention to your pitch in the process?”
“Yes."

When he proposes this offer, I expected Sara to refuse it and speak to him in a way he deserved but as she is attracted to him, she sees it as an opportunity to be with him and says yes to this demeaning offer.

***********************************************

Sara plays her role very well and very enthusiastically, also trying to seduce Julian at the same time. Julian tries to keep things professional with her while she works in the company as his assistant but he can resist her for 3 days only.

***********************************************

Then, this perverted affair between them begins. They start having sex but they hide it from other people.

Julian watches her trying to seduce these guys with her sexy as hell body. It is showing but not giving, but still, it was so disturbing for me to read about it.

Julian listens to those two guys talking in a demeaning way about her and expressing how much they want to f*ck her. He watches them eye-f*ck her, he watches them touch her body here and there. He even lets them organize a pool event, where one of them tries to teach Sara how to surf in the pool, where the aim is, in fact, to watch her in her bikinis and touch her body.

And Julian gets jealous… huh, jealous my as*!

“You look good in this swimsuit,” Turner murmured as I lay on my stomach. His eyes were on my breasts pressed up against the board. He brought my hands out from under my chin, wrapping his hand lightly around my arm as he brought it into the water.

Julian’s stare burned into me from the surface of the pool as Turner then murmured close to my ear. “Riding isn’t the hard part,” he said, his blonde hair dark now that it was wet. “Paddling out then popping up – that’s half the battle.” I attempted the paddling on my stomach. I gave an earnest try at popping up on the board. I did okay, but I wasn’t really paying attention to myself. Despite engaging with Turner, it felt like my attention had never truly left Julian since leaving the locker room. His had certainly not left me.

I hardly processed Turner’s hand touching the back of my thighs as he reached across my body. Gripping the edges of the board, he showed me how to sink its pointed tip into the water – to swim under the “waves” we pretended were there. I even a mustered a laugh for him after I tried my first one and got way too much water in my eyes.

Outwardly, I looked like I was enjoying Turner’s lesson. But in reality, I was so far from being there with him it was crazy. I was still locked in sync with Julian. I didn’t know how, considering I was in the water and he was dry on the ground, but we’d just spent the past ten minutes in silent conversation. I knew what he was saying. He’d said it to me before. I’ve got you . Turner had his hands on my shoulders, my arms, my back. But Julian had his eye on me, his instincts sharpened and primed for the second Turner crossed the line.

Well, how chivalrous of him! Imagine you have a lover who watches other people touch you and waits for them to cross the line to save you.

Yayyyy, every girl needs such a hero, don't they?

***********************************************

Julian lets this charade continue until one of those guys tells him they will only say yes to this deal if he gives her assistant to him for a weekend. He says that Julian should tell her she will lose her job if she doesn’t sleep with him. He wants to have her for a few days and talks about it as if he wants Julian to lend him his car for a few days.

That’s when Julian says “No”, finally.

***********************************************

The heroine’s past also had a very unbelieavable story of bullying. I just didn’t want to believe that people would do this to her and she would let it. It was just too much – too over the top!

***********************************************

This has been such a distasteful reading experience for me that I don't think I will ever read from this author again.

Book 1 in this series was something I couldn't go on reading at all because the heroine was involved in too many humiliating situations even at the very beginning of the book.

Now I understand that this writer has a tendency to put her heroines in humiliating situations. Why does she do that? Is she the enemy of her own kind? Well, I don't know. What I know is that this is something I don't want to be exposed to again...

I wish Ms Rhys would never write such heroines again and try to create some sassy and strong characters with some self respect.

I think the song, Uff, fits nicely to Sara and Julian’s story! As always, here is the translation for anyone interested. Enjoy!

Review
Sara Hanna is a workaholic who immerses herself in work to escape her past. So after quitting her job that she had for few years and suffering from mediocre sex to focus on her job, she is still riding on that adrenaline when she meets the aloof and enigmatic billionaire extraordinaire, Julian Hoult. Their first meeting is in an elevator while Sara is on her way to meet Lia, her best friend and the fiery chocolate maker from the previous book Sweet Spot, on the night of Sara quitting her job.

“I think you missed your floor,” he said.
God, six words had never sounded so suggestive. At least not until mine.
“I guess I’ll go to yours.”

Julian overhears Sara’s conversation with Lia on the phone regarding exactly what kind of company she is looking for the night as he was waiting for the elevator behind Sara unbeknownst to her. What ensues is fiery hot chemistry in the elevator that increases every time they are in the vicinity of each other. Due to some turn of events, Sara starts working for Julian and he only has one rules for his employees and that is zero tolerance of fraternizing between employees. What follows is a special kind of torture for both due to the chemistry between them.

She was my sense of home. My sense of family. She was everything I had tried to work for and pushed myself to find when I was younger. I wish I could have told myself then to save myself the pain – that if I could just wait long enough, the answer to every one of my dreams would come in the form of a girl named Sara.

I really enjoyed the push and pull between them. It had some angst, but not OTT. It was entertaining to see them try to outdo each other in professionalism by ignoring their strong attraction to each other and, ultimately, failing at it. What a delicious failure! Julian and Sara were really compatible because they understood each other’s dedication to working and how it was related to their pasts. This book was 'almost' a perfect blend of charged intimate scenes and quotable sweet moments.

I lived for just the way he just looked at me – for the way he kissed me in the morning when I woke, and the way he said “I love you” as I drifted off to sleep every night. He was both my fantasy and my reality, my actual dream come true.

'Almost' because I felt the book drag a bit in the middle. I skimmed some parts in the middle of the book because it wouldn’t hold my attention and I wasn’t feeling connected to the book as I did in the beginning and end. Overall, I enjoyed Julian and Sara’s quest from insta-lust to the forever kind of love. Some of you may know that I’m not a huge fan of insta anything, but Stella Rhys is convincing me that, if written right, it can work out! Looking forward to the next book!

Well hot damn!!! I didn't know what to expect when I went into this story, but what I got, I want more of!!!! I enjoyed this story, couldn't read fast enough. And why the heck haven't I read this amazing author before now!!

I've read a lot of millionaire/billionaires but Julian Hoult, man is he in another league. He didn't carry that stuck up air about him that others have, he seemed to be not only be gorgeously handsome he was seemingly out of this ball park. His downfall, his company came first, over everything else.

Sara Hanna has been through a lot in her 27 years. However the way she carries herself, you'd never know, until she gets put into a position trying to sell herself, in a sense, for her newly acquired employer. She is such a likable, lovable character for me. She is strong, she is beautiful, she just wants to simply be happy. She takes a impromptu job and gets way more than she bargains for, including a love like no other. Or atleast she thought she did. Sometimes things aren't everything they seem.

I liked this story, it wasn't at all how I thought it was going to be! I am happy I picked this up and I throughly enjoyed this book by a new author for me!!💕

Bad Boss is super steamy! Like...super steamy folks. The sex scenes are abundant and off the charts hot! Like panty melting, body scorching, hot as hell, type of steamy. I’m talking sex anywhere and anytime people! Julian and Sara are DTF anywhere and ERRRRYYYWHERE! If you’re looking for a sweet, hand-holding, quick peck on the lip kind of romance, keep it moving. This is more like THE HUBSTER’S GETTING SOME TONIGHT kind of hot.

Okay, now that we’ve covered the highlights let’s do the breakdown: Sarah is overworked and under-appreciated in her current job. On a whim, she quits and decides to have a weekend of fun before shifting back to uber-professional mode. While waiting on an elevator and discussing exactly how wild and free she plans to get, she notices a handsome stranger behind her. Needless to say, he overheard everything and takes her up on her offer of a one night stand. They’re interrupted in the middle of the “festivities” and she leaves quickly. He can’t stop thinking of him and she can’t stop talking about him. Luckily, they run into each other again very soon. A scheme is hatched, plans are made, but the situation ends up pushing the together more than they considered.

What I enjoyed: See 1st paragraph re: Smoking Hot Sex ERRRRYYYYWHERE! LOL
Don’t get sidetracked by the steamy bits though. The story is fun and flirty, yet it’s also emotional at times. These two characters have the most unexpected backstories I’ve read in a while. I enjoyed getting to know them and watching them heal from the scars of their past.
The true win for me was the ending. I was a very happy camper at the end.

Overall, a very good read from Stella Rhys! Grab your copy while I go cool down. Enjoy!

This was probably more like a 3+ star read for me, but damn... it was steamy! And, me likey some steamy!

description

I adored the H, Julian, right up until the 85% mark of the Kindle book. Then, I was pissed, and hurt (yep, I actually felt the sting). But, never fear... this is a love story with an HEA and all will be righted.

**Also note that this book is listed as book #2 in the "Irresistible" series... however, when I went looking for book #1, I couldn't find it.

description

Turns out book #1 is Sweet Spot, though it's not actually listed as part of this "Irresistible" series. You do not need to read these books in order. They can be read as standalones. Though the MC's story from Sweet Spot continues on into this book and you might like to have some background on them, it's not absolutely essential.

Overall Opinion: This was better than I thought it'd be! It was super hot with some depth in the characterizations. I was not expecting to feel as much as I did for these characters! So all that was a super pleasant surprise.

I hate myself for sounding like a broken record, but the ending killed me!! Why, oh why, can't we get some good closure?! Why the abrupt endings with the conflict being present late, resolved hastily and/or not fully (like in this case ), and then bam! an epilogue?! Future or current authors out there: PLEASE STOP THIS STYLE OF WRITING! It doesn't leave me with the happy smile on my face when I end the book, but rather a frustrated scowl in its place. I don't feel confident that they'll get a HEA, especially when paired with a lackluster epilogue . It all just makes me want to get all ranty like this! I apologize for being ranty, and I'm sure many will love this book (and I really did like most of it) regardless of my rants -- I just am so frustrated with spending the time reading books and not getting that feeling of contentment at the end 😒

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Sara and Julian's story. Sara just made some big changes in her life and decides for once she is going to let loose and have a ONS. She bumps into Julian and they get hot and heavy until they are unexpectedly interrupted. They meet again, and Julian ends up offering her a job in helping him close a big deal for personal and professional reasons. She accepts, but then soon realizes that Julian has a self imposed rule to not have relationships with his employees. Not so later, they can no longer deny the strong attraction they feel towards one another and give in and start an affair. The more time they spend together, the more they start to develop stronger feelings. There is some hot sexy times, some big secrets revealed, and some sweet times...and they get a HFN ending.

POV: This alternated between Sara and Julian's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good until the end. I never skimmed and I thought it flowed well otherwise.

Instalove: No, they take a while to develop stronger feelings. Instalust? Yes!!

H rating: 3.5 stars. Julian. I liked him for the most part, but there were some things that he left me confused about too...

h rating: 4 stars. Sara. I liked her. She was intelligent, driven, sweet, and not afraid to be sexy.

Sadness level: Low/moderate. I teared up, but no tissues were needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Hot. They have some hot tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: Yes

OW/OM drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This had ok closure with what I would call a HFN ending , but some might be fine in calling it a HEA. The ending did feel rather abrupt to me though, as the conflict was resolved then we get an epilogue. I would've much preferred some time in between as well as a farther glimpse into their future -- but, again, it's me being picky!

How I got it: It was part of my kindle unlimited subscription.

Safety: This one should be Safe for most safety gang readers

Release Date: July 14, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance
POV: Dual - 1st person
Heat: 3.5 out of 5
Type: Standalone - Book 2 of the Irresistible series w/ character crossover

Bad Boss is about Julian and Sara. They’re the best friends of Lukas and Lia from Sweet Spot. They’ve never really met and during an event, they can’t keep their hands off each other which leads to them having an almost one-night stand. Figuring they’ll never see each other again, they are both surprised to realize that their meeting was inevitable.

Julian is very no-nonsense. A self-made billionaire, he doesn’t do relationships because he’s too busy overseeing his empire. But he can’t keep his eyes or his mind off of Sara. Neither can his potential clients. Sara’s just been fired/quit from the only job she’s ever had and for the first time is at a loss with what to do with herself. Knowing that she could help smooth things over with his potential clients with a bit of flirting and some light sexual harassment, Julian offers her a job as his personal assistant until he can negotiate a deal. She agrees because she wants more of Julian but then he tells her that he has a strict no-fraternization policy. Bummer. Too bad he’s having trouble adhering to his own rules.

Once again, Stella Rhys treated us to a painful truth about her hero. The trials Julian went through only made him a better character to read and, in a strange way, humanized him. There was a lot of intense back-and-forth between these characters and their chemistry was off-the-charts hot. When it finally came to the climax of the story, although it was a tad predictable, it was nevertheless very entertaining.

I’m hoping there will be a third book added to this series because I’d love to see the easy-going, happy-go-lucky Emmett finally meets his match. I’ve gotta say, this author has found a way to make her heroes truly irresistible.

5 “ Julian & Sara “ stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My heat seized as I turned around to see the world’s most stunning fucking force of a man stride in behind me, wearing a ridiculously expensive-looking suit, an incredibly crisp white shirt, and just enough of a smirk on that perfect mouth to let me know that he’d heard.
Everything.

Another amazing read in this series. Julian and Sara’s story was everything I expected it to be and so much more. I am starting to like this author more and more. This wasn’t just simply boss and assistant romance, there was a different twist to it and much more complex characters. And of course the sexy times in an office, the hiding, the taboo feel. It all worked pretty well.

” I think you missed your floor,” he said.
God, six words had never sounded so suggestive.
At least not until mine.
“I guess I’ll go to yours.”

We met Julian in the previous book, he was Lukas’s best friend. He’s a billionaire, handsome, intense, intimidating and somewhat of a mystery. Author definitely left us intrigued by him in the previous book. I eagerly wanted to watch him find his match and fall in love, learn what his story is and see beneath his layers. After learning his secrets, I fell more in love with him. I loved how he protected and cared for Sara and was soft towards her. He was the perfect boyfriend.

Sara is Lia’s best friend. She is funny, sweet, caring, workaholic and beautiful. After working very hard for a company that didn’t appreciate her, she quits. It leads to her Julian who gives her a offer that she can’t refuse. She’s all about making new choices and not letting her fears come in her way. What’s funny is she doesn’t realise that this is the Julian who’s friends with lukas. I loved the new her. It was funny how she brought out the emotions in Julian and was his equal.

She was my sense of home. My sense of family. She was everything I had tried to work for and pushed myself to find when I was younger. I wish I could have told myself then to save myself the pain - that if I could just wait long enough, the answer to every one of my dreams would come in the form of a girl named Sara.

What made them perfect for each other was that they were really very similar to each other. They had a lot in common. My heart broke for both of them after learning what happened to them in their past and how it affected them. Their struggle was real. Throughout the book, I could feel Julian getting soft towards her more and more. Their chemistry was intense and off the charts. The sex scenes were way hotter than the last book. The drama was just the right amount.

Can’t wait to dive into the next book. Pretty sure Emmett is going to be amazing too. He’s just as mysterious. This book exceeded all my expectations.

Highly recommended. ♥️

If a guy I was attracted to asked that I dress provocatively and be subjected to lewd comments all because he wanted to land a business deal, I would tell him to fuck off and keep fucking off all the way to hell.

Aside from his “gorgeousness”, Julian was too pathetic a person and I low-key hated him. Sara wasn’t any better.

It’s decided: After book four, my new favorite couple in this series are Julian and Sara. I loved candid, no-nonsense Julian and his dry humor and I actually did from the start, long before his past was revealed (unlike Iain); Sara was just as impressive: strong, determined, sassy and a great match for Julian. And Rhys’s talent at writing sardonic, humorous verbal exchanges as well as introspective observations highlight our couple’s characters perfectly. (As an added thought, I liked Lia a lot better now than I did in her designated book Sweet Spot.)

After having now read four books of this series (out of order: Reckless #6 first, then Now or Never #5, then Sweet Spot #1, now Bad Boss #2), I can confirm that the plot mostly follows the same pattern as observed in my review of Sweet Spot (minor adjustment in 2.).

1. characters instantly have the hots for one another (#irresistible)
2. the heroine’s and hero’s tragic, heart-breaking pasts are revealed
3. job complications that impact the relationship, followed by a mandatory but thankfully brief separation
4. reunion; proposal/marriage (pregnancy)

Though the plot does seem a bit formulaic at this point – maybe because I’ve read these four books more or less back to back – I don’t mind that at all. Still, I didn’t quite like the plot here. Julian’s and Sara’s past both seemed a bit … contrived? Too dramatic? I still can’t quite pinpoint why I didn’t experience the same heartbreak as I did with, say, Adam or Iain. Don’t get me wrong, their respective pasts are equally as disturbing, but they just didn’t affect me as much.

On a positive note, as opposed to how it was done in Now or Never, the mandatory separation was well executed and actually fitting here. It felt organic within the framework of the narrative; something I’d never thought I’d say, since that 80%-obligatory complication/separation in romance usually bothers the heck out of me – because it is often just done to stick to that formula and for the sake of making something happen.

Oh, and the sex was steamy as ever (18+) and they start getting it on pretty early so there is lots of it throughout the book. Just a side note: Is anyone else as conflicted about public restroom sex as I am? I just can’t get over the fact that the location is disgusting, especially when you have a private room in that same building??

Loose ends (there tend to be some in every book): What about the pervy Roth brothers? I would have liked to see them get their comeuppance! And what about selling the resort in Biarritz? It's just not important anymore?

Other books in the Irresistible series, click link for my review:
1. Sweet Spot ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2
2. Bad Boss ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
3. Dirty Deeds TBD
4. Hothead TBD
5. Now or Never ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
6. Reckless ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

I am really looking forward to book #4 and Julian's brother Emmett! He was hilarious in his appearance in this one.

*********************************************

Here is an excerpt to highlight Julian's and Emmett's character as well as Rhys's writing. Emmett has caught Julian sending a text to someone he disapproves of. I'm omitting some of the narrative voice. Enjoy!

"You have got to be shitting me," . . .
"Mind your own business, Emmett."
"How the fuck is this not my business?" he asked, losing all humor in his voice. "I thought you were putting an official end to that chapter in your life."
"Trust me, I am. Do you not see me trying to sell that resort?"
Emmett . . . shook his head and sneered. "You know, it's fucking crazy. You're a hard-ass ninety-nine-point-nine percent of the time, and then the other one percent - "
"Your math is off."
"Shut up. Listen to me . . . you need to cut that crazy person off, I fucking mean it." . . .
"Move past it," I simply said.
"How much money are you sending this time?"
"I said move past it."
Emmett blew out a sharp breath of air, but after rubbing his entire face several times, he inhaled, exhaled, and he was done.
I always regarded that like a fucking magic trick every time. How he managed to move on from things so quickly was beyond me, but I envied him for it.

*********************************************

2nd re-read via the audiobook: decent voice actors, though Julian's arrogance was a little overdone and thus borderline annoying.

*********************************************

If you want to know whether there is OW/OM drama, continue reading. If not, you'd better stop here.

No, though there is some false build-up though. The OW is in Julian's past.

I LOVE this author. I love her stories, i love her writing and i love, love, love her characters. Her books are my automatic one-click because i know i will read her books with the best butterflies in my tummy.

Her heroines are strong-willed, ambitious, kind, smart, sassy, independant and are never doormats. Just like Sara in this book. She fights for what she wants and is truthful about her feelings.

Despite a small glitch in her past, Sara works her ass off through life, only to accidentally bump into Julian Hoult on her "off" day. Her life then changes in the best way possible. He offers her a job to seal a business deal, quickly realising using Sara was the worst possible idea. They give into their attraction and feelings easily but Julian is a rigid businessman after all. He ends up making a decision that breaks Sara's heart.

I absolutely adored Julian. He was everything Sara needed despite being broody and a stickler for rules. And boy, he was kinky and sexy as hell! They steamed up my kindle very often and despite the scenes being super steamy, i could still feel the tender, loving moments between these two.

A definite recommendation if you're after a feel good romance. I definitely was after the book slump i've had ❤

*spoilers ahead, read at your own discretion*

I definitely enjoyed the first 1/3 of this book. Sara has quit her job, and is looking for some no-holds-barred sex. Julian - gorgeous billionaire magnate - happens to overhear her confession, and the two nearly sleep together before his brother barges in and she disappears.

Until a week later.

“I couldn’t believe it. It was him – my nameless hook-up from that filthy, unforgettable night at the hotel. [..]
Their eyes were all on him.
And he was staring directly at me.”

I've always loved scenes like that. Any book, any time, those scenes always get to me. He hires her for her sex appeal as two clients he hopes to forge a deal with take an interest in the dark haired bombshell. She accepts because of his magnetism. Both of them seemed interesting at that point. He had the "no office relationships" clause (that he would obviously break), and their chemistry seemed heated, sneaking in moments of indulgence.

However it took a serious nose dive for me from there on out. Initial attraction became monotonous, sex scenes boring, the book felt long. I'd say she was more of the pursuer than he was. He was just a very bland workaholic, and the intrigue was misplaced. Really I thought he allowed her to be subjected her to lewd comments and dangerous behaviour from his clients for too long as her boss.

Yes, she meets an inconsequential OW of the past, and finds out he had a massively failed relationship, had a daughter who didn't biologically belong to him, fell out with his family for years, feels responsible for his father's death but... again it's all the heavy. I just didn't feel like we had the light and laughter, where he was passionate about her (not in lust), romantic, or protective, or funny. She was both; she could make him laugh and confide in him.

"I knew his name. I knew what he did for a living. I knew that he made me [..] feel. But beyond that, I knew nothing.”

Sure he was a nice guy. But there wasn't much beyond the initial allure.

"He wasn’t just cold, hard and efficient. He was a million layers of complexities that made my heart actually ache for him more."

E as cenas hot??? Julian... 🔥🔥🔥🔥

And with this book, I think I'm disillusioned of Stella Rhys.
I am sorry, but it appears I have SOME moral standards and it seems using a woman's "sexual allures" to string your clients along apparently falls way beneath those standards.
And the fact that he may or may not have romantic interest in her actually makes it worse for me. It's actually almost like whoring your spouse out for your benefit.
I don't care about the ending. I don't want to know how they resolve this. Don't care whether they find there HEA or a measly HFN.
I'm quitting at 11%

'Bad Boss' by Stella Rhys is the story of Julian and Sara.
Sara was having the worst day ever. Sara had finally given up on a job that she has been working at since she was 19 years old where she was chasing a nonexistent promotion. Sara feels nine years at that job was enough so she walked out. Knowing that she would live to regret it tomorrow she felt that she should take the next 10 hours to be free and given in to a care free attitude until the guilt came in. While on the way to meet her best friend she meets Julian in the elevator. Julian overhears her talk of getting a one night stand and having mind-blowing sex. Julian tells her that he been imagining them together since he seen her.
Their encounter was ended suddenly but weeks later they meet again. This time Julian is asking for Sara's help.
I enjoyed reading Julian and Sara's story.

Just as miss Rhys promise, this book is filthy. Steamy filthy. And i love the all the boardroom, restroom and other public places miss Rhys putting the steamy sex. Dirty and naughty!

The slight problem is... sara. She is confusing. Very confusing. She is suppose to be a independent woman. But she ends up needy. Where is that fearless woman? I feel that fearless woman becomes disappear mid book.

And at the end when julian shows up to win sara, where is the groveling?
Nevertheless i enjoy this book.

I hate the way this author writes other female characters that are not the heroine or her immediate friends. For a series that is trying to be feminist, it’s surprisingly or not so surprisingly has a shit ton of internalized misogyny.

First, the heroine is entirely too perfect. What is with this author and her obsession with making every single one of her main characters drop dead gorgeous or sexy? The heroine is for some reason, constantly noted everywhere as the top 1%, and this overwhelmingly, sexy woman. The way she acted with Julian during the first part of the book did not endear me to her. She’s insecure about her prostitution past yet and the name of horniness, she acts like a fucking slut.

The hero, Julian, is an A Grade asshole. He was shady in the first book, and he hates Lia, the heroine in the first book, for no apparent reason. He tried to utilize Sarah as his skank for his business deals, but then goes all shocked Pikachu face , when people treat her like a skank.

Do you not get me started on the ending and the bullshit third act break up and how it was so easily resolved because our heroine here is a doormat.

In the beginning, I felt like there were scenes missing especially in the elevator and at times, felt it was rushed. But overall, loved it!

so much wrong with this book. I wish I had not finished it. = 1 star

I read the first book and while I didn't completely enjoy it there were parts I quite liked and it did get better as it went along. I particularly liked Sara and so when I saw the next book was her and Julian I decided to download it. Sadly this one took the opposite trajectory. Starting out okay but ending in a screech of WTF and why did I bother commentary in my head. What little I liked in the last book was totally absent. Sara and Lia seemed completely different. It was like a different person wrote this one.

So first off the premise. I knew it was pretty sketchy and I knew going in so I won't hold that against the book. But how we get to the point where he is hiring her to be dangled in front of two revolting young men he wants to do business with makes no sense. If you write a character as a super skilled business man then he better be that. And telling your clients a lie that you very likely won't be able to get out of is not talented at all. A four year old is smarter than this.

Before I rant about the idiocy let me talk about the ending. There was bunches of drama and our couple was apart. Neither happy and neither talking to each other. But then suddenly they are together and the thing that was keeping them apart is not mentioned again. I actually had to go back and read it again because it was super quick, lacked any consistency with the rest of the story, and was super boring. I figure if you slog through the whole darn thing you should at least get a decent ending. This book failed that very minor test.

So this book had a skeevy storyline, was pretty boring, and then ended with a nonsensical whimper. If that was all I would likely give it two stars and move on. But it actually was so much worse. Because by the end I was convinced that the author is not very smart and lacks in basic morals.

Not very smart: She clearly needed to do some very basic research on legal matters about parental rights and inheritance. Two important plot devices were based on these and it was mind boggling how far off the mark it all was. A wealthy businessman with a deeply loved wife, 3 children and multiple grandchildren would have a will that protected them. Failing having a will his wife would get it. Having one son die the day before him would not mean his other two children got everything. It is simply not how competent lawyers write wills. There would have to be special reasons but nothing is written about any reason other than the son's earlier death.

Less clear cut but equally ridiculous was the bit about the child. He was with the mother and thought the child was his for 4 years. He was living in Sweden. He would have been on the birth registration as the father. The mother then runs off. No mention is made of any court case just that she left for another part of Europe. He is a billionaire who loves his child and does not care that she is not biologically his. He would be both legally and emotionally the father and would have a lot of rights plus the clout to enforce those rights. Instead he builds a mansion big enough to be a hotel in Biarritz and hopes the mother comes back to him just so he can be with the kid. Huh??? Literally makes no sense. The cost of land in Biarritz alone would be enough to win the court case and would have taken less time and money than the building of the super mansion. His lack of biological fatherhood would not be enough to exclude him 100% from a child he was legally the father of and who the child loved and thought of as her father. You can't even argue the mother had enough money to fight him as it is made clear that he still provides money and that the mother harrasses him for more.

lack of morals: I am okay with characters lacking morals. But when authors try to pass these failings off as acceptable I get cranky. And in this case she even had Lia commending Julius for being a shitty father. There is no indication that anyone thinks what he is doing is questionable or that his reasoning is flawed. Children don't just get over missing parents. If the child still writes him then she still knows of him. So she has stopped telling him she misses him. So what?! She is a child. Probably a hurt child who does not understand why her father doesn't visit her. Yes it is hard to be a child in the middle of an acrimonious legal battle. But again the mother wants money from him. He is happy to spend it and has scads. He could get regular visits and it would be better for this kid than thinking he doesn't want to see her. By the time this came out in the book it was nearly over but I knew in that instant I would =never read another book by this woman.

1.5 stars. What a totally craptastic ending to a book. I got so effing angry at the last 10% of the book that it ruined absolutely anything that I even mildly liked about it. Not that there was too much to like, because all of the convoluted back stories of the MCs made me wonder what the hell the author was thinking.

SO JUST A FAIR WARNING - DON'T READ THIS IF YOU DON'T WANNA READ A HUGE BITCH FEST.

1. This is the fourth book I've read by this author and while the first one was good (Hothead), each seemed to get progressively worse. And this is the worst of them all, IMO. Can I just ask what's up with this author and writing heroes who quickly resort to violence to solve their problems? It's a little overkill reading about all the fights and beatings they are giving others.

2. The heroine of this story was badly bullied in HS, and went to college where other girls made her into an almost prostitute...and it was implied that she had given out sexual favors when asked by her sorority sisters. All this backstory just to explain why she stayed at her job for a long time even though she wanted to leave. JESUS. Why are women always mistreated and end up worse for the wear? Meanwhile, the hero ends up a billionaire. YEP, no double standards here at all. 🙄

3. The hero's story is even more convoluted. But once again, at least he ended up a billionaire, so I don't feel very bad for him. The hero was blamed for his father's death by his entire family. He beat up his cousin (for maybe an ok reason, but violence is not the answer people) and then his father had a heart attack. His own mother blamed the hero... WTF. So hero moves across the sea and starts a new life and new company. He becomes very successful and starts a relationship with one of his employees. His employee gets pregnant while they were on a break from each other, but the hero wants a family so bad that he raises the child as his own. He spends so much time with the child that the child's mother feels slighted by the relationship and takes the child away from him. He builds a resort as a last ditch effort to keep them together as a family, but nope, that doesn't work either. So then the hero is left with no family and is forced to move back to the US. He is later reunited with his mother and brother as if nothing had happened between them and they didn't act like total assholes towards him for years.🤔 All of this backstory just to get to a reason why he needed to desperately sell this resort. LOL. OFC, all this happened years ago...he last saw the child 5 years prior to this story. But the necessity to sell is suddenly so great that he makes up a totally ridiculous reason to hire the heroine as a lure for the buyers he wants. I feel tired just typing all this shit, it's all so long and completely ridiculous. The best part is we don't ever see the child in this story, she's out of his life... WHY IS THIS CRAP EVEN NECESSARY? It literally added nothing to the story besides complicating it. And he tries to sell the resort so he can bascially forget his memories? Nice.

4. Another double standard in sex lives. Heroine is having unfulfilling sex for years... unlike the hero. No surprise there. At least she wasn't celibate...but not far from it.

5. The reason he pushes her away at the end. LOL. I WANTED TO SCREAM. Hero decides to just let her go because the resort deal fell through. The sleazy investor found out about heroine's past and tries to hang the deal on her sleeping with said sleaze. The hero freaks out and beats the guy up. NO WORDS. So then ofc, hero has sex with heroine and tells her he loves her. Next morning he calls her into his office and tells her she's moving to London for a new job with no explanation. I MEAN WHAT THE EVER LOVING FUCK IS THIS???

6. The ending where she's in London living her worst life, miserable without the hero. He is presumed to be sleeping with a new woman each night (and we never get a confirmation either way, which pissed me off). She is finally convinced by her best friend to come back and confront him, and is at the airport when he shows up. And what happens? She runs into his arms and and HE DOESN'T OFFER A SINGLE WORD OF APOLOGY. I think my brain nearly exploded from anger overload here. What a shitty shitty heroine, she's such a tragic pushover.

And here's the thing. I think I could continue to bitch for quite a bit longer. This book was tragically bad, and I just need to stop now.

Safe with exceptions

This book absolutely blew my expectations out of the water, it wasn’t anything like I expected it to be. It was exciting and emotional, with all these little strange and sudden plot twists that kept you guessing and curious—not something that’s overly common in romance books.

I feel as if this is one of those books to just dive blind into, it’s addictive and crazy satisfying.

Sara has been a workaholic for the past nine years for a boss who doesn’t treat her right, but she’s hell-bent on making a name and a career for herself after the mistakes she made as a teenager. But when she ends up quitting her job, she decides to let herself have one night to make up for everything she’s missed.

When she meets the serious(ly hot) Julian Hoult she’s ready for a night of no strings and that’s exactly what’s she expecting to get from Julian. Until she meets him again and agrees to help him trap some business rivals into a deal.

Sara attempts to manoeuvre Julian’s sudden mood swings and her past that has a nasty habit of following her.

This was a seriously hot book, I loved the chemistry between Sara and Julian and the way they interacted. The writing was addictive and extremely easy to lose yourself in, I think I’m becoming a fast fan of Stella Rhys.

Another good audio that made my work day so much better!

Bad Boss is the second installment of the Irresistible Series. It features Julian and Sara. Two people who were suppose to meet each other due to Sara's best friend dating his best friend - yet, it never happened until a random ass hookup on a random ass night. After that one night stand, I guess you can call it that..?? Well, it definitely didn't stay a one night thing. Their feelings grew for each other and even after secrets of their past came out from the dark, they still ended up loving the shit out of each other.

Julian was an interesting guy. One would never know about an ex of his taking advantage of him. Then a child being put in play from that said ex. It definitely sucks that he was a father to a kid that he wasn't 100% sure was actually is.. and to have the mom take the baby away from him just 'cause he loved the kid more than her? Selfish people don't deserve love and I just felt bad for him because of what happened. However, I am happy that he learned to lean on Sara to help him grieve and deal with that whole thing.

Then there's Sara, who honestly had a bit of a mysterious past herself. She was bullied throughout most of her life and her body definitely shows some of those scars. Once her and Julian started to get more serious, even if they weren't willing to admit it.. yet, he definitely grew to love the woman she became. Her past made her stronger and she doesn't let her scars bother her.. that much. Okay, that's a lie.. she still carries the weight from them but with Julian's help that weight seems to be less and less on her shoulders.

I really enjoyed their chemistry. I mean, it was on fire and the smut was also amazing. I don't see why people who sleep together constantly think they wont develop feelings for one another?? Seems odd and stupid because we all know that it will. Other than those two, I'm glad that we got to see Lukas and Lia again in this book. I loved it so much!

Overall, I can't wait to dive into the next audio!! I'm excited to see what Julian's brother Emmett has with his enemy from childhood, Aly. LET'S DO THIS THING!
