I’ve somehow always hesitated to jump into Tracey Alvarez’s Far North/Bounty Bay series, but this is probably because I’m so attached to her Down South crew that I’m probably as possessive of them as Alvarez is. But ‘Mend Your Heart’s blurb sounded heartbreaking from the start and I knew immediately that I wanted Isaac Ngata’s story desperately as much as I wanted my next Down South fix.

The family-like bonds in every series is probably Tracey Alvarez’s forte, as secondary characters float in an
Five years ago Isaac Ngata had the world at his feet, a player for the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team, he and his best friend Jackson Fisher together with the team had just beaten England and were celebrating in London when a terrible accident resulted in Jackson's death and ended Isaac's career. Isaac returned to Bounty Bay and set up a business with his brother Sam.

Five years ago Natalie Fisher lost her husband, All Black's rugby star Jackson Fisher. Olivia Fisher lost her father. He died after a championship game when he was out celebrating with his best friend/teammate Isaac Ngata. A car jumped a curb and tragically took Jackson's life, while injuring another, and leaving Isaac broken and scarred. As if the tragedy wasn't bad enough scandal accompanied it with the young woman along with the two men. Lucy Gilbert was engaged, each of the men were taken; s ...more

As soon as I read the first chapter of Mend Your Heart, the narrative had me giggling along to its tune. I often found myself laughing aloud as my husband looked at me sideways with a questioning brow. Ms. Alvarez writes with an easy style, making her books hard to put down from the first chapter to the last. Mend Your Heart, Book Four in the Bounty Bay series, was no exception. I constantly wonder, when reading books by Ms Alvarez, what sort of mind conjures up such funny and often heartwarming ...more

There are but a few names that I eagerly look forward to every time I open my email... This lady is one of them. I really don't know how she does it but from the first book of hers I read to this current one I fall in live with her writing more and more. What can you call it... Men have bro-mance so it must be sis-mance?

It's so much more than me leaving my cuddle spot with my e-reader in hand and going off to Bounty Bay and being a part of this magical romantic escape as my need for this feeling

This was simply a lovely book about two good people finding their way to each other. The hero, Isaac Ngata, was a national rugby star whose life was forever altered by a car accident that also took the life of Natalie’s husband, another rugby star. Isaac has always been in love with Natalie but never said anything because she was his best friend’s wife. And now she hasn’t wanted anything to do with him for the past five years because of the memories he evokes from her husband’s accident and her ...more

I'm a mad All Blacks fan, so there was no doubt I'd fall in love with Isaac Ngata. A broody hero to start with, he's hiding more than the pain from his damaged leg. He's carrying a secret that will change the world for Natalie, his best mate's widow and also the woman he's developed feelings for. Together they must mend each other's hearts, and it's all Isaac can hope for that Natalie will forgive him for keeping secrets when all he was trying to do was protect her from the truth that would shat ...more

Former rugby star Isaac Ngata is living life judged for his past. A car accident that led to secrets revealed, but not all secrets. Natalie Fisher gets steamed just being around Isaac, his cheating on a girlfriend indirectly led to his injuries but also her losing her husband.

There honestly isn't much I don't absolutely adore about this author and the books she writes. I've greedily read everything she has released, and loved every one of them. Mend Your Heart is definitely no exception, it's Issac and Natalie's story, and it's a rollercoaster so be ready. Issac is Natalie's deceased husbands best friend, both played on the All Blacks Rugby team, until tragedy struck and Jackson was killed in an accident that left both Issac and Natalie devasted. *I was provided a copy of Mend Your Heart by the author in exchange for an honest review. I am not compensated for my honest opinion.*

For the past five years, Isaac Ngata has stayed out of the public’s eye and out of Natalie Fisher’s way. The former All Black rugby star prefers to keep an eye on his best mate’s widow from afar. The accident that took Natalie’s husband and Isaac’s teammate’s life also left Isaac as a celebrity pariah. When he’s aske

How does Tracey Alvarez keep coming up with these incredible, complex, and deeply engrossing stories that grab you from page 1? Mend Your Heart, Bounty Bay Book 4, is so compelling, heart-wrenching, and yes, heart-mending, that I had to read it in one go—then re-read it again immediately. And, yes, Nat and Isaac's story merited all these effusive adjectives and more!

Natalie can't stand to be in the same room as Isaac, her dead husband Jackson's best mate, because she blames him for Jackson's dea

I give Mend Your Heart by Tracey Alvarez five stars. This is book 4 of the Bounty Bay/Far North series. This book can be read as a standalone but because the whole series is so good I would suggest reading the books in order because Characters from previous books show up in this one also. This book is very well written and a very quick read. If you like small town romances you will love this book and series.

Every book this author writes is solid gold. The characters are people I would love to call friends. The locations are gorgeous. The stories allow me to step into communities in New Zealand and make me want to be there. And, I can’t wait for the next book from this author once I put the one I am reading down.

In this book two wonderful people, once friends, eventually find their way to something more than friendship but not easily. Natalie lost her husband, Jackson, five years before the story b

Once again, Tracey Alvarez has written an amazing, in depth book about love lost, true love, and finally, happily ever after. We have two injured souls in this story, each experiencing a different side of an awful truth. Natalie Fisher is the widow of an All Star All Black with a teenaged daughter, Olivia, struggling to move beyond her husband's death after five years. But, since a once close friend of theirs, Issac Nagata, another former All Black, was intricately involved in the accident, she ...more
A sexy and heartfelt second chance at love / hate to love romance

Mend Your Heart is a sexy and heartfelt romance between a former rugby star and his best friend’s widowed wife and now single mother. The book mixes a hate to love theme as it delves into a second chance at love while pulling at your heartstrings with it’s emotional undertones with the issues both have faced as a result of their painful past. While the book, overall, had a great blend of romance and steamy scenes, the tension throu

I'm always excited to hear when Tracey Alvarez is releasing a new novel, and Mend Your Heart easily reminds me why I love to read her work.

Former All Black Isaac Ngata was best mates and teammate to Jackson Fisher, until Jackson's accidental death during a match abroad. Jackson's widow, Natalie has done her best to keep Isaac and rugby out of her life since then. When her daughter decides she wants to play for the girls' rugby team at school, with Isaac filling in as coach, Natalie can't avoid e

This is a very angst-ridden story, more so than the rest of the series I think. Isaac Ngata is a very decent, hardworking and honest man, but he has a big secret lie that has destroyed his life and his reputation for five long years. He had been an All-Black rugby player, but an accident destroyed his career. Natalie Fisher has avoided him ever since, because the accident which injured Isaac killed her husband Jackson, and she blames Isaac for her loss.

While trying to ensure her daughter Olivia

This book is listed as Book 4 in the Bounty Bay series and is a stand-alone novel.

Emotions run deep over loss of a loved one, friendship and blame. Natalie and Isaac keep a safe distance from one another until Natalie’s daughter’s love of rugby brings them in contact with each other whilst he temporarily coaches her school team; and so their journey begins. Their feelings were heartfelt and understandable, full of emotion and angst. Following their journey was touching and humorous. I loved the

This is the 8th book by Tracey Alvarez that I have read and I want to say that it's my favorite of hers, but I don't dare dismiss some of my previous faves. I will say that I can be fairly conservative with my 5-star ratings and many of my favorite books garner, at the most, 4.5 stars. Mend Your Heart was a 5 STAR read for me.

First, I love the book's hero, Isaac! Aside from being a top athlete, he is what I would define as a beta-male, but in all the best ways. I always love a good alp

Natalie Fisher and Isaac Nagta avoid each other at all cost, they can’t be in the same room together for more than five minutes. Back in time, they were friends but everything changed after her husband's tragic death. For five years, driven by grief and guilt they have hidden themselves both from each other and from life itself. Fortunately, life (with some help from Olivia - Natalie's adorable daughter) found its way to bring those two together and let them rediscover not only their friendship ...more

Can it even get better than this – a sexy, wounded, male who puts everyone in front of himself? Tracey Alvarez has done it again – I don’t know how she can have so many unique characters and situations in her head. The addition of a girls’ Under 16 rugby team gives a sweet backdrop to this story. We go back to the Far North and meet some old friends again. Once more, Ms. Alvarez proves her great talent for vivid dialogue that puts you in the same room with the characters, witty banter that makes ...more

Thank you Tracey Alvarez for continuing this series.

I think MEND YOUR HEART is my favorite book of this series. I just fell in love with Isaac. He was a good man doing what he thought was the best thing for his buddy and the family he left behind. Tracey Alvarez has such a wonderful way with words, I felt I was in the story with these people. Yes, they are people to me not characters.
This book brings all the emotions with it because I laughed, cried and yes even got mad a few times. I may have

She's not the one that got away, but the widow of his best mate whom he's always loved in silence. Isaac Ngata honors his late teammate's memory by keeping his distance - and his secrets - from Natalie Fisher, until they are forced together to coach her teenage daughter's rugby team. Smoldering feelings begin to surface but the circumstances of Jackson's death get in the way of everyone's ability to move forward. I love that the relationships among Bounty Bay's close friends and families I've co ...more

Being in love with your deceased best friend's wife and keeping a HUGE secret to spare her any more grief is difficult. I have read a couple of books from this author and every single one makes me love her writing and characters more. This author has a way of telling a story that reaches into your heart and just makes it melt into a puddle. Isaac was there when it happened and knew secrets he wouldn't share. How far will a mother go for her daughter. Natalie will go so far as to become an assistant coach to a man she has harbored hatred for for the last five years. Extended exposure to Isaac, once one of Natalie's best friends, has her feeling a little more than friendly. I cannot tell you how much I love this book and this series! The last book hinted that all was not so clear cut in the accident that killed Natalie’s All Black husband and injured his teammate, Isaac Ngata, and we saw that underneath his gruff exterior, Isaac was a bit of a softie. I absolutely fell in love with him in this book. He’s funny and generous and did I mention hot? This book was so enjoyable. It made me laugh, and smile. I love it when you read the last page of a book and it leaves you with a smile feeling warm and happy.

At the beginning of this book, there was so much tension and anxiety between Isaac and Natalie. Tracey Alvarez was once again able to work her magic and weave a tale that would keep a reader engaged to the very last paragraph.

This is a tale of love, loyalty, friendship and family. No worries, all of the steamy bits are also included. Read

Sweet As

This is a wonderfully sweet and tender romance of two people struggling to stay afloat with grief and anger. Natalie still hates Isaac for the part he played in her husband's death five years ago. Isaac hates himself and mourns the loss of his friend and his career as an All Black.

I love Tracey's books so much because they are filled with good family values, close knit families, and hot as sin Kiwi guys who melt your heart. I'd love to be a part of the family and friends she writes about
