The only thing standing between me and death is my secret.

I’m a Legacy—a secret I’d planned on taking to my grave. Gareth, the enigmatic leader of the Supernatural Guild, knows it, but can I trust him to keep it? When mysterious deaths occur as a result of magic that mimics my own, I no longer have to worry about Gareth exposing me – it will be one o/>The

I want to love this series so much but it's extremely repetitive. I had this problem with the 1st book but towards the end it got better. This book is the same. I understand when books briefly go over what happened in the 1st but every single time "The Cleanse" is mentioned it goes into detail about what happened and who suffered. Every. Single. Time. I'm not sure if it was to fill up space but I found myself skimming a lot. Also, there would be times when Gareth and Levy would be mid conversati ...more
The first half of this book commanded my attention and mirrored it’s predecessor with witty humor, an intriguing storyline, and strong chemistry between characters, however the second half fell flat becoming repetitious in dialogue and quickly resolving conflicts presented in the first half as the primary struggles... It lacked fluidity in the storyline becoming choppy leaving me disinterested in the outcome... A bit of a let down from the first book... 3 Stars:)
One hell of a cliffhanger ending!
The second book in the series takes off where the first one ended. Gareth knows too much, and Levy is feeling something for him, but she's also not really sure what is going on with him. And she kind of wants to keep her distance till she can figure it out. But when she realizes things are getting worse, and legacy is out there trying to destroy the supernaturals, and Gareth is trying to help Levy.

This book wasn't as good as the first one. I was a little frustrated with how this book was simila

3.5 stars. Looked forward to this book, but the constant whining about being a Legacy, being in danger, blah, blah got repetitive. I felt the story dragged and circled around for a lot of the book. I will see this through to the end though.
it was ok.... a bit too racey and more swearing than I like. Also the protagonist keeps going in circles trying to fight someone stronger than her often on her own then being worried about killing him even though he's fully persuaded he wants to wipe out huge parts of the earth's population and force her to marry him...

Also male lead is too domineering for me to want him to end up with the girl, I get it fits his character well and is realistic, but I cringe seeing how he never gives

So good. Action packed. Edge of your seat stuff.

Interesting but jarring pacing

The plot and the characters are interesting but the pacing is jarring. It skips along from fight to fight without much substance inbetween to hold it together.

(3.5 stars) Aside from a bunch of repetitive info, I am really enjoying this series. I'll definitely be continuing on.

Book 2 of the Legacy series picks up right after the first book. This isn't a stand alone book, but the past events are in such detail that you could get away with starting here. For new comers that's good... but for those of us who read the first book then it's annoying. I'd estimate that about 25% of the book was used to describe The Cleanse and it's aftermath. Another 10% percent of the book was about other things that happened in the first book... so it rounds out to about 60% - 65% of this ...more

While I'll freely admit that I am enjoying the Legacy series, I must say that I am disappointed with "Obsidian Magic." This installment was a big tease and did nothing to move the plot along. As a matter of fact, this book is simply the spiraling over and over again of two scenes 1. Livy looking for and confronting Connor ( at least three times) and 2. Livy and Gareth having near misses in moving forward with their attraction towards one another ( at least four times). I found myself looking at ...more

Levy is shocked when Gareth tells her that he knows her secret. She doesn't know what he'll do with the information. The decision to reveal herself as Legacy is suddenly not an issue. It seems someone like her is causing chaos in the supernatural community and she has to spill the beans about being a Legacy if she wants to help.

Levy has to stop Conner from causing another Cleanse, the slaughter of supernaturals. No matter how obsessed Conner is with her, Levy refuses to join his side

The first book was fun.

This book left me frustrated.

First, it needs an editor. There were quite a few typos that made it through.

Second, it’s painfully repetitive. I swear if I hear about the Cleanse again, I will throw my kindle across the room. We don’t need to hear the same history fifty times in a book. We get it.

And Levy’s wildly varying opinions are giving me whiplash. One moment she’s ready to jump his bones, and two seconds later ‘she doesn

Great read. Real page turner, spent the last three days up at night reading this desperate to see what happens. Writing is good, the fight scenes and emotional scenes are done well - you feel like you're there.
Only downside as in the first book more of the series is that certain things get repetitive; its stated every few pages it seems that the main character is a Legacy carrying around their shared bad past and what that entails, what happened, etc. Certain events get written repeate

I see what people mean about the repetitiveness of this plot. Back and forth through Connor, ambush, discussion and proposition, out again, threats, flirting with Gareth. We get something new with Savannah, so at least that's fun - I'm with her and Levy --- let's not trust the shift Harrah. Not much actually happens other than back and forth games and a throw up of hands wondering what hte point is to keep trying since they keep slipping things back out again anyway. How inefficient is this magi ...more

Has some issues

It’s should have been called “Innocuous Magic”. Seriously, kindle says that word was used at least ten times. You wouldn’t think ten times is too many for a novel, but I promise that it is in this case.

Just because you have an arsenal of neato words at your disposal doesn’t mean you should use them. is unnecessary. It’s ok to use “simple” words sometimes. Not all readers have that kind of vocabulary and it can still be distracting even if they do.

I thought that book one was better, there were a few things in this book that started annoying me. The woe is me I'm a Legacy really got to me after a while, it seems out of character. I would also like the author to stop re-explaining the cleanse every time it's mentioned, seriously we either understand by now or we never will!

I'm really enjoying the tension and the unfolding relationship between Levy and Gareth, the romantic and humorous elements were much needed.

On the fence

I really enjoyed the first book of the Legacy series, so much so that I had to buy the second one immediately. I liked seeing Levy and Gareth get closer and getting glimpses into the different types of "supernaturals". As well as seeing the tensions build between Conner and his crew and the rest of them. However, those are all the same things that happened in the second book as well, and by the ending they are back to square one. I didn't really feel like much was accomplished in

This is the second book in the Legacy Series, and I really liked the first one so I was eager to read this when I was granted access to it. This one starts right after the events of the first one, with Levy not knowing what to do with her…friendship…with Gareth after she realizes he knows about her past. Hot on top of that, Conner has let loose some chaos mages to wreak havoc while he continues to “woo” her and work on his plan to Cleanse the world one more time. On top of that, she’s trying kee ...more

Lots sure does happen in this book.

This is a really good second book. My only gripe is that it seemed like one thing went into another without much room for explanation. One second Levy is here doing this the next she is doing something completely different. I had to go back and re-read to see if I just skimmed and missed something. Nope she is just busy busy busy.
I like the continuing relationship with Gareth. There is so many different things going on. People doing things behind the

An excellent series

I was unfamiliar with this author, but the blurb was intriguing, so I thought why not.
Loving this series so far, the heroine is intelligent and snarky. The supporting characters are well rounded and their interactions are consistent throughout.
I finished book 1 and immediately got this book. Having finished this one I have immediately downloaded book 3.
Congratulations on a well written series, with an intriguing storyline, an immersive world and strong mal

Absolutely entrenched in the book....

Gareth knew who she was. How long had he known and what would the consequences be? Olivia didn't know. But things were spiraling out of control. Her roommate Savannah was infatuated with the vampire Lucas. Gareth was the head of the Supernatural Council. He had a duty to report her.

Conner wanted her as his consort. He thought they would be perfect. His magic is very strong and he knows how to use it. Levy must decide if she will come out to the c

The Legacy series is addicting. Levy has hid her powers as a Legacy for so long that she does not have the magic to call as easy as it should. Instead she wields her sais with the same expertise as her sarcasm. I enjoy the unique chemistry between Gareth and Levy as he literally holds the power over her and yet she just cannot help the sarcasm and resistance that seems to be a part of her soul. Taking on her own kind to save the world, earns the girl some massive respect. Full of action and flir ...more

Not As Good As The First Novel In The Legacy Series

Warning: This review may contain spoilers.

Obsidian Magic
's downfall is that it doesn't flow as well as follow up to Double-Sided Magic. The novel feels stagnant in places with scenes or moments seemingly repeated over again which is a shame as there are lots of avenues this book could focus on after the events established in the previous novel. That being said, whilst it isn't the better book of the series it is still a pleasant enough/>Warning:

What a turn of events.

I must say it was or is a constant dolly house fight with Connor and Levy.

I have a feeling that Harrah is apart of Connor's team to do a second Cleanse. I don't know why but I have that feeling.

There are so many twist and turn in this series from who to be trusted or not. I am uncertain about Kalen as well because he was upset with Levy for not telling him her secret.

Boy oh boy it would seem like Levy and Gareth should not get

I liked the first book enough to immediately give the second one a chance.

I was more disappointed in this one. Since the world was clearly established in #1 I expected more of a story in this one.

She trusts Gareth and is attracted to him yet can't get over his near betrayal that she still doesn't have details on. That makes 0 sense to me for someone who has been running her entire life.

The story was still flimsy with a lot of back and forth that was simply going in circl

Levy Michaels is now out of the closet, known to some as being a Legacy. As Levy battles to stop Connor from doing a cleanse, she is still trying to hide what she is. And, others step up to continue to rather the artifacts needed to perform the cleanse. Levy and Gareth grow closer, until the truth comes out as to how Gareth knew her name, Anya Kismet. As attracted as she is to Gareth, she is still trying to protect herself him and those around her. Overall, its a good story. Some of the parts wi ...more

Book 2 picks up right where 1 left off. The characters, chemistry and storyline are a lot of fun what keeps this from a 4 star for me is Leevy's lack of confrontational skills where Garreth is concerned. I get the attraction but if the smirk and being ordered (threats of being arrested) around bothers you enough to have a page of monologue about it then you damn well should give him a punch in the fuzzy nuggets. I would like her to be a stronger character in that regard but otherwise I like her ...more

They're a fun enough easy read. Marked it down as they're not really stand alone novels - more like episodes in a soap opera "tune in next week to find if our heroine lives or dies!!!!" kind of 'not an ending'. I know there are other series that do this - personal preference for me is each book has a beginning, a middle and an END for that story. Seems like a cheap trick (you're really worried the reader won't come back? Not a lot of faith from the publisher/author). Book 1 to 2 was a worse tran ...more
