In my opinion they are both great books, I don't think Bone Music was based on Mr. King's book. Charlotte, in Bone Music is a wonderful character. She took what life threw at her and dealt with it. I like a strong woman character. This book kept my attention from the first page to the end. I will be reading more from Christopher Rice.(less)

"They didn't plan to kill my mother. She wasn't like the other women, the ones they stalked and captured. The ones who came to in a cold root cellar miles from where they'd been abducted, hog-tied and disoriented, their faces pressed to the dirt floor."

What an opening, right? After a long and fruitless reading slump, I was beginning to think that maybe my love of thrillers had dissipated. The domestic, trendy, psychological thrillers just haven't been doing it for me lately; I was in desperate n

4.5 this book so surprised me stars

Walking into my local library, I spotted this book on a shelf for new arrivals. Looks interesting I thought, but really another thriller? This one looked different because it was not only a thriller but also had a sci fi mention in its book cover blurb. So, I picked it up thinking I'll probably read a bit and set it down. I was totally wrong.

This book provided many hours of the "I just could not put it down" minutes. It was fascinating how the author wove a sto
EPIC—Literally the first word that comes to mind after finishing up Christopher Rice's masterpiece, Bone Music . Charlotte doesn't have the cookie-cutter life that many would be able to relate to. When she was seven years old, her parents were arrested after they were discovered to be a pair of serial killers, who in fact murdered Charlotte's birth mother. Charlotte's "parents tried to mold her into their prodigy with little success. Once she was rescued, Charlotte was reunited with her biologi ...more

First line, first page. Instantly hooked. Serial killers who can't bring themselves to kill a baby and raise her as their own. Me this entire book:

Hi, my name is Hayley and I’m obsessed with murder, especially serial killers. I listen to a murder podcast while I eat breakfast. It’s my thing. I also love super powers. SO yay for a book that combines the two!

Except this book SUCKED! My god, it took me almost a month to finish this. I seriously dreaded listening to it every morning, it was so bad. One day my roommate walked in and asked why I was listening to a telephone operator. So, yeah, in case you are wondering the na

I’m so thankful to Little Bird Publicity, Thomas & Mercer, and Amazon Publishing for providing my free copy of BONE MUSIC by Christopher Rice - all opinions are my own.

“All she feels is the bone music and the sense that she has become not darkness but a great fire, bringing a sudden, blazing end to it.”

This book literally grabbed my attention from the very first sentence and just kept hold of me the entire time I was reading it! It’s one outstanding thriller and Rice is one hell of a writer
There's more than one way to stoke the fires of revenge. Charlotte Rowe spent the first seven years of her life in the hands of the only parents she knew. A pair of serial killers. After her rescue her father sold her story to make money with a horror movie franchise. As an adult Charlotte has gone to extensive lengths to keep herself safe.

This book weaves a tale that turns the table on the female victim trope. The theme of control and manipulation of "Burning Girl" are handled well. But there i
This is an intense, fast-paced thriller that I really enjoyed! It follows this girl named Charolette Rowe, who gets kidnapped as a baby. These serial killers murder her mother, and then they can't bring themselves to kill her too, so they raise her as one of their own. She is raised by these two serial killers until she is seven years old; when they are finally caught and she is sent home to her real father. Her Father decides to sell her story to the media and she gets labeled as the "Burning G ...more

Bone music 3.5⭐
Bone music was dark and mysterious and i loved it.
She had something horrible happen. Most times when people go through a tragedy they try to push that memory down so far thats it barely stingsthe surface.
She wasnt that lucky. In fact she was entirely unlucky. And in my opinion, unloved.
Her father wrote books about her disaster and put a twist on them to make them sell. The he made it even more dark and monsterous. The books turned to movies as so many do and her hell kept growi

DNF @ 26%. I like kick-ass chicks but not chemically enhanced.. As for the male lead - “But he’s a bigger fan of actually getting to know a woman, and relieving himself with porn until the time’s right to hop into bed with her” - I’m old-fashioned, but not my notion of a romantic hero. The flat present tense prose is terribly monotonous too.
Bone Music was a pretty interesting audio book. I feel like I zoomed through half of the book yesterday and then the rest of it today. Well, that's because I did. I actually started the audio kind of late then I went to sleep (yes I sleep people) and started it as soon as I got to work. It definitely made work more tolerable.

Really enjoyed this one -- even more than I expected to. The description sounded interesting and, for once, the actual story delivered!
Charley is a strong, likeable character that you quickly form an attachment to, and her circle of friends are just as interesting.
While the actual premise of this book is a little out there, I enjoy that kind of book as long as it's well-written, and this one definitely is. I should say this is my first foray into Christopher Rice's work and this book reminded m

I suspected Christopher Rice was a successful author riding on his mother's (Anne Rice) coattails, but this turned out to be a first rate thriller, and I apologize to him for my unworthy expectations!

Trina Pierce was abducted as a baby and spent her first seven years with the killer couple who murdered her mother. They wanted to ‘train’ her to be just like them. After she was rescued from the clutches of the serial killers, Abigail and Daniel Banning, her nightmare should have ended, but her father saw fit to exploit her experience, through the tabloid press and the movie industry. That, together with a weird stalker who admired the Banning’s, gave Trina the incentive to escape and detac

Growing up, I was always a fan of reading. Always. A book or two here or there, sometimes more in the summer, sometimes more in the winter. But, I always read. Then came a moment in my freshman year of high school where I stumbled upon A DENSITY OF SOULS by Christopher Rice. Mind you, I do not remember how I found this novel, where I bought it, or how I had even heard of it. What I do remember vividly is every moment after I opened the novel. I remember bringing it with me everywhere, sneaking i ...more

It’s been ages since I’ve read a 450 page book in three days. And I would have read Christopher Rice’s Bone Music much quicker if eye fatigue and life hadn’t gotten in the way. Rice, one of my favorite authors, has created a compelling tale, that of Charlotte Rowe, a young woman coping with the fact that the first seven years of her life were spent with serial killers. Charlotte is trying desperately to put her life back together in her adulthood when she becomes manipulated. And that manipulati ...more

First in The Burning Girl sci-fi thriller series and revolving around Charlotte Rowe, as she’s known now.

My Take
A story narrative that uses in medias res with that confusing interview to pull you in and then goes backwards and forwards, using lots of flashbacks and incorporating the angel-devil inner conflict, mostly with Charlotte and somewhat with Luke.

It’s a common enough sub-theme, that family is what you make it, not just blood. You can’t help but laugh and cry at the same time at the start

Thank you so much Amazon Publishing and LMS for sending me a copy of Christopher Rice's new novel in exchange for an honest review.  I really enjoyed Bone Music, it was completely unique and very refreshing.  I haven't read a story quite like this one and it made it that much more engrossing.  A badass female lead with a dark history, entertaining side characters, thrills mixed with science, all elements that added to make this a four star read!  I can't wait to see where this series goes.

This is a HUGE leap outside my comforts zone, but I LOVED it!
I love how fast pasted it was, how invested I got in the character. Charlotte Rowe has NOT had an easy life and I enjoyed the heck out of reading about her story. How she was cooping or not cooping, what she wished was different but how it couldn’t be. I just liked her character and the narrator I loved, I enjoyed the almost two tones she did when she was on the medication and when she wasn’t it was really awesome.

Bone Music will take you on a fast-paced, thrilling ride through the world of 'what if' to land somewhere between reality and science fiction.

I'm not going to lie - I have a thing for superhero stories. With that said, when I first read the summary for this book (I know, I's rare that I do this) I was intrigued. A thriller that also has the feeling of a superhero origin story? Um, sign me up! A strong female lead? Yep, that too!

Then I started the book and, while it was a little diffe

***4 Stars***

Bone Music is a great read with a heroine who's trying to outrun her tragic past, rebuild her life, and learn who she can actually trust.

Charlotte Rowe was kidnapped as a child, her mother was murdered and she was raised by serial killers (this sentence alone had me hooked and convinced me to give this book a try). When she was 8, she was rescued and returned to her father, only to be exploited by him when he turns her troubled life into a book and later on into a movie franchise.

I really enjoyed reading Bone Music - this thriller has A LOT going on in the storyline. The following info is contained in the blurb - so no spoilers - Charlotte spent her first seven years living with a pair of serial killers after they killed her Mother when she was a baby. After being rescued, her father than exploits her for several years to earn as much $$ as he can off her story. And that is just the start of the book!!

As a young adult, Charlotte is doing her best to survive b
