This is one of those short stories that is really difficult to review as saying anything about it could give the story away.
It's short, it's character driven, it's sexy. I found it well written and easy to read. There are plenty of details that evoke the time and place, and take you into a different world.
I really like this tale and recommend it. 4.5 stars

Smoldering is the only way to describe this short story.

The slow burn of Ingrid's awakening left me breathless.

My sigh when the smoldering burn finally ignited could probably be heard miles away.

Do yourselves a favour and put all The Tales of Freya on your wishlist. You won't be disappoint.

She loves to challenge overused concepts of the time and its peoples in her writing, breaking them down to just that: men and women facing the immediacy of life and death, love and lust in a world of crackling fires and rough landscapes.
