Rehash with nothing new

The Real Amityville Horror is a rehash of everything that came before it. The author suffers from conspiracy theories and claiming facts against fiction without any true investigation beyond reading various books on the subject and internet fodder.

It would have been interesting if they had actually left their home and interviewed actual people but instead you get redigested hyper babble. A book this short is riddled with typos and grammar mistakes from he

Boring!

I chose the book because I thought it sounded interesting. Bad choice. The book is confusing in that it's timeline jumps back and forth with no explanation. It seems as though the same topic is recycled paragraph after paragraph. Very disappointing. The author accused people of exploitation of the DeFeo murders. Pot meet kettle. Not one new or interesting item is offered.

The Real Horror is this book

With a name like Frances J. Armstrong it hardly seems possible that the author's first language is not English, but apparently it is not. The book has only 54 pages, but it was difficult to finish, so badly is it written. When I did finish it, the first thought I had was gratitude that I didn't waste any money buying it.

Should have been ghostwritten

This is a story of murders, demonic possession, exorcism, haunting, fraudsters, and possible incest written in the most boring and laborious way possible. No "personalities" emerge - not the people invo!ved, not the murders, not the haunting. It is just as dry as possible, and poorly written from a structural point of view..

Despite the negative reviews, I went into this hoping to learn more about the DeFeo murders that predate the infamous tales of haunting. But this book is so poorly written, you would think it was written by a middle school student who only knows how to cite Wikipedia. An example of this occurs in the following excerpt:

"In Butch's various stories, another consistency along with claiming Dawn's involvement is that he maintains his innocence in killing his three younger siblings.

Interesting content (the truth behind the hoax of "haunting", some details about the murder trial of the guy who killed his family in the house), but the writing is middle-school level terrible. Grammar errors, punctuation problems, incomplete sentences, spelling someone's name differently from page to page... yeesh! Reminded me of reading 8th graders' papers.

The first thing that comes to my mind is THANK GOD this book was free. It was really, really bad. The author was constantly saying one thing in one paragraph and then saying the opposite in the next. And sooo many typos. Not even sure it should get a star.

This was ok. Writing could have been better but interesting read. I have enjoyed this ever since watching it as a kid many years ago.

Interesting

The story was interesting but the writing was awful but I thought it was real and never considered it being a hoax.

It was an interesting compilation of different articles and books, but the grammar and overall quality was low. I’d recommend it as a quick read, but it’s nothing amazing.

Very Poorly Written

A very disappointing read. Full is contradictory viewpoints by the author. Written badly with a great deal of errors. Definitely would not recommend.

Quick overview of who what where and when. Good starting point to pique interest. Not for anyone looking for an immersive read.
