I was looking at the list of "additional texts" that the editors of the Macquarie PEN Anthology of Australian Aboriginal Literature recommended, and at the top of the list I saw a familiar name: Sermsah bin Saad. Sermsah was on the first season of So you think you can dance Australia, and has since appeared in the musical movie Bran Nue Dae. I am a real fan of his, and was thrilled to discover that he had written a picture book as well!

The Best Little Knitter in the West is awesome. bin Saad's text and Cook's illustrations are both so joyful and fun, and I really love George, the best knitter in the West. Probably my favorite spread is the one with the newspaper stories, because there you can learn even more about both George and the burglar who threatened George's knitting shop.

Plus, yay for a book about guys who knit!
