This is a debut book by Sahil Mehta but I must openly admit that it never looked like one. The story is a compelling one with a strong message "Follow your passion"

The ending of the story is not the usual one but the one with a positive message that would certainly appeal to the readers.

The Protagonist Robin Mehta was born in an affluent family and his dad always wanted him to join his business. His brother Suraj dies after having a spat with the father which shakes Robin very much. He also wanted to become a musician but his dad wanted him to complete his engineering degree and join their thriving business.

Robin meets up Aisha who comes as a breeze in his troubled life since he has lost his brother while his mother was dead, long ago. She brings a positive energy in his life and they both fall in love which has been explained very beautifully in the story. Just then, Robin invites her to meet his flat mate Jordan who very much resembled his brother Suraj but to Aisha's horror, there was no person like that.

Was Robin conversing with a ghost/unknown entity?

Just then everything was about to go in the right path, Robin takes a drastic decision. In the end, he emerges successful but did he get settled with his love life?

Read this interesting novel which will keep you hooked till the end.

If you never try you will never know

'If you never try you will never know' by Sahil Mehta is a tale of love and motivation with some ambitions. It is a story of fulfilling dreams and the struggles faced in order to achieve the goal. This was the debut novel of the author and it looked like same. The starting of the story was kind of a fairy tale having a legend of lullaby and dwarfs which gave it a childish touch.

The name of the protagonist is Robin and the whole story revolves around him and his dreams. He always wanted to be a musician and never wanted to join his father's business but his father never approved. After his elder brother's and mother's death, there was no one who could support his dream. After many struggles, he finally managed to pursue his dreams and left for Vihan city. There he meets Jordan. Jordan is also a very important character of the story. He also meets the love of his life there, Aisha. After few chapters story became boring. It seems that author has tried to increase the length of the novel by adding unnecessary elements. After that story gained its pace and there comes a scene where Robin had to make a decision where he has to choose between his love and his career. He chooses latter and loses Aisha but that doesn't demoralize him. So this was the basic plot of the story - "A chase of an ordinary guy for his not so ordinary dreams."

The story was written in the simple language which was comfortable. This novel is ideal for those who are looking for a light read. There were some grammatical mistakes which disturbed the pace of reading and some extra dragged incidents which were not necessary. Also, I think that the starting of the book was not ideal. Hoping to read something better from the author next time.

REVIEW:-

‘If You Never Try, You Will Never Know’ by Sahil Mehta is a beautiful and thrilling story of Robin, its protagonist. It is the debut novel of the author and he has penned it down really well. The storyline is well knit and meticulously drafted to produce this heart-warming story. The narration is very good and the coherence of the plot is well maintained.

The character of Robin is designed with utmost clarity and profoundness. I loved the part where he describes the Vihan city and those tiny dwarfs. The description itself is so magical that one will be bound to fall in love with that imaginary city. The story inspires one to follow their heart no matter what because the real essence of living is in pursuing your desires and dreams. The life might pelt stones at you and the choices might get tougher but if you wish to reach somewhere, listen to your heart. The power of your inner voice is invincible and it will ultimately direct you towards the goal of your life.

During the middle of the story, the plot gets a little annoying due to the excessive portrayal of spicy love making of Aisha and Robin. I guess it was not required to stretch the narrative.

But towards the end of the book, the turn of the events in Robin’s life are exhilarating. That is the point when realization dawns upon him and slowly positivity embraces him. As he defeats the demons in his minds, he moves towards his destiny. The destiny that gifts him his ambition and peace of mind. Love being the ultimate force plays an instrumental role in Robin’s transformation and success.

The title is simple and in sync with the storyline. Until you take a step forward and try your hands out in new things, you will never know what is your potential. The cover of the book is quite captivating that depicts the inclination of the boy towards music clearly.

Kudos to the author for putting up such an intriguing story that motivates its readers to never lose the hope and strive forward relentlessly.

Read this wonderful tale of love and ambition!

"... I don't need the whole world to accept me. Just a few should be okay. Even if I can find one person who understands me and my life, and doesn't try to change me. I can live with that person..."

That's Robin for you. I think in the whole book these few lines actually says it all about who he is as a person/ character.

This book was a giveaway in exchange for an honest review. So this is how I really felt about this book.

There are books you fall for from the page, this is not one. For about 25-30 pages I couldn't quite place the protagonist. He was all over the place. The plot was all over the place. Around that point I realized that's what this is about. Robin, he just don't fit anywhere.
This book revolves around the protagonist, Robin. And there's two things about him that's appealing.
One, he's flawed and he struggles. Two, he struggles, but he doesn't make that struggle the center of his life. There's more to him on every frame and it's interesting how the author have made the narration come by that way.

He battles health issues, his love life and inner drive of passion equally. He fights and fails with himself one too many times, the book ends when he surrenders; when he finally accepts.

And the journey he goes through to reach that point in life is both interesting and inspiring equally. Around half way you'll start to root for him. There are these tiny tidbits of him, his personality, that the author have showcased so beautifully. When he makes a mistake and talks reason to himself. When he takes an impulsive decision, when he oh-so-maturely decides against a goodbye to his roommate, he shines through like the person who sits next to you on your day today life. There's no larger than life image about him, no over dramatic tricks and turns, and his relationship with Aisha and Aisha as a character herself help Robin to come alive as close as he can to reality. And that's exactly the thing with this book that won me over. It felt so real.

To yearn for approval, to long for someone he loves, his denial, decisions, mistakes, struggle, perseverance is what every man has in himself. Robin is poster boy to a modern day guy figuring things out in his early twenties.

Every other character supported Robin's perfectly. Aisha for one, such strong hand morally, emotionally and otherwise. His dad, I guess though he comes so less he is in fact the center point. Robin starts from him and comes a full circle to him. Jordan, Anuj, Karan, Raghav - everybody did their part to perfection.

I was almost 70 percent done when the book gripped me. This is a book you start casual, read light but carry around in mind for a day or two after you finish.

A contemporary read. Worth your time and thought. Do give it a chance.

What happens when love and ambition clash with each other? What happens when the desire for one's goals and parental pressure clash against each other? While reviewing this book I did wonder should I think like a parent or like the protagonist? Whichever way I thought, I realised one thing - as a parent, I can't help 'not' having dreams for my kids and as a person, I want to live my life. Robin loved music but as with every household, music is a hobby and it can never be a profession. While one can't blame the parents for this, one can sometimes wish that parents should be more open to the choices made by the children. Discuss with them. Lend a support.

Leaving the house at the age of eighteen must not have been easy for Robin but love happens and things changed for him.

I liked the concept a lot but the pacing is a bit slow. It took me some time to really get into the story but once I did, I liked it a lot. The pacing part if the author keeps in mind for his future books, he will have some beautiful tales to tell.

THE TITLE-

The title clearly suggests a link between ambition and determination. Achieving success is not about going against the tide. I believe in going with the flow. I don't believe in fighting against the flow. You ride on your river and you go with the tides and the flow. But it has to be your river, not someone else's. Everyone has their own river, and you don't need to swim, float, sail on theirs, but you need to be in your own river and you need to go with it. And I don't believe in fighting the wind. You go and you fly with your wind. Let everyone else catch their own gusts of wind and let them fly with their own gusts of wind, and you go and you fly with yours.
With the words determination, success another word comes up which we call t as destiny. The title too metaphorically creates an atmosphere so as to incorporate the feeling of destiny within the readers. They say what we call our destiny is truly our character and that character can be altered. The knowledge that we are responsible for our actions and attitudes does not need to be discouraging, because it also means that we are free to change this destiny. One is not in bondage to the past, which has shaped our feelings, to race, inheritance, background. All this can be altered if we have the courage to examine how it formed us. We can alter the chemistry provided we have the courage to dissect the elements.
I felt the title to be apt and very related to the plot.

REVIEW OF THE BOOK-

The story starts with a conflict where we see robin loved music whereas his dad wanted him to join their business. So there is a question about the dreams versus reality, ambition versus the truth. The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people. We have always learned to live the Life of Your Dreams. But a second question arises- WHY?
When you start living the life of your dreams, there will always be obstacles, doubters, mistakes and setbacks along the way. But with hard work, perseverance and self-belief there is no limit to what you can achieve.
The plot also has a second theme of will power along with destiny. It clearly tries to portray the fact that Whatever your passion is, keep doing it. Don't waste time chasing after success or comparing yourself to others. Every flower blooms at a different pace. Excel at doing what your passion is and only focus on perfecting it. Eventually people will see what you are great at doing, and if you are truly great, success will come chasing after you.
Aisha acts as a catalyst here. She brings the idea of perseverance and hope which gives the plot its true feeling of its third theme- DREAM. The lotus is the most beautiful flower, whose petals open one by one. But it will only grow in the mud. In order to grow and gain perseverance, first you must have the mud --- the obstacles of life and its suffering. ... The mud speaks of the common ground that humans share, no matter what our stations in life. ... Whether we have it all or we have nothing, we are all faced with the same obstacles: sadness, loss, illness, dying and death. If we are to strive as human beings to gain more perseverance, more kindness and more compassion, we must have the intention to grow as a lotus and open each petal one by one.
The story takes a turn when Robin invites Aisha to meet his flat mate Jordan who very much resembled his brother Suraj but to Aisha's horror, there was no person like that. And this leads to the plot’s another theme-CHOICES. Everything is a choice and every choice has a consequence; a good one or bad one! We choose to choose every day, whether we choose not to choose, but it is not all our choices that result in something better! It is not all our choices that result in something lasting! It is not all our choices that result in something fulfilling. No matter what our daily conscious and unconscious choices result in, the lessons from the results of our choices that can help shape our next choices must never be neglected, for they that shall neglect the lessons from the consequences of their choices shall always choose and choose again and again, and in the end, they shall never see any lasting and fulfilling footprints!
What decision does robin takes? What happens to Aisha and their lives? Who was Jordan really?
To get the answers of these question you have to book a date with the book at

POSITIVE ASPECTS-

1. The plot
2. The characterization
3. The blending of different themes

RATINGS-

Overall I would like to rate the book 45 on a scale of 50.

If You Never Try, You Will Never Know by Sahil Mehta is an inspirational story about a young man Robin, who by the means of his sheer passion for music, tries to overcome his life’s troubles and fight his personal demons.

Robin has had a troubled childhood. His mother left his father, his elder brother committed suicide and he himself suffers from anxiety and depression. Resorting to drugs, he finds solace in them and lives in his own imaginary world, in the city of Vihan where he studies music, his life’s passion. Also present in his world is his dead brother Suraj, in the guise of his room-mate Jordan. Then the arrival of Aisha not only brings the much needed help in his life but also a fresh start for him when she brings him out of his self-destructing and hallucinating lifestyle. It is then revealed that Robin is living the life as dreamt by his father for him, doing civil engineering from a college in Chandigarh along with Aisha, and not following his love for music and creativity. Having been sober for almost two years and a steady yet fulfilling relationship with Aisha sees Robin moving ahead in life but somewhere deep down in his heart and his sub-conscious mind, his true calling never dies. Despite this, when all seems to be going well, Jordan returns.
What will Robin do now? Will he fall into the trap of imaginations and hallucinations again? Or will he fight back to emerge a winner in the end? What about Aisha, who has been a great support to him? Where will his heart and mind lead him to?

Written in simple English and a first person narrative, the book is quite easy to read. Although it begins on a dull note, the story gets exciting for some time when it is revealed that whatever has happened until now, is all a figment of imagination of the lead. But as a typical plot would have had it, the villain definitely comes back to haunt the hero, and enable him to fight it off to emerge stronger than before. There are ever only two characters that can be said to be taking the story forward, Robin and Aisha, and both of them have been given strikingly contrast personalities. While Robin is a druggie, imaginative and free bird, Aisha is a straightforward, rule abiding girl. Their coming together becomes a life savior for Robin, who otherwise would have been lost long since. Robin’s character description has been done partly by words, partly by reader’s imagination, and personally I feel, that’s a better option than to leave nothing for the reader to do. Although his drug addiction is shown in a very dramatic manner, his rehabilitation is completely side tracked. Aisha’s character is dodgily sketched, and since I know that half the story was only imagination, that may or may not have happened, that leaves this particular character in a much more shadier place than before.
Robin’s struggles as an upcoming musician has been explored, but not exhaustively, which is very essential for him since he is literally mad about his music. Also, the time duration after which he decides to give up is not enough to support his claim of trying hard enough. The author could have devoted some more space to this outing of the lead, after all, the whole story is about him finding peace in his work and passion for music.
Although I didn’t love the book, I would recommend it as a one time read to those who are struggling with similar situations, because “If you never try, you will never know”

Story:

The eighteen year old, protagonist, Robin Gupta left his home and arrived in the city of Vihan, to pursue his dream of becoming a musician. Even though he is relieved of his dad’s tyranny, the new city is not going easy on him. The ghosts of his past continue to haunt him. Robin exists in reality and lives in his hallucinations induced due to his addiction to the anti-depressant drug Vetra.

Aisha comes like a breather in his tumultuous life. Initially, when they met, she too was dealing with a rough patch in her life. It's as if they both had found each other. Like him, she too has passion for music.

His flat mate Jordan, recognises his passion for music and encourages him to pursue it. But gradually, his overambitious dreams become an obsession.

Find out what lies in Robin's destiny and how does he manage to overcome the demons in his mind.

This story will make you believe in the soothing effect of love and power of dreams.

Review:

When I read the first few pages of this book, there were stark similarities to the plot of the critically acclaimed Bollywood film Udaan. But as the story unfolded further, the overall plot was very unique and one of a kind.

The characterization of the main protagonist, Robin Gupta is given in a subtle way. The imagery of his hallucinations is surreal. The character of his love interest, Aisha, is really endearing, always radiating positivity and standing with Robin in his tough times. The author has given the best lines to them in his book. There was good amount of chemistry between them, but I felt it was cheesy in some places. Nevertheless, the author has defined what true love actually is through their characters.

The emotional scenes are written with so much conviction, that you will be deeply moved after reading them. The story has its share of thrill and well built suspense that will keep you hooked till the end.
I liked the cover of the book too, especially the way the title of the book is printed on it, highlighting the words 'Try' and 'Know', thereby laying emphasis on those words.

The writing style is so lucid and beautiful that, in the end you will find it hard to believe that this work is of a debutante. The story is something that will linger in my mind for quite a long time.

The author Sahil Mehta has hit the right notes with his book 'If you never try, you will never know'.

Rating: 4/5

'Listen to the heart even if it says "Jump in the ocean" then jump may be a rare pearl is down there waiting to be discovered.'

'If You Never Try You will Never Know' by Sahil Mehta published by Notion Press in 2017, 1st Edition a book of 217 pages priced at Rs. 220.

This book belongs to everyone those who have a dream in their heart. There are 3 type of people in the world, one who have a dream and they are working for it, secondly those who had a dream but they burried it in their heart and are doing something which they are expected to do as per society norms and lastly those who has a dream and the spark in their heart is alive, working or worked as per society norms but they have the courage to break the norms and finally to follow their dreams. These are the kind of people who are the most successful kind and they value their journey and their success.

And Robin Gupta falls exactly in the third category who tried to adjust to the expectations and norms but finally left everything and followed his dream. He wanted to be a musician like his mother and his elder brother Suraj. There are numerous incidents in his journey where he failed while following his dream and the failures were heart breaking, so much that he lost the love of his life for his dreams.

Robin during his early childhood & teenage lost his mother and his elder brother simultaneously. His mother wanted to make her career in music but because of his father she couldn't and died when Robin was quiet young. Then after few years his elder brother Suraj too wanted to be a musician but again because of his father he committed suicide.
These incidents have hampered Robin's brain so much that he started forming a different hallucinated world around him and the characters in these hallucinations were those who wanted Robin to pursue his dream, including his brother Suraj acting as Jordan and his mother.
These hallucinations stopped when the love of his life Aisha entered his life. He felt complete with her but had to leave his dream behind and had to work as per expectations.

But when he stopped following his dream the hallucinated world started to appear again. Thus, the turning point came and he had to make choices and he followed his dream.
Failures did welcomed him but finally his dedication paid off.
Initially the hallucination part of the story is little confusing and looks shady.
The story tool its grip very late. Storyline is little weak but once Robin starts following his dream the storyline improves and around the end the reader gets engaged in the story.
Recommend this book as a one time read to those who somehow recognises themselves with the third category of people.

Name of the book: If You Never Try, You Will Never Know
Author: Sahil Mehta
Publisher: Notion Press
Number of pages: 228

About the Author:

Sahil Mehta was born and raised in India and is currently living in Seattle, where he works as a software developer for Amazon. Inspired by the power of words, emotions and various life experiences, he naturally gravitated towards writing. If You Never Try, You Will Never Know is his first book, and its storyline is influenced by his childhood dreams, adulthood obsession and teenage love. Currently, he is working on a story, based on the characters and places he came across during his stay in the USA.

Review:

“If You Never Try, You Will Never Know” is a brilliant inspirational novel by debutant author Sahil Mehta. The plot revolves around Robin, the protagonist, whose character is beautifully etched out. Inspired by his mother, Robin dreams of pursuing music, but his father has other plans. He forces his son into studies that would eventually lead him to shoulder the responsibility of their family business. Being a headstrong and determined young adult, Robin leaves his house at the age of 18 to pursue his passion. Readers would relate to Robin’s mental state and the emotions that influence his decisions.

Gradually, ambition coupled with independence gives way to obsession, and before we know it, Robin is addicted to drugs, and the plot takes a murky turn which mysteriously unleashes a new side to his life.

Aisha’s entrance in Robin’s life is similar to discovering light at the end of a dark tunnel. Her presence acts as a catalyst, pushing him further towards his dream. It is for the reader to find out whether Aisha and Robin’s love is able to withstand the storms that approach them.

A tinge of mystery and surrealism is imparted into the plot via the character of Jordan, which I’ll refrain from divulging, so as to keep the review spoiler-free.

All in all, “If You Never Try, You Will Never Know” turns out to be an engrossing read, complete with ambition, romance, mystery and the perfect amount of twists and turns to keep the reader hooked till the last page. A few sections could have been edited to maintain the fluidity of the plot but the overall impact of the message embedded in the book helps the reader to overlook them. Author Sahil Mehta has etched out his characters really well, and this book promises to be a complete entertainer.

'If you never try you will never know' by Sahil Mehta is a tale of love, ambition, and motivation. Its genre is romance plus motivation. The story revolves around Robin, who is the protagonist of the story. He wanted to pursue a career in music but his dad wants him to take over his business. When his mother and elder brother were alive, they supported him whole heartedly in pursuing a career in music but after their death, it was too hard for him to convince his dad. After the departure of his mother and his brother Suraj, he severely suffered from hallucinations. Over a period of time, he fell in love with a girl named Aisha.
The character of Robin is portrayed beautifully in the book. The description of an imaginary Vihan city and the dwarfs singing the hymn in unison were impressive. The character of Jordan is also designed wonderfully. The about the existence of Jordan made the story even more interesting. The author succeeds in delivering a message that if someone is determined to achieve something then no super power can stop him from fulfiling his dreams.
I felt that in the middle, the story was unnecessarily stretched by the description of love making between Robin and Aisha. It was not required because the plot was going extremely well and it possesses the ability to connect with the readers.
Towards the end of the story, the plot again becomes interesting when Robin has to choose any one among love and success and he opts for success and for him success was pursuing a career in music. He faces many rejections and even loses his love, Aisha in quest of becoming a successful musician. Even after facing a lot of odds he finally finds peace and eventually that peace and hard work leads him to success.
Kudos to the author for writing such an amazing story. It never felt that this book is the debut work of an author. The language is easy and the narration is beautiful. The story completely justifies the title. The book motivates its readers and makes 'em believe that one separation can't ruin anyone's life.

If you Never Try, You Will Never Know is the debut book by author Sahil Mehta. It was published on 3rd June 2017 by Notion Press and is widely available online and at the bookstores. The cover page of the book is very simple having a picture of a girl and a boy holding hands. The colours used in the cover are yellow and green which are giving the cover a very subtle and a captivating look.

If You Never Try, You Will Never Know revolves around Robin who gets inspired by his mother to become a musician but is forced by his father to pursue education needed to join the family business, compelling him to leave the house at the age of eighteen and in order to make an independent living his dream turns into obsession leading him into a drug addiction. In the process of his choices he meets Aisha and they fall in love with each other. But his love life doesn't go well because of his over ambitious nature. On the other hand, Robin's roommate becomes his guide who motivates him to follow his heart and make a career in music.

If You Will Never Try, You Will Never Know is a very motivating journey revolving around music and dreams. It is a beautifully penned down book and is written in a very simple and easy language, having a very interesting and an engaging plot. The characters of the book are very well described and are very connectable. Various instances are very well described especially the description of the Vihan city and the dwarfs. The way the hallucinations are described are very well and a reader can easily relate with them. The author has tried to establish a suspense which is thrilling and is highly appreciated. The ending of the book is very unique and the various twists are really unexpected. The story justifies the title very well. Overall, it is a blend of different themes such as love, friendship, trust, dreams and destiny.

It’s a story of Ambition, Love and Destiny as the title suggests and rightly so the author has sincerely tried to weave these into the story.
I must congratulate the author for choosing such a topic of ‘passion versus expectation’ for his debut story. This is the story of Robin, his mother was a musician and father a self made businessman. Robin’s passion and heart was in Music while his father’s expectation was for him to join his business as he was his sole heir. What does Robin do? Does he follow his passion at the cost of losing his father? Does he join his father’s business and forget his passion? What are his challenges? You will have to read the story to get an answer to this dilemma.
In life’s journey, many of us reach the crossroads where we need to choose between our passion and parent’s choice or society’s expectations to have the clichéd secure career. Robin is like any other eighteen year old with this choice to make but for him there is also the burden of his past that he has to face. On his journey, he meets Jordan his roommate who is a guiding force and Aisha his classmate with whom e falls passionately in love. Aisha comes into his life as a breath of fresh air and brings joy and excitement into his life. Will this love help make Robin’s choice easier?
What I liked in the book:
The premise of the story, the background into which the life story of Robin is woven the multitude of topics that the author has brought up in the story.
The story has many angles and many layers to it, discussing these will e a spoile for those who haven’t read the story.
The unexpected twists in the plot.
What I did not like:
The pace is slow.
The narration gets a tad bit boring at places. It feels like the really good premise got lost in the narration. The story felt like it was loosely woven together. The story could have been much more crisp and precise.
Nevertheless the twists and the ending of the story more than made up for these shortcomings.
All in all a simple read, a thought provoking story with unexpected twists.

Ambition love Destiny

All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.

This line motivated me so well. It‘s true when we have the courage to pursue our dream, we will make it come true by all means.

Robin who has a great talent of a musician also inspired by his mother to become a musician is forced to do family business by his father. his dream turns into his obsession and he lives in a hallucination. He gets addicted to drugs and lives in his own imaginary world.
One fine day he meets the girl of her life, Aisha. They fell in love with each other deeply. He loves her beauty and everything about her. The more he fell in love with her, the more he stayed away from the drugs. But his obsessions for his dreams will let their relationship go smooth or will there be any hindrance due to it?
Anyhow Robin fights with his destiny and finally, he took the courage to pursue his dreams and even become successful in his life. But will he get everything in his life? Ambition, love and family.
To know the answer you have to peep into Robin's life, live into his hallucinations and moreover you will fell in love with his love story but most importantly, you will get motivated for your future endeavors, you will think of Robin when you will be at the lowest in your life and can be persuaded with the way he handled the situation and moved on. Only if you have the courage to pursue your dreams!
Good use of vocabulary, interesting at every point, only a bit depressed in the middle when we get to know about his hallucinations, otherwise a well-written fiction. Must read.

Sahil Mehta's new book, released earlier this year in the month of June is about an 18 year old protagonist who has left his home and arrived in a surreal city of Vihan. His motive is to pursue his dream of becoming a musician.

When dreams turn into obsession, it is not easy to lead them. Change is the only constant in life and is soon realised by the protagnosit who faces challenges in the new city. Meanwhile, the skeletons in his closets continue to interrupt him on his journey such being addicted to an anti-depressant drug Vetra.

In this process, he meets a girl and fall in love with her. Soon he finds a mentor and a friend who continues to motivate him to pursue his ambitions in order to fulfill his dreams. The storyline justifies the title quite well. Themes like love, friendship, dreams, ambition and obessession with them, do complement each other. The storyline has a steady narrative voice and delusional descriptions of hallucinations are quite surreal.

The characterisation has an in-depth value and all major characters develop witha thought. Generally, in romantic fiction one might not realise this much connection with characters other than protagonist but this novel gives time and space to other characters that are part and parcel in the life of our protagonist.

The writing style is smooth and beautiful, and the storyline, overall has the capacity to remain in the memories of a reader for long period of time.

I recommend this book to someone highly interested in themes and genres of love, romance, or surrealism.

4 out of 5!

“If you never try, you will never know,” is a mix of love, ambition, destiny, success, and loss. Robin, the protagonist of the novel, is inspired by his mother’s love for music. However, he is forced to look after the business run by his father which he refuses to.
The story is depressing in the first phase; Robin is a drug addict who lives in hallucination and imaginary world, seeing dwarfs and conversing with an imaginary character (whom he consider is his roommate and he thinks resembles his dead brother). Somehow, towards the middle, it made me feel better when he met Aisha whom he falls in love with, and she made him stay sane from his former obsession.
As I read, I felt Robin is just like every one of us, trying hard to fit in and fulfill his dream. He believes in himself; he is determined to go past everything and survive till the last. He is willing to leave everything behind just to pursue his dream of becoming a remarkable musician.
This book will take you on a journey where he had to take difficult life’s decision, and sacrifice certain things in life. It sends a strong message on how we cannot have best of both worlds. The dreamlike situations in the book make you wonder how your Mind and Heart want things differently.

The first few pages of the book will remind you of the Bollywood movie, 'Wake Up Sid' somehow. The protagonist Robin Mehta is a typical affluent guy who battles with his career choice of following his passion for music or joining his dad's successful business. Losing his brother, Suraj years back who after a fight with his dad who similarly did not allow him to make a career out of music died. Robin deep inside always blames hid dad for his brother's losing to life. Now, finding himself in the same situation Robin, chooses his passion and the decision is what infact exposes him to the not so cakewalk ride in the world. He battles to make his career and sees reality that following passion is one and making a living out of it another. In the midst of everything he falls in love with this beautiful girl Aisha.
Aisha becomes the factor for his comfort and solace. She brings the zeal in him and makes him live life again. She's fun, frolic, energetic and Robin just goes head-over-heels for her. Aisha too found in Robin the love of her life. They go on this beautiful romantic journey, sharing moments, experiences and everything beautiful.
But Robin, finds himself in a situation again where he has to choose between, love and his passion.

Everyone have their own set of dreams and passion. But few chose to follow them. While couple of them, give up after facing the hurdles, few achieve success after facing the initial struggles which make them think “Whether I did the right thing?”

“If You Never Try You Will Never Know” is an apt title to the story of Robin Gupta. Robin, who has to live up to his father’s expectations and not disappoint him but also want to pursue his dream of becoming a musician.

This is not the usual love story with happy ending. The climax is different and unexpected. But the story, well, though provoking.

This story is inspirational as it urges the readers that come what may in life, one mustn’t give up and if you don’t try to achieve your goals or dreams, you will never know. Give it a chance, you will face initial hurdles as life is not as simple as we might think but don’t give up.

Being a debut author, Sahil has done a good job, simple yet different love story with unique ending. The author has wonderfully expressed the mayhem Robin faces, his difficulties, his struggle, his helplessness and his hallucinations.

Mainly, the author wants to convey to his readers, to achieve a positive approach in life and no matter how much difficulties you face one must never give up pursuing one’s dream and passion.

The story revovles around Robin, the main protagonist, his life and its twists and turns. I was drawn to the book as it is a love story but what held me along was his ambition, his passion. If you are the one who wants to live your dreams out then this is the book for you.

The way the author has described certain places it sets one's imagination free. It was beautiful and surreal to read the description. It is a nice light read and his story is an instant connect for ambitious people. So needless to say the best thing about this book for me was Robin's ambition indeed and what an apt title loved it totally, so motivating.

The negatives -
At certain points the story seems dragged. There are certain parts which may be cut short but overall a good read.

The story has shades of fighting with inner demons, love of life, depressive childhood, maturing relationships and ultimately reaching his destination. However, it wasn't easy with some tough choices en-route. Love and destiny are not in your hands and making choices becomes difficult.

Ambition, Love, Destiny very big words but you need to chose the right path. Circumstances may or may not support you. Falling prey or surviving this is in your hands.

Its story of Robin, his love Aisha, father and his philosopher cum guru Jordan.

This book was my companion during a long flight. This book revolved around illusion and how it can play in our mind. The impact can on ambition and love life. But in the end it is we who have to control it. But in the process we loose valuables. Still the real character is tested in tough times. Read on this book not only to read about illusion but also to understand how we can achieve our dreams despite all obstacles.

This book has become a special one forever, for being with me through my most difficult phase of life. It has been my escape from life's harsh realities...
The protagonist's (Robin Gupta) struggle to strike a balanced relationship between his dad and his passion is too relatable.
Non the less, the 'shadow play' created by Robin's real and imaginary world has indeed added some spice to otherwise, a conventional boy-meet-girl love story.
However, missed the reappearance of the Lullabys!!

I generally don't pick up a book based on love since I believed most of them are alike. Well, I started the book with the same notion and am so happy to be proven wrong. The book started with a simple ambitious young man and flowed on smoothly until a thrilling revelation is made. I was so sure that it will still work like most of the works of fiction and will fall into the traps of the story line that I expected but it did not fail to surprise me with freshness.
The book kept me interested until I finished it. The selection of words and phrases made throughout makes the whole work live and real. A great concoction of surprise and smoothness!

The title of the book indicates a lot about the story. However what is different is how the author deals with it. From a simple story of ambition and love it reaches a new level of almost magic realism. Kudos to the author for his bold treatment of the theme.

The story was amazing. Just felt that the ending of the book was rushed a bit.
Being the first book for the author, he has done a great job. Would recommend to others too

IF YOU NEVER TRY YOU WILL NEVER KNOW, is the first book by Sahil Mehta and it's a good read. The book cover is ok, but it could have been better. Also, it gives you the whole idea that what's on the menu of the book.
The book title is one thing I am not much impressed with as it is too long, in my opinion, it should be short and crisp.

Let's talk about the story,

Life becomes cumbersome when we expect others to live the life in the same manner as we did. This goes true with our kids as well. In this story, The protagonist Robin wants to become a musician and his father wants him to join the family business, and between this tug of war, he lost two most valuable person, his mother, and his brother. His loneliness leads him to a new friend Jordan but does Jordan really exists? Don't itch your head go grab a book.
Despite many intricacies, Robin somehow manages to get admission in Vihaan School of Music, one of the best for music lovers. There he meets Aisha, A beautiful, bindaas, and extrovert girl whose magnetic charm drawn Robin's attention towards her and he fell in love. But like any other love story, this too had a sad ending leaving Robin shattered. But his love towards his passion(To Be a Musician) was so strong, that he recovered himself from the agony and moved forward.

The language used by the author is easy and understandable but at many places, the story slows down and a reader may lose interest. In my opinion, unnecessary narrations are not required, try to keep the reader glued to the book by making it short.

and chalte chalte this one is straight from Robin's heart.
