This is the second book I read by the same author and I like it. The story is science-fiction about an ecologist on research at the Monastery forest in Ethiopia. In his journey he saw a mysterious thing and the story follows this man trying to solve the mystery. In this book there is a lot of interesting topics raised about Ethiopia and I have taken good wisdom from this book. One of my favorite quotes from the book is :
After reading the first book in this series, reading this second book felt as if I were reading the same book. Yes, the setting and aspects of the story were somewhat different but the style, pace, protagonist, etc were the same. The whole endeavor felt very formulaic.
The protagonist acts like a petulant child, and his internal and external bemoanings get old pretty quickly; the author's tricks (for the plot and character development) are too obvious; and the supposed message is just hit-you-over-the-head didactic. Neither the main character nor the writing is done well enough to carry one book, let alone multiple books/series as employed, and by this point, I wish the author would just write a travel guide with his notes and observations of the places, instead of trying to masquerade it as speculative/fantasy novel.
Lastly, where are the editors?! (both for the Amharic and English)
Anyway, I don't see myself continuing with the rest of the books in the series.
this book is amazing book i read it with my childhood mind and it was so motivation sisay changes my life and my thinking system at all i love the book so much
