The Life We Almost Had is a beautifully told and emotional romance. This book hit me like a ton of bricks and I devoured it from page one all the way though to the end. I honestly didn't know which way the story was going to be taken which is what entranced me so much and I am so glad the build up took us where it did in the end.

Having read one of the authors novels in the past I knew this was going to be a

The Life We Almost Had is a heartwarming second chance love story that is filled with Laura Miller’s signature small-town charm. Her words effortlessly transport her readers to Sweet Home, Missouri and into the blossoming friendship and love story of Iva and Berlin.

There’s nothing better than a love story that begins early on in the characters’ lives. I always enjoy witnessing the very beginning of a relationship - from their first glances to the burgeoning friendship and, ultimately,

I absolutely LOVED this book and it's not only in my top 10 of the year for 2017, but my top 10 of all time favorite books. Laura writes a beautiful, second chance romance in The Life We Almost Had. She has got the small town romance down to an art. I feel like Sweet Home could have been the town I grew up in and felt like Iva and Berlin could have been my next door neighbors as she paints such a vivid picture of Sweet Home and the characters in it. I absolutely love the fact that Laura writes ...more

Such a beautiful read, full of emotions...

I have had this author on my radar for a few years but this is the first book of hers I have read and needless to say, I am hooked. This was such a sweet, small town, second chance story. It is written in Ivy and Berlin's POV with chapters of flashbacks perfectly placed. Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen, the story took another direction catching me off guard each time. I truly cannot express how much I loved this book. Definitely a

OH my!

This is one of those books I took my time with. I didn't want to rush the poetic beauty of this author's words! I highlighted so many things. I have to say, I cried, a lot! I was nervous, a lot! I was happy, a lot! Loved Berlin and Iva! Highly recommend this read. A beautiful story of young love.

Thank you so much Laura for sending me the book for an honest review! The book is definitely one that feeds my want of the perfect romance, it’s so cheesy but so romantic too. I would suggest having a few tissues with you . It’s a super cute, heart breaking but at the same time a heart melting story because of how romantic the dialogues can be. It totally gave me Colleen Hoover & a bit of Nicholas Sparks vibes! I’m so happy that I also won a giveaway that Laura hosted, giving away a signed ...more

Wow! What a story! Told in past and present chapters The Life We Almost Had is everything I love about second chance romances. Berlin and Iva meet when she is only twelve years old. Berlin and his family move into the house next door. After a forced meeting by Berlin himself a friendship soon ensues and then blossoms into something more. I loved their cute banter and everything they did as kids had me laughing one minute and swooing the next. Berlin is one of the boys that is so easy to fall ...more

And, once again, Laura did what she always does…she warmed my heart the moment it needed the most.

One of my all time favorite quotes from one of my favorite books is this one that says: “There is a string that connects us that is not visible to the eye. Maybe every person has more than one soul they are connected to, and all over the world there are these invisible strings. Maybe the chances that you’ll find each and every one of your soulmates is slim. But sometimes you’re lucky enough to

Hey you! I need to tell you something. I'm supposed to write a review for this book, but God knows I don't have any clue to how to do it, or where to start. Yeah, Laura does these things to people. So brace yourself!

If you read my last review about When Cicadas Cry you certainly know that I'm a fan of her stories, and I tend to talk and write like there's no tomorrow. I can't help it. This time I need to be careful though. I don't want to give any spoilers, so I'll try my best to get straight to

Laura Miller has a way of writing. The Life We Almost Had is a story of second chance, overcoming the odds, and following your heart. Iva and Berlin were teenage neighbors. From their first meeting as teenagers you could feel a connection between them. It was interesting and entertaining seeing how they would navigate having a “friend” of the opposite sex and how long it would take them to realize what they had was definitely more than just a friendship.

I really like that there were parents in

What another great book by Laura Miller! All her books have been 5 stars and this book one is no exception. This second chance romance will pull at your heart strings. It is sweet, it is tender, it is heartbreaking, it is pure romance. You will fall for Iva and Berlin, you will cry for them, cheer for them and hope for their HEA. I was completely captivated by this young love and how it survived the test of time. I must admit there was a moment or two when my heart stopped beating but wasn't ...more

This was such an emotional read. I love second chance stories so when I found this -almost on accident- I decided to read it right away and boy, am I glad I did. This was PURE LOVE in a nutshell. Their love was so pure. That's the only word I can think of to describe it.
I was thinking of pushing myself to finish this today (Sunday, although it's almost 2 am) and I didn't read during the day so I figured I wouldn't be able to do it but I simply couldn't put this down. Once I got to the last few

Nicholas Sparks has met his match. Laura Miller will make every reader believe in true love and fall in love with her story and her characters. True love is rare and hard to come by as are romance novels that are this good and that you will remember forever. As Iva and Berlin always had each other in their hearts, this book will forever be in mine. This book is breathtakingly beautiful and made me tear up more than once. This is The Notebook 2.0! Move over Nicholas Sparks because Laura Miller ...more

I could not put this book down—I couldn’t wait to find out how it ended. Laura’s writing really makes you feel like you’re there with the characters. I guess the only cure for the book hangover I’m about to experience is another one of her books...

I actually really liked this book, despite my current addiction to cozy mysteries and horror novels. It was a nice palate cleanser for my reading week. It was definitely an emotional ride and I love hated every minute of it.

Sweet love story of growing up, losing love, finding love and home. Don't want to give anything away but I was worried at one point with how this was going to end. Great read...could not put it down. My whole day off was spent reading this gem!!

Love This Life

During the spring that is slow to bloom, I read This Life We Almost Had, and felt warm breezes and sun rays. I felt first loves, remembered loves, and forever loves. What more could I ask for?
