Down-on-her-luck teacher, Daisy Clemmens, is about to learn some hard lessons. (Not like that, you perv.)

4 "Nanny" Stars

Hard Lessons was a fun and sexy story about two characters we met in the first book in the Wild Minds series. Daisy and Billy's romance was a slow burning, angsty one and even though I knew how it ended, I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. With Ms. West's strong writing and well developed characters, she brought them to life for a second time in a way that made me love them all over again.

Billy is a rock star who unexpectedly learns that he has a four year old daughter. Not one to shir

Was I actually considering this, a nanny job with some hot rocker and his feral child?

Pretty dang good. Rocker hires a nanny for the daughter he didn’t exactly know he had. Nanny and rocker have sexual tension. Nanny and rocker start a secret no strings relationship. Everything works out perfectly.... ok that’s a lie. Things are crazy, and wild... and hearts are broken. But all in all this is a good read. Kept me turning pages and even had me laughing at points. I read Good Lies first, and I did

I am not always drawn to prequel stories because - well, I already know how they end so I have trouble staying patient with the "before" piece of it.  However, I enjoyed Good Lies, the first book in the Wild Minds series, so much that there was no way I was going to miss out on this one.  And hey, guess what?  It was amazing.  No joke, one of the best books I have read in a while.  The kind of book that had me sending frantic messages to my friend and blogmate  as I experienced a vast variety of ...more

Overall, I really enjoyed this bad-boy rocker romance. Though the total time frame of this book is over a whopping 2 years of the characters being around one another, it didn't necessarily feel like a slow-burn. A bit angsty, sure. But not long-winded in the least. Billy was a bit of a brat, an atypical rockstar prototype - world revolves around him, string of meaningless hookups, stunted emotional growth, etc. Daisy was an extremely likable character. She was sweet while still having a backbone ...more

I was so excited to read Hard Lessons after finishing book one in the Wild Minds series. Billy Wanks was one of my favorite characters of Good Lies and I was looking forward to reading his and Daisy's story. Unfortunately, I found the journey Daisy and Billy take to happily ever after disappointing.

I did like the depth to Daisy. She lost her mother young, she was raised by an emotionally absent father, and had never felt like she was number one in anyone's life. There are moments throughout Hard

While I can't say that I'm much of a fan of Billy, I loved loved loved Daisy!

This a truly a sweet, almost swoon worthy book, that I pretty much couldn't put down until the end. The writing was fantastic.

We met Billy and Daisy in Good Lies (Wild Minds book 1) and this is their story.
Daisy comes as a live-in nanny for Billy's newly found daughter Addy. Billy is a wild and famous rockstar and loves his lifestyle.
Their story was hot and sweet, banter was sexy and I loved how both of them changed to compliment the other. Their love story spans couple of years but at the same time you don't feel disconnected from it. If you have read the first book, you know they have such a beautiful conclusion.

Charlotte West just might be my newest favorite author. Her writing is dialogue based and all internalization's will have you giggling or laughing out loud. Ms West created the delightfully dysfunctional spoiled rock star in Billy Wanks. I first met Billy & Daisy in Good Lies and this is their story - What is great about this book is it came out after Good Lies but gives nothing away therefore you can read this one first. Doesn't matter the order you read them - just do for a good time. I ho ...more

I love this series

I love everything about this series. The supporting characters, laugh out loud moments, hot sex scenes, and storyline is brilliantly written.
Can't wait for book three and see what direction this author takes it next.

Hard Lessons by Charlotte West is book 2 in her Wild Minds series but is set before the events of book 1, Good Lies. Having already read Good Lies, I can honestly say that it doesn't matter in which order you read these two books as they compliment each other perfectly and you'll enjoy them no matter what. However, the epilogue of Hard Lessons is set after the ending of Good Lies.

When your desperate for a job coming right Of of college, you pretty much do anything. And if that means going on tour with a notorious rocker with a foul mouth and with his wild eight year old daughter, then you start to question if you were using your brain.

Let me first say, I loved Daisy. How she was nurturing to Addison and was like a mother to her. She protected and shielded her from her father's crazy lifestyle on the road. But when Billy wanted something, he wasn't afraid to make his req

A really good book!!

This book was the first book I've been able to read in a while, as I've been in a book funk. No joke. And it was amazing! I loved how Daisy (aka Flower according to Billy) and Billy played pranks on each other, it was hilarious! Little Addy was so adorable with her penchant for biting, her free spirit, and her love for all things rainbow.

However, as much as I liked this book, there were a few things that I can't get over. First, in certain sentences in the book, there were w

This book definitely had potential but towards the end it seemed kind of rushed .
Daisy is in need of a teaching job she goes through an agency and meds Billy who is struggling with his daughter so he just found out was his . To me Daisy was a pushover I understood her love for Billy and all but when he called on her she dropped everything . The author portrayed Billy as this amazing rockstar father who although isn’t good at parenting he try’s , but he wasn’t that some parts of this sto

What a fantastic book! Hard Lessons is hands down a must read! This is the second book in the Wild Mind series and it is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!
Daisy is a teacher looking for a job and as most teachers seeking a teaching job know it is a hard to get. She finds herself applying and getting the job as a nanny to a rock star’s daughter, Addy. A job she only accepts because she thinks it will be short term because she plans on still applying for teaching jobs. However, years later she finds hersself still

** I was given an Advanced Reading Copy by the author in exchange for an honest review. **

This was the story of Billy, Addy's father. (Addison Wanks was our heroine from the first book in the Wild Minds series, Good Lies). Addy's father is a temperamental, spoiled British rock star named Billy Wanks. I had a hard time liking Billy in the first book. He was childish and self-centered. I'm sorry to say he wasn't much different in this book. I was hoping for more details and a better explanation as

Thank you for writing Billy and Daisy's back story, Charlotte!

Note: This can be read before or after book 1, Good Lies, since it's technically a prequel. There's only a little spoiler in the epilogue, but nothing you wouldn't expect to know going into book 1. However, there are some spoilers in regard to the outcome of Billy and Daisy's relationship, but knowing them doesn't take away from either book.

I was so excited to experience how Billy and Daisy came to be the couple they were in Good Lie

Oh this book makes this story and the series of Wild Minds so much better! I really loved Addison in Good Lies. We were introduced to Billy and Daisy in the first book. I loved Billy from the get go. Then we rewind back time and I flew in for some Hard Lessons. Charlotte West has me twisted up in this book. I got in deeper and got more mushy and tingly feelings when I read all about Daisy and Billy. Wanks and Janks bandmates play a huge roll in this book, and we meet Addison as a loveable little ...more

Edging toward 4.5/5. Really nice story about a hardened rocker falling for the very patient nanny. Well edited.

Billy found he had a daughter four years after she was born and after her mother died. Suddenly responsible for a child, he goes through several nannies before Daisy is recommended for the job. Although she has her masters degree and really wants a classroom teaching position, the jobs just aren't opening and Daisy is feeling a little desperate. Student loans need to be paid after all.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This is my second book by this author. I read the first book in the series GOOD LIES before this book as it was free in Kindle Unlimited. I would suggest you read this book first as it is about the heroine in the first books younger years and dad and nannies romance.

Daisy is a down on her luck new college graduate and this book shows you the first two years on the road with the rock star Billy Wanks and his 8 year old daughter, Addie. It

I absolutely loved Daisy and Billy's story!! I did not read this before Good Lies so I was thrilled to find out that Addy got her story as well. But Anyways I can't judge it as a prequel because it wasn't for me but I can say without a doubt I would've loved it in any order I read because this is a highly entertaining read. The things Billy does will have you not only laughing but you will get highly irritated as well. Half the time I wasn't sure if I loved him or hated him because he was so dam ...more

I absolutely loved this book. The banter and prabks between Billy and Daisy was so fun to read. I kept thinking the whole...If he's mean to you and picks on you its cause he likes you, saying my mom use to tell me. Daisy never planned on falling in love with the Addy let aline her rock god dad. What was supoose to be a year job so she could pay off her school loans lasted longer. Daisy just wants to be a teacher but with how economy is she has to puck a nanny occupation. S

Daisy loves kids so in between jobs she accepted the position to Nanny Addison Wanks, Billy's daughter who we met in the first book (Good Lies) in this series.
Billy Wanks is the epitome of Egotistical, pompus, drama llama, sex and sin rock god !!! Falling for him would be the biggest mistake of her life never mind her career, Right?

Hard Lessons is a look into the story of Billy and Daisy, who we met in Good Lies, and I found myself LOVING it! I'm not one who likes the Prequel after the series has started, but despite my personal preference, the talented Charlotte West changed my mind completely with a story that I couldn't move from until the very last page. So you really don't have to read Good Lies first, but you do want to read it after for sure! Hard Lessons has it all, perfectly placed humor that kept me laughing, emo ...more

My Review of Hard Lessons (Wild Minds, #2)
by Charlotte West
My Rating 3.5 Stars

After reading Good Lies the first book of The Wild Mind Series I was stoked to get to read Hard Lessons, Billy and Daisy’s story.
I did however feel a bit let down that it wasn’t as fulfilling as the first. Billy is and was a complete ass, and Daisy was sweet and sassy, but I felt that this book wasn’t as in depth as the first and therefore left me feeling a disconnect with the characters.
The story line is great and the

By god Charlotte what a great little tale this one is.
Hard Lessons sees Daisy Clemmens join rock star Billy on his band's tour as nanny to his 8yr old daughter Addy.  What follows is a fun, tongue in cheek, sexy read that will leave you with a smile on your dial.
Billy, to put it mildly, is a bit of a bastard. His prickish behaviour seems at first to be a bit hard to handle (and is...he doesn't change much) but once you get into the story you will certainly war

We meet Billy and Daisy in Good Lies and even though Billy came across as a crazy, overbearing brute there was something about him that I just had to love. You find out what that is in Hard Lessons. We see the story from Billy and Daisy's point of view and while it starts back way before Good Lies starts some of the book runs parallel and seeing the different POV is very interesting. This really helps you get a deeper understanding into the type of guy Billy is and he is so much more than meets ...more

Charlotte West writes romance about strong heroines and the sexy alpha males who love them. She lives in Washington state with her husband and very large dog (think miniature pony size). She spends way too much money on books, and way too much time reading. When she’s not reading, she’s feeding her reality television addiction, eating chocolate, or traveling. She's been known to eat her weight in ...more
