This is a cute first in a series! It’s not necessary to read the prequel series first, though there are mentions of the characters from that series. It seems like a lot of random characters who had cameos in this book may have been introduced in that series first, but I can’t be completely sure. (I only read the first in the previous series)
This is your typical light-hearted, second-chance romance. Killian is a reformed criminal, and he betrayed his “true mate” four months earlier when he stole a piece of art and she took the fall. I loved how he took responsibility for essentially ruining her life, though if I’d been her, I wouldn’t have forgiven him quite that easily! #I’mTooPetty
All in all, this a good romance with some fabulous worldbuilding.

Well Done Spinoff of the True Mates Series
I pre-ordered this book, but also had a chance to read an ARC.
I enjoyed the first book in the spinoff of the True Mates series. It was nice to see Meredith’s “siblings” again. I also enjoyed learning a bit more of her/their backstory.
I loved that Luna was smart and spunky while Killian was a bad boy with a heart. I enjoyed the connection of the main characters, Killian and Luna. I think that Luna was a bit too quick to forgive, but Killian was plenty self-tortured so that made up for it. I admit I wished they had taken the time to hash things out like adults sooner.
I loved Mrs. Tan and wished to see more of her in the story. I enjoyed the way she took care of Luna while maintaining her tough boss lady image.
The foreshadowing of the next couple of relationships was pretty obvious and funny. I’m looking forward to reading Quinn and Selena’s story next, then hopefully Connor and Evie’s.

Luna and Killian's story started in a bad way. With the fact that he used to do some shady jobs, when they met he was already up to no good. Add in some lies and months of separation and you get quite an awful situation. Of course there is lots of action, suspense, and super sexy moments. I have to say, I'm so glad Meredith is in this book, she's my fave character ever.
This is book one in a series that is a spin off of a previous series. You can totally read this as a stand alone, or it goes really well read right after her True Mates series. It flows very well and was an enjoyable story to me, with likeable characters (though at times their choices made me mad). It has a HEA and I can't wait to see what's next!

OMG! I loved reading about Killian and Luna. The storyline was amazing and the characters came to life.

Killian works at a security company and he is a wolf shifter. He needs an assistant to organize files and he immediately hires the first person he interviewed for the job. He was a master thief along until his foster father died and left them his inheritance. He thought that he had a real chance for a relationship with a woman but she walked away from him.
Luna had a nice job in a museum and a good apartment until she was fired. She left Boston to start a new life away She is currently works as a waitress in a Chinese restaurant where she makes end meet to survive.
Killian is shocked to see that Luna is standing inside of his office. He has not seen her for months when things did not go well between the two of them. Then, her sister reveals the reason why her wounds heal because of being a True Mate of Killian. He got angry so he left her and that's when he was offered a job in New York.
Luna despises how Killian lied to her about his identity. She hates how he wrecked her life by stealing at her workplace where she was sued in a civil suit that left her with little money. She is pregnant with his child but she does not want him back. As she walks towards her home, someone tries to kidnap her until a wolf attacks her kidnappers and manages to scare them away. Then, the wolf shifts back to his human form and she is surprised to see that it is him.
Killian wants to have a chance with Luna again so he could care for his mate. He knows that she does not know anything about Lycans since he did not explained anything about it. His wolf demands him that he should stay with his True Mate since she is pregnant with his baby. However, she disagrees with his opinion and she stays at his sister's home instead.
Luna learns that Lycans have problems producing a child. There is only one exception which they need to find a True Mate to produce a Lycan baby. Killian insists that she should move with him in his apartment but she wants to live on her own. However, her life is in danger as someone wants to harm her. Can she realize that they are better together? Will he finally lose his mate forever?
The story has a good shifter plot although there is some minor flaws such as character development. I love the strong bond between his friends and how they are willing to help each other out. The book is interesting to read and I love that Luna and Killian have a HEA ending as

It's summer time...the pool beckons...and with my Margarita in hand...Kindle tucked into my bag along with the ever present sunscreen, I relax into my Saturday and got a little reading done!
YES....YES!!! Never fear Killian is HERE! (Ok...I'll try and calm down now...breathe)
If you are a fan of Alicia Montgomery's True Mates Series and was sad when it ended with Tempted by the Wolf, it's ok...The Lone Wolf Defenders series has arrived!
(And if you have NOT read the True Mate Series...STOP get yourself over to Amazon.com and download it immediately! I believe you can get the whole series right now for less than $10 bucks! Seriously people...go read that!)

So why only 4 stars if I loved it so much...this is just me...but I have a love hate relationship when authors torture their main characters. You know the old...are they...or aren't they...or dragging out the I love you/I hate you/I want you/get away from me/no come back...thing for chapters and chapters...oh and maybe 1 more chapter!
So with that being said...I think that Killian needed to be tortured...just a little bit longer! Maybe...one more chapter longer. I realize with the old "fated mate" thing...they are a sure thing. I mean seriously I know...it a romance novel and of course they will end up together...but I think that Killian and Luna...especially after what Killian put Luna through...there needed to be a little more angst instead of Killian and Luna immediately in each others pants. But that's just me! So I gave 1/2 a star off for that. Not that there wasn't some angst...there was...it's just I would've wanted to put Killian through the ringer...juuuust...a bit...longer.
The other 1/2 a star off was because the story of the antagonist of the book, both of them. That needed to be dragged out a little longer too. It just felt that Luna's attempted kidnappings, Killian's actually kidnapping and all that went with it...resolved itself too soon...so 1/2 star off.
But that's it! That's why only 4 stars!
Also, I do have to say thank you Alicia for not going into pages and pages of exposition. I know it was probably very tempting to do that, so if anyone reading, didn't read the True Mate series, they would get what was going on. I thank you for not doing that...I hate exposition....absolutely hate it! But you did enough of it so that Luna, who is human, could understand what was going on...and of course giving it to Meredith to explain...was genius! I love Mer and her nonchalant, cavalier yet highly protective attitude got to do the explaining! Plus...just that fact that she calls Daric her 'baby-daddy' is awesome! (If you don't know what I'm talking about...seriously STOP go read the TRUE MATES series!!)
So if all you want to do this summer is sit by the pool, work on your tan and sip a Margarita while reading a fun para-romance with hot shifter wolves a dragon and a warlock, plus a lot of hot sex...you will freakin love Killian's Secret!

This series started with a bang! The story began with Killian the lone wolf lycan meeting Luna a human and worked as curator in a well established museum in Oregon. What started as a job for Killian to retrieve a tapestry from the museum he ended falling for Luna and his actions got her in a heap of trouble. This story is loaded with great action & sexy hot scenes, funny bantering dialogues between the characters, and a heartwarming HEA that a reader like me look for in a story. There are few paranormal writers out there that I follow and Alicia is one of them & her work are impressive.

If your looking for a series with love romance danger mystery and of course happy ever after this is fir you from the first True mate book to this spin-off you will be hooked. Killian is all brooding good looking man and Luna is smart head strong and beautiful. There's danger for Luna and Killian and the rest of the new York clan jump in to protect one of their own!! The characters are super funny charming and you will be wishing each one you meet has their own story!

Will their history be too much to get over?
Alicia Montgomery keeps the world of the New York Lycans alive with this spin off series. I love that we get to see sassy and unique Meredith throughout the book "helping" her brothers and their mates!
Killian and Luna are an unique pairing. They have history that makes moving forward difficult. Then add on that Luna's life is in danger by an unknown source... Can these two work through the past and the dangerous future so they can be together? Love their chemistry and how they work through everything!

A great start to a new series with old favorites tied in
I love catching up with the New York Clan and the True Mate world. Killian is one hot ,sexy and yummy Lycan. Luna is a sweet,strong and stubborn human. He broke her heart and cost her job,life and her happiness. She is keeping a secret from Killian. Killian will do whatever he can to win her back. It gets smoke in hot between these two. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

Lone wolf or hurting wolf !
I felt your pain as you outlined your story then put it together with mastery,and how you put it together,leading us around and around till you had us and hooked us again with a happy ever after, if you like wolves and magic and happy ending’s then read this book and all of Alicia’s other works as I have and still am to date as yet on to the next story. Alicia Montgomery is new to me but hopefully not any more. If I didn't already love shifter books, I would after this. It has it all romance, shifters, fighting, loving, with a few laughs to round it off. Killian and Luna, after a few good days, they had a few sticky months. Then they meet up again she's pregnant and angry, she'd gained a baby bump from him but lost everything else..........

Killian is the first adopted son of his family and has always considered himself responsible for them. Raised by a master thief he became one himself. Luna is the assistant curator of Portland Museum and the ideal way for him to get what he wants however he can’t fight the feelings that she awakes in him. Will they be able to overcome all the hurt and betrayal and find their happiness? First book of the spinoff series from the True Mates series

This was fantastic! I loved seeing the characters again from the True Mates series. Killian and Luna have quite a bit of turmoil to get through from their very rocky past to some trouble with rogue wolves. Killian has to learn to not be so bossy. It's not really in his nature. I love the fact that we got to see Meredith again. She is just too funny. Can't wait for the next one!

First book in this series but also the first book I have read by this Author and I can tell you she is going into my favorites list . This book kept you on the edge wanting to know who was after Luna and if Killian would find out in time to keep her safe. I can not wait until the next one is out. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

I had no idea this was a spinoff when i started it, if i had known that I would have read other series before this one. Started off slow for me but soon picked up. Lone wolves doing shady jobs,human not knowing man she's involved with is a shifter and thief. A good storyline,some mystery as to why someone wants to kidnap Killian's mate,some hot moments,and a nice HEA.

I was gifted this book.
Editing needs another pass, such as a year of exhibition, then a month (that sort of thing). Lots of suspense and mystery, great sequel to the True Mates series. I started reading the first book in True Mates Standalone (A Mate for Jackson) and had to come back to this one to get the chronology right. Plenty of action and more fun with Meredith and Daric. The other True Mates are already lined-up and I love it when authors do that. We get the whole background of Luna and Killian's lives, which explains a lot too, all thanks to Quinn's magic fingers.

Another great book
Killian's Secret is a spin-off of Alicia Montgomery's True Mates series. Fantastic beginning to this new series. This book has mystery, romance & great characters. If you like shifter romance then I would recommend this book.

Worth the while to read.
Great start and interesting traveling between time periods to create the drama. Lots of hints on other characters I expected there will be stand alone HEA for those as well. Great read, thanks.

Lots of babies
Pregnancy hormones, male testosterone and family drama give this story it's humor. The attacks, attempted kidnappings and fights give us the drama. Crossover characters add dimension to the story and it's great to hear from them again.

I never would have guessed that's what the secret was. I'm glad he got his happily ever after, he certainly deserved it. I thought for sure the threat was coming from her dad's people.

Very much enjoyed the twists and am so glad the finally work thier stuff out. Although not dependent on the previous series it was clear there was history there and so I'm looping back to the first series.

As usual Alicia Montgomery did a wonderful job of writing, plus I like that she kept to the New York Clan plus the True Mates. Which is my all time favorite series so far.

Killian and Evie love story is so fun. With his sister and friends helping their love story along to a HEA ending. His ways of taking care of her without her knowledge leads to fun that she doesn't figure out on her own.

I enjoyed the plot of the story, really the whole lone wolf series idea. I like the characters. I just get tired of the many descriptions of Lyman sex. More plot less erotica. Just MHO.

I'm hook on this series! I really enjoying the story and the characters! Its a little different from most Lycan books as far as her take on shifter's. But it works! True Mates pairings are very interesting! Killian's story was great to discover!
