Lord, not sure how to categorize this. I read this intending to laugh my butt off at the ridiculousness, and while there was plenty of that, there was also a lot of optimism and heartfelt intentions on the part of the author and his followers/friends in helping autistic and depressed people. On one hand, I had to scoff at their assuming dolphins have magical powers, but on the other, the author was repeatedly adamant about such peak dolphin healing experiences never take place with dolphins in captivity, since keeping them as such is wrong (he tries repeatedly to replicate such healing experiences synthetically, with music and special effects). I think the "healing" people feel with dolphins has everything to do with the families, therapists, and friends enabling them to swim with dolphins in the wild, and not with the dolphins themselves. At any rate, I had a blast reading this bit of cheerful fluff on a Christmas day.

During Soviet times, secret military programs were conducted in Sevastopol to use dolphins to detect ships and submarines. After the independence of Ukraine, military dolphins were involved in dolphin therapy for children with diseases of the nervous system. The head of the program, Dr. Lukina, told me that dolphin therapy is possible only in open sea pools. In closed - dolphins do not use healing signals due to signal reflections from the pool's walls. Dr. Dobbs humanely solved this problem. He suggested using state-of-the-art virtual technology and recorded dolphin healing signals. I am grateful to Dr. Dobbs for the joy brought to me by his pioneering book! The author discovers the most critical moment for me - this is the feeling of happiness of a dolphin being, which is so lacking in a modern urbanized person.

Taking into consideration the evident evolutionary orientation towards the cephalization of species and the regular character of the latter, we may consider man and dolphin as different forms of the higher evolutionary essence split biologically due to the separation of the planet’s surface into land and water. The necessity of human-dolphin interspecies cooperation is understood as the regular stage in integrating the Noosphere superconsciousness. Therefore, the IDW founded by Dr. Dobbs is the leader in solving this civilizational problem!
