3.5* Cute, Sweet and Funny

Cruz Zaffino has served ten years for a crime he didn't commit and now he's out he wants a fresh start. One dart thrown at a map later and Cruz finds himself in Sundown, Illinois.

Rosie has lived in Sundown all her life, she knows everyone and everyone knows her and there's no such thing as secrets in such a small town.

Cruz walks up to the bar where Rosie is working and the attraction is instant, he may not have come to town looking for a woman but Rosie is hard to resis

Without a doubt, Cruz Zaffino was a very bad boy, but ten years in prison for the trigger he never pulled couldn’t be erased when his conviction was overturned and the new life he wanted to make wouldn’t be easy. All he wanted was to be left alone, to blend into the small town he ran to for his life do-over. He had no idea he would find more than he could ever deserve, a feisty ray of sunshine in cowboy boots.

Her small town gossip mill knows all of Rosie’s darkest mistakes, all but one and she h

What a great start to the series. This was so good. It had everything that kept my heart beating. Well balanced angst, downright filthy with a side dish of sweet.

Cruz threw a dart on a whim to start a new life and landed in Sundown, Illinois. Population 782. A quaint town where everyone knows everyone.

He got a job, rented a house and could leave any time with no regrets. Just to start afresh. Trying to deal with ten years of

I very much love Ms. Kay's Paranormal Romance series, Solsti Prophecy and the spin-off Watcher's Kiss and so when I won a copy of Record of Wrongs I decided to give her Contemporary Romance a try. For those that know me not many CR's win me over. It's a hard sell for me.

I started reading and just couldn't get into the story or characters. Cruz's description made him sound sexy; especially with his tattoos. I love tattoos on my heroes, but I wan't feeling anything for him. Rosie I couldn't get a

Cruz was in the wrong place and had a record. After 10 years in jail, he gets out and heads away from Chicago for a fresh start. He meets Rosie, and the rest is history. His past comes back, but true love conquers all. I look forward to her brother's HEA.

Snore fest!

I liked the premise of the story. It kept me reading at first, then it bogged down like no tomorrow. I got to the point where I was like "Is it ever going to get interesting?"

It took up to 70% till they actually got together and then it was like every other page. The action happened the last 10%.

The writing was good, but the story was just boring.

Received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

So this was my first foray into the works of Sharon Kay and I was hooked from the start. I adored both Rosie and Cruz, separately and together. Rosie might be the small town country girl, but she doesn't let that define her and she's smart enough to not be so narrow-minded when it comes to others. At the young of 26, she's already been through two traumatic events in her life, but she doesn't let those events keep her from living her life, even if one of those events has irrevocably changed her ...more

I have to be quite honest with you … “sweet country romance” is not really my “thing” … I am more the “Broken and tortured bad boy romance” kind of girl.
So when I came across this book blurb I was wondering how the author would manage to close the gap between those two genre’s.
Because lets be blunt – those two do not really work together.. right ?

Well wrong actually. I am not quite sure how she did it but the leading lady was written in a way that managed to close the gap. She was everything t

3.5 stars, but bumping it up, because Cruz!!!!

I don't think there's anything I enjoy more than a bad boy with a heart of gold! Cruz is a former wannabe gang member, who is wrongly accused of murder and spends 10 years before the witness tying him to the murder recants. Fresh out of jail, he throws a dart and lands in Redemption County, where he meets his sweet little Country Barbie, named Rosie!! Rosie too has her own little secret

A contemporary romance to swoon over:)

I consider myself a PNR girl and I'm addicted to the world and character's that Sharon Kay has created in her Solsti Prophecy and Watcher's Kiss series. So when I saw that she wrote a contemporary romance I was very intrigued to see if it would have the same effect her PNR books do. And does it ever!

Cruz Zaffino has served 10 years in prison for a murder he didn't commit and upon his release he heads to the middle of nowhere (Sundown, Illinois) to try and st

Loved this book! It was just what I needed to read last night and I would not have changed anything about it! I am eager to read more in the series and also find out how Cruz and Rosie are doing when her brother, Shane, has his story told next!

Cruz Zaffino is an innocent man who went to prison for ten years before the “witness” recanted. With the desire to move forward and create a new life for himself – a positive one – he ends up in Sundown,

Great beginning to a new series.

Cruz Ziffino has finally been released from a 10 year stint in prison for a crime he didn't commit. Unwilling to waste his time on anger and regret for the years he was incarcerated, Cruz decides a fresh start is needed and with the help of fate or destiny he leaves the gang ridden streets of Chicago for the country life in Redemption County where he meets the sweet, yet sassy Rosie

It was cute...predictable and slow, but cute.

Rosie's back story with the accident was very predictable; there was obviously more than what she originally told everyone about the accident and when the truth finally comes out it's really no big surprise.

The fact that Cruz's past caught up to him again was very predictable. You knew from the beginning that it was only a matter of time before the "gang" part of his past came knocking on his door. Especially given that he didn't go very far from his

Rosie & Cruz really compliment each other well. Each bringing something to the other that they really need, even if they don't know it.

And the secondary characters, loved them. Especially that smart as hell K-9, Denver. He stole my heart.

I feel like I've been in a reading slump for a really long time, and I think (I hope) this has pulled me out of it. I really could not put this down.

I read book 2 before book 1 but it didn't dampen my enthusiasm by reading out of order!

Cruz Zaffino is finally a free man. He was sent to jail when a gang initiation went wrong and he was the one blamed for the murder. Cruz family finally found a lawyer willing to go for bat to him and he decides he needs a fresh start. His way of picking his new town is fairly random!

He finds his way to Redemption County and has a job working on a construction crew. Knocking back a beverage at a local bar one n

This book started off so sweet that I was a little thrown off balance (in a good way) when things heated up. The attraction was immediate between the hero and heroine, but they took time to get to know each other a little. I liked that.
After being unjustly imprisoned for 10 years, Cruz was sweeter than I anticipated he’d be. He had his moments of a tough guy who knew how to take care of his own, but for the most part he was a kind. He’d learned his lessons in jail and I liked that he’d grown fr

Great story!

This was a great story with wonderful characters. Cruz and Rosie seem to be made for each other the moment they meet. Cruz is recently released from prison for a crime he did not commit, and struggles with his past. Rosie has secrets of her own, but together they are able to help each other heal. I really enjoy stories where the main characters have good communication and very little angst. After reading the preview of the second book I am looking forward to Shane and Becca’s story.

When I was asked if I wanted to read this book, I said yes after reading the synopsis because it sounded good, I’m very pleased to say that the book lived up to the hype, it’s a lovely story. The chapters are short and sweet, which personally I like, when I needed to stop, I could finish a chapter, go feed the family and then dive right back in again.  I understand this is Sharon Kay’s first book in the contemporary romance genre and I hope it isn’t her last. I loved it.

This was a book that totally surprised me. I’ve read “hero just got out of prison” romances before, and honestly, there’s very few that I enjoyed. They're usually just too angsty for me. (I’m old and grumpy, folks. Angsty just doesn’t work for grumpy old-timers like me.) But this book was surprisingly low angst, and I really enjoyed it!

What I loved most about Cruz’s relationship with Rosie was that it was so honest. They didn’t k

Record of Wongs is the first book in the exciting new Redemption County series by bestselling author Sharon Kay. A highly entertaining, emotionally captivating romance that will steal your heart! I first started reading Sharon Kay's books when she came out with the Solsti Prophecy series, and then continued on with her Watcher's Kiss series. She does an amazing job of paranormal romance. But some authors just stick with the genre they are good in. I'm really glad that Sharon Kay stepped out of her comfort zone because it proves that she's really a writer, not just a paranormal romance writer. And she is an awesome writer.

I'm officially in love with Cruz Zaffino. Cruz is a bad boy from the streets of Chicago jailed for a decade for a murder he did not commit.
