Drawing upon her own experiences, she has created an engaging series of books that are just right for children on the brink of major changes and the caregi

This is a perfect for book for kids who are about to transition from crib to bed, and the anxiety the surrounds this milestone in their young lives. A young boy recalls how much he slept as a baby, and able to sleep a lot and anywhere - crib, car seat, floor, stroller. But now that he isn't a baby anymore, he sleeps in a big kid bed. At first, it took some getting used. There were bedtime stories, kisses and hugs from mom and dad, then snuggling in with his lovey. But what happens when he wakes ...more

I like the idea of this series. It celebrates milestones in children’s lives. This book celebrates moving from a crib to a big bed. I remember my first big bed –it was a racecar and it was awesome, but I digress. Some of these milestones can be frightening for kids, having a “big bed” without the security of sides is a difficult transition. The little boy is afraid his stuffed toy will fall out and has to work through his fear. I like how the illustrations show the physical growth of the boy th ...more

Moving from a crib to a big bed can be a big step for a toddler. Here's the perfect picture book to help with that transition. Bold line drawings against a brown, blue and white color palate invite the reader into this wonderful story of becoming a big kid in a big bed. I Sleep in a Big Bed by Maria van Leishout is perfect to read over and over again to the toddler crowd at bedtime. This is one in a series of books titled Big Kid Power. For ages 2 -5. ...more

I really like this series for helping kids with transitions to growing up. This one covers how a bed is different than a crib. I don't know if all kids will understand what a "lovey" is (I guess all kids have different terms for teddies/stuffed animals), but other than that it's simple and cute. ...more

It is great to see a book about this milestone. We as parents make such a big deal about the move up to a "big bed" and can forget that such a change can be scary for young children. I also love that the main character is an actual child and not some cutsie animal. ...more

Great book about transitioning from a crib to a big bed that encourages kids to STAY IN BED if they wake up in the middle of the night. Love the use of limited colors (blue, brown, black, and white) in the illustrations.

Not my favorite—a little plain. Not Bug’s favorite, either, but she still seems to enjoy it.
