I really enjoyed reading this book, I think it has the qualities to become a modern classic. It starts as a comedy, but you will soon feel the melancholy of the main character, Cam, his detachment from his surroundings, even before he is forced to abandon his life and start his bizarre journey into the unknown. The book is deep, ironic and very entertaining, its characters stayed with me long after I finished reading it.

I love stories that are unpredictable. What started off as a fun and carefree time in Las Vegas suddenly took a dramatic turn that transformed one man's entire life, leading to his quest of self discovery. As the story unfolds, readers too are led on a path of self reflection as the author constructs his plot around ideas and thought patterns that brings the reader to question learned 'truths', beliefs and teachings... at least this is the path my mind was led on. Buan Boonaca's book really ...more

Recommends it for: Anyone over 18
This story begins with a couple of young guys looking for sex and materialism to fill any void they may have inside. Only, something goes horribly wrong! This pushes the main character to the brink of insanity, transforming him initially into something he previously loathed. As an older female reader, the story was a little wearing on me at first with the guys' rants about "chicks" and such, but picked up considerable interest with all the twists and turns it takes. Soon, I could not put it ...more

Tattoos accumulating on a body can represent many things: demons conjuring a tormented soul, burden of memories or dreams that sticks permanently or the thing that most of us can relate to, i.e. a deviating personality either hypocritic to adapt in our society or savage to act as a rebellion against it, and in that one is never the same person one used to be.

This guy from Orange County has unquestionably got some minerals, as of how this book captures our modern culture. I really love books that

This book kept jumping between 2 and 3 stars, interesting idea, tattoos keep appearing on the main character, Cam's body, new one each morning it seems. The characters are dull, very shallow and nobody for the reader to like, this may have been intentional as the ending cleverly highlights their shallowness, unfortunately it makes reading the book a bit tough.

I liked the spiritual side of the story but huge chunks of the book could have been cut out to stop it feel like it was dragging,

Baun Boonaca's Accululation finds itself on Goodreads lists such as Best Dark Humor, Best Quirky Dark Novels, and Best Books You've Never Heard Of. That alone had my attention and from page one, this novel was unparalleled in cleverness and provocative all around. In the beginning, Accumulation comes off as a comedy. Cam's character plays sophomoric nearing simpleton, standing on the precipice of growing up and leaning toward not doing so. It's right at the point when you accept that vibe and ...more

Quick link:

If there's anything I would give to this book, it's the author's powerful way with words. With it, he fancifully expresses his thoughts, adding a great deal of humour to the mix.

The story follows Cam's life as it takes a drastic turn into the unexpected and almost unexplainable direction, all because of one measly tattoo. It doubled without warning and made Cam an object of scrutiny. This frustrating experience forces Cam to see life in a

Accumulation read like a movie in my head with cinematography by Sven Nykvist. I was in Las Vegas, walking down those brightly lit streets in the dry desert heat dodging porno flyers thrust at me. Each time Cam changed his location, I was with him, seeing what he saw, feeling what he felt. The deeper I got into the book, the more I started to wonder: was I reading science fiction or self-help? Cam starts off with a teenage ego and grows from there. At first, I couldn’t identify with him, but I ...more

Accumulation in the story of how the main character, Cam, went off for a stay in Las Vegas with his best friend and, after winning a jackpot, gets his first tattoo to celebrate. Only this tattoo is the start of something Cam could never even dream of: soon, new tattoos start showing up on his body and he can’t do anything about it. He loses everything dear to him and has to accept his new fate.

Finally, a story that is new and imaginative! I’ve never read another one like it. Thank you Buan for

Although "Accumulation" has a protagonist, Cam, who initially seems to be the typical macho, the novel is incredibly entertaining and unpredictable. The fantasy plot point that the novel gives is genius, since from the first words of the book, this is presented as a realistic reading, however, the importance of the Cam tattoo and everything that develops from this is extremely great in addition to the excellent pace that the book has and that will make you read it in one sitting.

Buan Boonaca has created an awesomely funny, creative, and unique story with Accumulation, a Twilight Zone-esque spin on the trope of getting tattoos you regret, or can't remember getting.

Boonaca’s style is downright literary with his well formed characters and witty reflection of life. You’ll be realizing how comically apt and true many of his observations are as you read this thought provoking narrative of character exploration.

It's often hard to find good quality fiction on Amazon that also

What’s real? What’s Imagined? Who knows?

Accumulation is by far one of the most interesting books I have read lately! The book follows Cam as he and a friend visit Las Vegas and party it up for the weekend after he hits a jackpot at the casino. Cam ends up getting a tattoo to remember the weekend and heads home. Once Cam gets home he starts accumulating tattoos… not in the normal way but they just start appearing all over his body. From little splotches to symbols and illegible words, Cam has no

Imagine this: you and your friend decide to go to Vegas. It is not just any Vegas. It is Las Vegas; a city where “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas’’ rules apply. Money is no problem, neither for you or your friend. After all, you came here to make the best out of it, to have fun and to squeeze as much as possible from that word. However, just as you thought that this brand new cool tattoo would look awesome on you, something starts happening. Something is starting to change. It is not just ...more

"Under all that hair and ink, you're still just a boy."
I loved the idea behind this story. It was so unique and different from any other book I have read. From the start of it, it just pulled me in. Cam is the type of protagonist we love to hate, with his toxic masculinity and crude behavior, without many redeeming qualities. I was really intrigued by the mystery, but honestly didn't care about Cam. He went from incredibly shallow to incredibly deep in a way that didn't suit his character to me.

I am writing this after just finished reading this, and I have a lot going on in my head...

First and foremost, I do not understand why there had to be really bad analogies. I thought we were past the time of calling someone "fat" in a really mean way or saying someone is "obviously homosexual" (see page 40). It really bothered me because I'm not the type of person who would say that. It's mean. I don't dig it. Of course, people could say, "Oh, it was just once. Simple. Let it go." As we live in

Wow this novel was truly amazing! This is so well-written and thought out. This story is told by Buan Boonaca. Who has a wonderful way with words that make the story flow so wonderfully.
This book is a bit of a horror story focused on Cam and his one night in Vegas. Cam goes out with his friend in Vegas and is having fun. Cam hits the jackpot on a machine that is somewhat hidden in the corner away from almost everyone. He takes his winnings and hits the town with his best friend and a couple of

This is a really interesting story. I had never quite heard of anything like it before. Cam, the main character, gets a tattoo. Slowly, his body is taken over with tattoos. They just keep appearing. It's sort of horror esque but not quite, but it does have a spooky vibe to it. I mean if I woke up with more and more tattoos every day, I'd be freaked out. The idea is so unique it's worth a read just for that. I dropped a star because I feel like it didn't fully 100% come together. I still had ...more

A surprise and delight! This book took me completely by surprise. I had b=never heard of the author and the description seemed intriguing so I decided to give it a whirl. I'm glad I did. Cam is the main character and he is a less than desirable man looking for women, money, and "stuff" to fill the void in his life and claim some sort of status in keeping up with the Jonses. A tattoo to commemorate a wild trip to Vegas takes a wrong turn - and the reader is thrust into more a plot full of ...more

Accumulation by Buan Boonaca takes you through the life of Cam who after winning the jackpot in Vegas decides to get his first tattoo. After he wakes up each day after receiving his first tattoo, he ends up with another, and he cannot figure out why. I found that the pace set in Accumulation was easy to follow and I quite enjoyed the way the book played out. When I come across a ...more

This was an interesting and easy kept me turning the page to uncover the answers to the many events happening to the main character. The premise was good and the writing was well done. There were a few situations that arose that made me flip back a few pages to see if I missed something, because strange happenings seemed to come out of nowhere. My only real complaint is the answers I sought never surfaced and I was left, literally, scratching my head as I let my imagination take over, ...more

Weird genre combo - This story is about an extremely vain guy who is forced to change every exterior thing he loves about himself, and learn what it's like to be on the other end of the popularity scale. He goes from making fun of others to being one of those who is shunned, stared at and ridiculed.

It was an interesting journey that was both a comment on current society and a spiritual revelation.

This book isn't horror in a sense of scary things coming after you. It's more a personal horror,

I have to say if you are into the sci-fi/fantasy then I'm sure you are going to love this book. This is not normally my genre to read but I couldn't put it down. I HAD to find out just exactly what was going on with this kid! Would I recommend you buy it, yes of course!! Thank you Buan!

Yet another example of a five star book with a three star ending. I see more of these all the time (Landscape with Invisible Hand, The Tree Museum, Ovenman, Glimpses). This book lost its way. This author lost his way. This character certainly lost his way.

If you were able to live the life of leisure without financial worries, how would you spend your days and evenings? Read “Accumulation” by Buan Boonanca to find out how one young man lives.

After winning a substantial amount of money, Cam feels he’s got it made and enjoys life to the max. After his first tattoo, he wakes up every day with another one, which he doesn’t remember getting done.

I strongly recommend this book from mysterious author Buan Boonaca.
The story starts off seemingly innocent with a crazy night in Las Vegas, but this night out with a friend is the beginning of the main character’s thrilling metamorphosis. A mysterious power starts to take control of Cam’s body and behavior. This book is nothing like you expect. It’s a story that will give you a shiver, but then will warm you up with a big dose of dark humor. My favorite character is the unforgettable Ras, who

Buan Boonanca always had the craving to see the world outside of the bubble of the Orange County, CA ghetto where he was raised. Drawn to the spirituality of the Native peoples of America, he moved to Northern Arizona to live among the tribes which inhabit the area. Before long, the hedonistic sands of Las Vegas seduced him and lured him away from his peaceful life. The years of materialistic ...more
