“No eligible bachelor wants to marry a bluestocking…especially not those frightful Chadwick girls.” – Lady Jersey, Almacks Patroness.

Amelia’s writing was often prone to getting her into trouble. Hence why she eventually took on a penname. But it seems, once again, her unthinking need to spill out everything onto paper will land her in hot water.

DNF. Thankfully I got this through Kindle Unlimited and didn't pay for it. It has such high ratings, and so I wanted to persevere, but I just couldn't. It was SO over-the-top.

I was excited because hello!!!!—the whole series is about bluestockings (my favorite kind of heroines). But almost from the beginning, I became quite weary, because the girls seemed quite immature. The back and forth between them was silly and light to the point of airheadedness, and that kind of continued. And it wasn't a

' Amelia and the Viscount' by Samantha Holt. This starts the new series "Bluestocking Brides". This is the story of Nicholas and Amelia. This book is a Novella with almost 100 pages.
Amelia and her sisters are what the Town call Bluestocking and different. They are not popular at all. When their sister married a Scotsman that added to their notoriety. Amelia is a writer who has taken to writing about her love of Nicholas . Nicholas is in love with her sister Lavinia who is now married. When some

The story is about 5 sisters. Four of them are singles, Amelia (The protagonist) who is the more serious and sensible of the sisters, Julia who is more devious, Catherine the delightful one, Emma the annoying one and Lavinia who is married and living somewhere else. Amelia is a secret writer who writes scandalous love stories. Amelia is in love with Nicholas, a viscount who used to love her sister Lavinia. Will the viscount love her too? You need to read to know that.

The story is

Sweet

This was short and charming. There was not much in character development and i wanted to learn more about Nicholas. Amelia's character was more fleshed out and she was just so lovely.

Mama has 5 daughters: Amelia,Lavinia (who's already married) Emma, Julia and Catherine

I love historical romance with "peculiar" characters. I like the bond between sisters and that each of them has a role in the family or a passion that endears them to me.

Even if there are not a lot of pages, everything is concise and I enjoyed the story as much as if it contained more pages.

We understand that Amelia has been in love with Nicholas for a very long time. When Nicholas finally gets it, we

This last book I read of Samantha Holt was my last one, so I said. It used to be that all her heroines were beautiful, and that was good for me because I deal with ugly and fat women every day so I don’t want them to be in my reading material, (I know I'm showing, once again, how shallow I'am) but I decided to try another of her novellas again. And I will read about the other 3 sisters.

This was a really cute love story about Amelia who loved Nicholas, all the while convinced that he loved her

I'm on the fence here between a 3 and a 4 as I did enjoy the story overall - up until that proposal....
Who the hell... (view spoiler) Ick.... no! Badly done, Nicholas!

I didn't mind the sisters silliness or their mother's snobbery or Nicholas' being kind of a dick to his butler, but that.... that kind of ruined

This was a sweet and short story. Amelia and her sisters are all a little too clever and forward thinking for the ton of way back when. To make matters worse Amelia writes books that are quite scandalous. She's only had love for one man. But he had eyes for her little sister until she married someone else. Now he chases a pen doing the paperwork for his estate. Occasionally he gets outside to chase thrills. He wants someone who can match his fire and desire for the thrill.
I liked this story. I

Nicely narrated by Stevie Zimmerman. This short story was the perfect easy listen for a Saturday afternoon.
I would have preferred a longer, more developed cast and storyline but I still very much enjoyed this cute story of Amelia and her Viscount. The characters were very likeable especially Nicholas who seemed to be very understanding and easy going despite his reputation of being wild. The sisters were charming and I am looking forward to reading more and finding what other mayhem they can

Amelia is smart, loyal and true to herself regardless of a mother who does encourage individuality. It was fun reading about her secret life as a scandalous writer under a pen name. Her idea to get over Lord Nicholas by writing him letters that were never meant to be mailed. But it was good that he came to his senses before it was too late. A quick fun read.
I voluntarily received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.

Cute story, but short and there was a lot of focus on Amelia's sisters and as not much on the romance or the h/H's character development. It was 'insta-love' for the hero. This was a fun book to read however and passed the time nicely. I will be reading the next book in the series. Also there were a few grammar errors that could have been picked up with another go-over by the publisher

Amelia and the Viscount is a charming, rather delightful lighthearted romance between one young woman who has loved a man for far too long. And one man who is coming to realize that his idea of being in love doesn’t quite equal the reality of this woman.

Amelia’s sisters are quite a lively bunch, each a completely different personality. It will be enjoyable watching them each find matches that fit their personalities. Amelia is determined to get over being in love

I just love to read any books by Ms. Samantha Holt and when I noticed this new story with a beautiful cover I jumped at the chance to read it. Ms. Holt just knows how to tell a well crafted romantic sweet story no matter the length and some amazing characters you can’t help but love. Sure I wanted a longer story since the family and minor characters are so endearing plus I wanted more into their family life still there is more to come and another upcoming in the series.

I just finished reading Amelia and the Viscount (book 1 in the Bluestocking Brides series), by Samantha Holt.

This was such a refreshing read.
It was fun, it was sweet, it was absolutely delightful.

The Chadwick girls are girls after my own heart - carefree, fun, independent girls that I could see myself being friends with.

These redheaded wildlings are used to the glances the “Ton” casts their way but it doesn’t seem to bother them too much.

Although, as the oldest sister, Amelia sometimes worries

It started out as promising...but ended up meh.
I like the initial premise: an unrequited love and secret love letters.
Of course, as historical romance, this book has tons of inaccuracies - like things that I think should not be done in that era - but somehow I managed to keep on reading, even while realizing that (I admit that the fact that it is a short novel helps a lot. If this were a full-length novel I might DNF this). The author is quite good in describing the family situation and how

Amelia and the Viscount by Samantha Holt is a perfect 5 star period novel! The whole time I was reading I felt like it was Pride and Prejudice all over again, save for some distinguishing differences, and a steamy scene or two.

Amelia is a writer, and for her time she has to use a pen name as to not bring any unwanted attention to her family. The town she lives in already thinks her and all her sisters are silly. Her passion is writing, and was Nicholas. Nick had recently gotten together with one
