According to the front-page photo in the (New York) Daily News, my father was "Murdered Gangland Style." I was three years old.

The assassination was most likely ordered by a mob insurance broker in order to collect on a large life insurance policy that my father provided as collateral for a business loan. After my father’s death, my distraught mother began a downward spir

I just could not get past the fact one of the characters was named Ponzio Provolone. Talk about cheesy! (Yes, that was a horrible pun, but it's true.)

I don't normally read time travel novels but I thought the premise for this one sounded interesting. Billy Volante's father was murdered in the 1960s when Billy was a small child. Now in his fifties, Billy discovers that leaning on a tree in his backyard allows him to time travel to the past, a few years before his father was killed. With

Front page: New York Daily News, Johnny Volante (husband/ Billy’s father) was "Murdered Gangland Style."
Billy Volante (17, son) didn’t know girls existed until he met Betty Jo.
Billy joined the USAF.
Billy (27, architect) moved to Clinton to work for an architect firm.
Herman Goldman’s body had been cut into pieces.
Some of the pieces were put on his family members front steps.
Goldman & goons had taken Carrie Anne from the Fiesta Siesta & no one saw them/her.

What did Billy confront Jeannine Vol

I normally never give out five-star reviews unless a book is a classic but, in this case, I decided to make an exception. Not only because this book is the best time travel book I've read, thanks to a great autobiographical plot and character development, I also have empathy for its author, John Vocale. Before deciding to review the book, I read an incredulous review stating that the reader disliked the book because he disliked biographies, a secondary genre clearly obvious in the description. I ...more

One of the best time travel books I've ever read! John Vocale had me trying to figure out what the end result of the story would be down to the very end of the book and I was still wrong! No spoiler alert here, y'all! If you want to be entertained, get angry, laugh, cry, feel every range of emotion possible and still find out you actually believe in love and family, this book is definitely for you!

A rollicking tale

Thought-provoking tale of “what if”. Not exactly a fantasy nor science fiction and definitely not fact. The frequent editing errors kept this entertaining story from a better review. William’s monologue in the epilogue might be the best part of this book.

Just Wonderful!

What a wonderful writer Mr. Vocale is!!!! Totally inventive, sucked me right in ( I got nothing done around the house!). It reminded me of Charles Dickinson,'s "A Shortcut in Time." I could not have enjoyed this book more!

Thrilling time travel adventure into the early 1960’s. A humorous,
yet dangerous scenario where an older son must team with his younger father to battle mafia goons. Very enjoyable read.

I don;t usually like time travel genre, but this one was pretty good. I laughed quite a lot. Some of the characters were really quite funny.

I'm not sure if A Tale of Two Times is meant to be inspired by someone's actual life or not. Regardless, the more I look at this synopsis the more I feel like it's really just not for me. It is, however, rather impressive that it's garnered very few negative reviews thus far. It doesn't look like, at this time, I'll be adding my thoughts on the book to the pile and am now moving it to my lost interest shelf.
