Man, has this book been a game changer. It's not long at all, kind of unassuming. The first third of the book (literally, 33% on my Kindle) lays the foundation of prayer for your husband and how to go about it. The last two-thirds are specific prayers for different areas of his life and your life together, with room for making it "yours". For those familiar with it, this second part is a little like the Book of Common Prayer in having some prayers written out for you and then space/guidance for you to pray your own.
At the author’s recommendation, I have a journal for my prayers for my husband/us. I find I am praying more often, more specifically, and that my prayers are more rooted in scripture. This is a serious win.
Small heads-up: My only concern as I read this book was an unusual interpretation of 1 Peter 3:7, which says, “You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.” The author noted that the word “your” at the end is plural in the Greek, and since it is plural that it means that both a husband’s AND wife’s prayers may be hindered if he is not conducting himself rightly in the marriage. I disagree; I believe it is plural because Peter is addressing “husbands” here - more than one. So he tells them to treat their wives well so that “y’all’s prayers will not be hindered.” 😉
This is still a five-star book. I’ve been reading it for months now because it’s become a wonderful reference for me to “jump start” a prayer on any given situation he or we may be facing. I’m grateful for it and recommend it to anyone wanting to cover their husband in prayer.
