A terrorist attack disables a US Navy submarine in dangerously deep waters off the coast of Florida. The Navy is compelled to use its least-favorite strategy to complete a rescue of the submarine crew: send divers to extreme depths. Can a team of the Navy's best ultra-deep divers perform this mission? When things go perilously wrong, can a novel approach in diving physiolo ...more

I won this book in a goodreads drawing.

A beautiful scientist is experimenting with tablets that will allow divers to stay longer underwater without getting the bends. Then a submarine needs rescuing in deep water, and she is drafted to help in the rescue. There's a lot of unnecessary yelling, and a guy who tries to undermine her for no good reason.

Not too bad. Probably more realistic than many similar books.

Submarine deep sea “black ops” can be risky business even when everything goes well. But when things go badly, submariners’ lives are in peril, and everyone is praying for a miracle, and a savior. This well written novel drops you into the middle of such a desperate situation, and the potential savior, or potential scapegoat, is an unexpected protagonist, a female civilian scientist who knows the Navy way, knows how to motivate Navy divers, and unconsciously toys with their affections. This is a ...more

This was a GoodReads giveaway of a Kindle Edition book.

I was caught off guard by the different directions this book was pulling me. The author is very knowledgeable about the world of deep sea diving (to the point of showing off too much and becoming boring), but the elements of romance sprinkled in the story did not seem to fit into the tale (nor were they that well executed). But I am not a big romance novel person. And I was not a big fan of the ending. Not enough justice. (And why was that e

This was an interesting book about a fictional rescue mission of a submarine that involved ultra-deep sea diving. It covered the issues involved in diving at great depths and the experiments being done by the navy. The characters kept me interested to find out what happened in the end.
