Wedding planning, stalkers, ghosts and murder, oh my!

The 7th book in this series and it is so much fun! Combine, ghosts, murder and a stalker with some humor and you have an enjoyable read you can't put down. Mandy and Rick are getting married and Mandy is busy planning her wedding when she gets a frantic visit from one of her bridesmaids. Mandy has the ability to see and communicate with ghosts and even has her own once live best friend Jackie, now a ghost attached to her. So Fiona thinks Mandy can help her with her problem. Fiona inherits her grandparent's estate and with her husband Leo wants to open a B&B. Upon going through the huge storage building, she comes upon some 8mm movies and at the same time the ghost of her grandmother appears to her. Her grandmother gives her a cryptic warning to be careful because her life is in danger but couldn't give her more information. Is her stalker after her? Who would want to kill her? So she ends up begging Mandy and Rick to help her figure all of it out. Together with their exorcist friend and paranormal tour guide, Brian Mandy, Rick and ghost, Jackie come to the estate to find some answers. Brian, brings a paranormal tour with him to the estate so they have a pretext for being there and don't send bad messages to people who might want to visit her B&B when she sets it up. With lots of humor and page turning mystery Lotta Smith guides us to a very unexpected solution. There are a lot of twists and turns that keep you going! I can't wait to see what the next adventure brings to Mandy, Rick, Jackie, Fiona and Brian! I received and ARC from the author but the opinions expressed here are stricly my own.

This is book # 7 in Paranormal in Manhattan

The author weaves together the past with the

While visiting the old family estate, Kimmelstiel Manor, Fiona sees a ghost. The ghost is her grandmother, Beverly, who warns Fiona that she is in grave danger.

Amanda "Mandy" Meyer and Rick Rowling are planning to get married soon. Fiona Edenfield is Mandy's friend and will be one of her bridesmaids. Since Mandy and Rick are known for working with paranormal activity, Fiona requests their help in understanding the visit from her grandmother. With the help of Brian Powers and the Club Paranormal Tourism group, Mandy and Rick visit Kimmelstiel Manor to see Beverly and help Fiona.

Did Fiona actually see the ghost of her grandmother or was she dreaming? What is the danger Beverly warned Fiona about? Can Mandy, Rick, and Brian save Fiona from the danger? .

I read this book without having read any of the previous stories in the series and as a result, had difficulty understanding the background and interactions of the characters. Although the story flows fairly smoothly, but there are times when it is difficult to determine who is speaking. The story has plenty of red herrings to keep you guessing throughout.

I received an ARC version of this book from the author, but the review is entirely my own thoughts.

Amanda can’t wait to get married it’s been a long time coming that her and Rick finally tie the knot. But Fiona, Amanda’s bridesmaid has other ideas.

Fiona’s grandmother’s ghost tells her that she is about to die. They're off to Fiona's family estate to find the murderer in a heap of paranormal ghost tour guests.

I loved this story with suspense, hidden secrets, then you have spirits who stick their noses in to meddle.

TORY-LINE WICKED, MANOR, AND MURDER BY LOTTA SMITH:

In Wicked, Manor, And Murder, Amanda Meyer and Rick Rowling's wedding is around the corner. Busy with wedding plans, Amanda's surprised when her best friend and bridesmaid Fiona reveals she has seen her dead Granny. Not only did she see her, Granny gave her a message that she was in grave danger. Fiona contacted Amanda and Rick to investigate and find who's placing her in imminent danger.

What they find rivals Hollywood; murder, dark secrets, affairs, ghosts, and danger; along with zany characters and interfering spirits. My book review of Wicked, Manor, and Murder follows.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:

Amanda, Rick, and Brian, are back in Smith's latest installment of the Paranormal In Manhattan Mystery Series. A standalone read, I would recommend reading the earlier books as they will enhance your reading experience and enjoyment of the characters.

Wicked, Manor, And Murder, Book 7, filled with quips, fun, ghostly presence, deep dark secrets, mystery, and murder, hits the mystery and paranormal mark. Including many twists and turns, Smith held the plot close to her chest, and revealing the who, what, when, and how, as needed in the story-line.

Smith included all our favorite characters in the latest installment, we even get to see Rick's mother again. I love all the characters in these books. Rick's a prince among men, Amanda's a normal woman with one quirk; she talks to ghosts and has a guardian spirit; the zany Jackie. Then throw in Brian, the Exorcist and all-around good guy, and you have a cast to solve mysteries and murders, as well as, provide humor to the story-line.

I found Wicked, Manor, and Murder a solid paranormal mystery filled with a likeable cast of characters. With many candidates for the villain of the story, I was surprised when the culprit's revealed. I found the pace smooth and steady and the scene transition seamless. I would not hesitate to buy this book for my self or a friend.
WICKED, MANOR, AND MURDER RECOMMENDATION: STARS 4

“Wicked Manor and Murder” earns 5/5 Mysteries B&W Films!

Amanda Meyer, Mandy to her friends, is a bit overwhelmed with wedding preparations: Visits with the planner? Dresses? Blue, which blue? And with a month before the date, she’s running our of time. But, when one of her bridesmaids asks to meet, bursts into tears, and explains receiving a cryptic message “Danger awaits you,” it all just seems to add to the stress. Fiona Edenfeld, a college friend, moved into her family’s Kimmelstiel Manor, with her husband, both eager to turn the storehouse into a cafe. But Fiona, not known for an ability to see ghosts like Mandy, has had quiet a shock…her grandmother, dead these past eight years, appeared with a message of impending doom. She needs Mandy’s help to find the killer-to-be before the prophecy can be fulfilled. Mandy and her fiancé Rick Rowling, along with Brian Powers, a self-proclaimed exorcist, and a bus load of paranormal enthusiasts, decide to come to Fiona’s aide. Will “Nana” appear to Mandy? Will more details be forthcoming? Will they all be in jeopardy?

I am new to Lotta Smith’s Paranormal in Manhattan series, where have I been, you ask? I have a couple of the books in the series, and I decided to join the author's team and I was thrilled to be accepted. The seventh book in the series was the perfect place to start: Cryptic messages? Strange 8mm films? Ghosts galore? Who knew that helping out a friend could be so …dangerous? Well, now I know everyone did. I didn’t feel totally out-of-the-loop with the back story and character connections having not read the previous six books. There were enough reminders and explanations to bring any newbie up to speed. There were only a few curious items that popped up, but nothing that interfered with my enjoyment. Newbies may feel more fulfilled by starting at the beginning with “Wicked for Hire” which helps to show the growth in the characters and answer those nagging queries. This story was very engaging with a bit of humor mixed in. The characters well developed, some quirky. My favorite is Mandy, strong willed and clever, but I love Jackie! Mandy’s drag queen guardian ‘ghost’ is always there with the quip to ease the tension and even provide some assistance. Playing out in the background we have Mandy and Rick’s upcoming nuptials and all things ghosts… Great book!

Amanda (Mandy) Meyer's and Rick Rawling are finalizing their wedding plans. While at lunch with her bridesmaid and BFF, Fiona, Mandy finds out that Fiona was visited by the ghost of her deceased Granny. Granny informs Fiona that she is in grave danger, which upsets Fiona, as she has been receiving texts from a secret admirer. She asks for Rick and Mandy's help. Rick, Mandy, Jackie (Mandy's ghost friend who refers to herself as Mandy's guardian angel), and Brian (exorcist and owner of a ghost tour guide business), take off for Fiona's family estate, hoping Granny will communicate with Mandy. Brian, with Fiona's permission decided to do a tour at the estate. Much to their surprise Granny loves all the company and entertains everyone. While at the family home, there is a murder, and a mysterious dense fog descends making it impossible for anyone to leave. Fiona is attacked, but you will never guess by who or why. I just loved this book, it had so many twists and turns and kept me guessing. Great job Lotta Smith!!! You have a way of telling a story that I really like, so I'm sticking around to see what happens next. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book and am happy to say I foundd it extremely entertaining, well worth reading.

This is another great read which i took on holiday and it kept me up into the early hours as i could not put it down, this book has everything, i love the humour and all the hidden twists and turns you think you have sorted out who has done what then their is another twist to the story.
Mandy is stressed as its getting nearer to the wedding date and she still hasn't sorted out the bridesmaid's color's yet, when Fiona a old collage friend who is also going to be a bridesmaid asks Mandy for her help. She has inherited her grandparents estate of Kimmelstlel Manor and want to turn it into a B and B but Fiona has found an old 8mm movie in the store house and it has her on it with the dress that she has bought but not shown anyone, it also shows her being strangled. when she goes to show her husband leo the movie its just white and blank.
As Mandy investigates with rick they find out that Leo has a few hidden secrets and Fiona's grandmother was right to think fiona's life is in danger but im not giving anything away as it will spoil things. Just read the book its well' worth the read , i love these books.

Counting down the days to their wedding, Amanda and Rick find themselves involved in a ghostly sighting of her bridesmaids grandmother. Arriving at Fiona's family home with their friend an exorcist and paranormal tour guide, they encounter much more. Before the night is over, granny makes several appearances, a tour bus patron is killed, Fiona is saved from strangulation twice, and Fiona discovers her husband was having an affair with the dead woman. Never a dull moment in this book.

This is a highly entertaining addition to this series. The author obviously has fun with her creation which has healthy doses of humor in addition to ghostly apparitions and murders. A great addition to a fun series.

ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
Amanda can't wait to be married to Rick.
She left the FBI + now it is working at Rick's company.
When meeting one of her bridesmaid for lunch, Fiona tells Amanda her ghost problem.
Of course, Amanda wants to help her friend + bridesmaid.
It seems that Fiona's grandmother ghost told her that she is in great danger.
While investigating the mystery, family secrets + a betrayal are revealed.
Will Fiona be able to cope w/ all of the bad news coming her way ?
There is also a romance blossoming.
You will have to read the book to find out who is the new couple.
Love the ending!
I can't wait for the next book.

Quirky and fun

It’s a quick read. I really liked the story. You could read it as a standalone because everything gets explained, but of course it’s nicer to read the previous books first.

I loved Jackie the ghost of a drag queen, Mandy’s guardian angel. I tried to picture some of the situations and it’s hilarious. One question popped into my head though: why does only Mandy have a guardian angel and not Rick or Brian?

When I finished the book, I still didn’t fully understand why Fiona was targeted. Of course the ‘why’ is explained, but I didn’t think it was a very good reason. But the story is fun and quirky and very entertaining!

In Paranormal in Manhattan:Wicked, Manor and Murder Mandy (Amanda) is meeting her friend and bridesmaid Fiona for lunch. During lunch Fiona reveals that she was visited by the ghost of her grandmother Beverly and was warned of danger for Fiona. Fiona is now scared and wants Mandy to help her solve this issue. So Mandy brings her soon to be husband Rick, along with fashion diva ghost Jackie and paranormal consultant Brian with her to the mansion. Lots of twists and turns. Now a murder and secrets uncovered. Such a fun read. Really enjoy Jackie. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book and enjoyed every page of it.

I look forward to each an every new book in this series. sometimes I wish I could look over to see Jackie watching me and the think she'd just make fun of my make-up.
But seriously murder can be fun when you have Jackie, Mandy and Rick on the case. Now add Brian (someone else that talks to dead people) to the mix and you have a new mystery.
Rick and Mandy are looking forward to their wedding, when one of Mandy's bridesmaids talks to her dead grandma and ask for Mandy's help.
Husband, wife, mistress... who's dead? Read this book to find out.

Weddings are stressful enough, but imagine hearing a cryptic message from a bridesmaid's grandmother's ghost. Bride-to-be Amanda and her fiancé Rick can't catch a break! Hopefully a trip to Fiona's family estate will prevent the predicted foreboding events. It's definitely a book that will keep a reader guessing! Highly enjoyable, and well written, it's a great book to settle in with. This is a voluntary review of an advance reader copy.

Wicked, Manor and Murder by Lotta Smith was another fun addition to this series. I always enjoy visiting with Mandy, Rick and Jackie. These characters are well developed; and I like that Mandy seems to still be developing her powers as a medium. The mystery had enough twists to keep me turning the pages and there was plenty of humor as they track down Fiona's mysterious stalker, try to prevent a murder and reveal a sordid little secret. An entertaining afternoon read.

Lotta Smith continues to create new investigations, and new ghostly friends with ease. Wicked, Manor, and Murder is the latest in the Paranormal in Manhattan Mystery Book series, and doesn't disappoint. Mandy, Rick, Jackie, and Brian are back, helping out a friend with the aid of a new ghost. Unpredictable, fun, and a little bit sexy, Lotta Smith writes a great book.

I enjoyed this cozy mystery, including the characters. I love ghost cozies and other paranormal stories. I thought it was original having a ghost as a guardian angel. The ghost tour part was interesting. My favorite part and lines were when the tour members said that they liked meeting Fiona's grandmother's ghost and that they were fans of her! Cute. There was one part about a strange film and that was also original.

I would read more books in the series and by this author.

What it’s about…

Rick Rowling and Mandy Meyer, previously of FBI fame, are currently working for Rick’s family business, USCAB. Well, Rick is, Mandy is working on getting the wedding planned since it’s next month. Currently, her assignment from the wedding planner is the color and theme for her bridesmaids.

She meets her BFF from college, Fiona Edenfeld, who’s going to be one of her bridesmaids. Somehow their conversation about the wedding turns into a plea for help with the ghost of Fiona’s late grandmother at her family estate. And a warning of danger.

Mandy, Rick, and Mandy’s guardian spirit, Jackie, ask to join a paranormal tour with Brian Powers, their favorite exorcist and head towards Norwalk. Most of the people on the tour have done this before. There are only a few newcomers who have other agendas.

A little haunting by Grandma, a murder, and a couple of attempts on Fiona’s life all add up to more than anyone was prepared for. But not more than they can handle with Brian and Jackie helping out!

But pink sapphire will look wonderful on Mandy’s bridesmaids.

Technical Tidbits…

The cover is another great stylized one for this series.

The storyline is an excellent one with lots of twists and turns to keep you interested.

The characters are ones you know if you have been following the series at all. But they are easy to get to know in each book if you jump in on any one book. You miss out on the depth of the relationships and some of the details of the characters, but they are easy characters to follow if you choose to simply read this one book rather than the series.

The pace as always is fast forward. Rick is lucky he can find time to schmooze with his bride-to-be with Jackie popping in and out.

The tension never lags once it starts building and it really builds to a peak in this one.

And this is where you STOP if you don’t want to see any SPOILERS…

The good, the bad, and the ugly…and how much it lit up my life… ✰✰✰✰✰

Either these people eat some of the craziest things, or I just don’t eat very adventurously. Squid ink cake? And it tastes like what? No, I really can’t believe that one. I’m with Rick, I’ll stick with pineapple upsidedown cupcakes.

I absolutely love Fiona’s Nana. She’s so sweet and welcoming of the tours. She adores Fiona, too. She sure doesn’t think too highly of Leo, though. Of course, we find out why that is in the course of the story. He’s written as a sort of sleazy character from the beginning, though. You’re prepared not to like him. The comments about his weight are frequent and not so subtle, like his chipmunk cheeks. He can’t even open the lock of the warehouse. And the things he notices seem to be monetary. Then he seems to sort of disappear until he shows up in the garage with Vina.

And Vina. Vina Burwick. Just who the heck is she? She’s having an affair with the chipmunk, but we get no idea how long it’s been going on. Out of nowhere, she attempts to kill Fiona. That’s some serious affair! She’s ready to kill the wife! Wow! Good thing Brian’s there to take her out of the world. Then Wesley grabs Fiona and makes his attempt. At least he’s still among the living. And it’s Brian to the rescue again. Maybe Brian and Fiona should have an arrangement like Rick and Fiona do. Work together and get married so that he can take care of her so she stays safe. I mean, it works for Rick and Fiona, so far. Well, working together is a good start.

I have to wonder if they’ll ever come back to the film locked in the vault at USCAB? Fiona really does have a strange family history. Her grandmother told the whole story to Rick and Mandy. Will there come a time when Fiona needs to know it? Will they ever have to explain it all to her? And what would be the reason?

I think I’ll have to go back and read the books in this series I missed with trying to read the spooky ones for Halloween so I can fill in the gaps of the relationships. Tough job, huh?

Oh this series. I went into reading the book with some hesitancy. I will admit that I liked how it was going. Seemed to keep my interest and I thought alright the author has changed her ways. Well then you get to the end...

**************************SPOILER ALERT*************************************

So as the killer is identified, you learn that Fiona's first love was caught with a dog. But that was too much so they told everyone it was a cow instead?!? How in the hell is that any different. Then her dead grandma's spirit goes on about her husband molesting the daughter in law and how she and her son both knew but did nothing about it. I was okay with the story until all that crap. To me, this was completely out of left field and it sounded like the author was reaching for something to keep people hooked.

If you want a good short read that you can pick up any book in the series then this is it. The entire book takes place over a weekend. I think it might of been better if it was longer and things were more developed.

Then..according to my kindle, the book was done at 60%. Then remaining 40% was the first chapters of her previous books in the series. Why? Why ? Why? She does this in every book! Drives me nuts!

So long story short, I am done with the series.

I received an ARC and voluntarily reviewed this book.

Fiona is planning to renovate the family home, the Kimmelstiel manor, which had a large stuccoed storehouse, into a B&B. While moving some materials into the house from the storehouse, she sees and hears the ghost of her grandmother, who passed away 8 years ago, and tells her to watch her step on the stairs.

Amanda is only a month away from her wedding to Rick, and still has a lot of decisions to make, like the color of the bridesmaids' dresses. Jackie, her drag-queen ghost 'guardian angel' pops up while Amanda is trying to choose a flavor of cupcake to sample for a wedding cake flavor. The salesgirl hears her say 'ghost' to Jackie, so assumes she is asking for a squid-ink flavored cupcake called a ghost cake. While there, she runs into Fiona, an old college friend, who will be one of her bridesmaids. Fiona tells Amanda about the visitation.

And we're off and running with another ghostly who-dunnit, including ghostly fogs, murder, and attempted murder. The 'bad guy' this time (oops, can't reveal - that's a spoiler). Brian, Rick's old friend, former priest, exorcist, and ghost-whisperer himself, makes an appearance as a ghost-tour guide.

This one is not quite as outrageous as the previous books, but is still charming.

Murder at the manor, Amanda Meyers style.

Ghostly Warnings

Fiona, Amanda 's BFF, is haunted by her dead grandmother's ghost. Beverly, the grand ghost tells Fiona that Fiona's life is in danger. Fiona invites Rick and Amanda to her family's estate to see if they can help her. Throw in a murder, a stalking, an attempted murder, a dense fog and a cheating spouse. Read and enjoy!

History on repeat

Much better than the previous book. Back to what is expected but again only 67% of the actual page count is the story. If you like short reads this is brilliant. Ghosts, stalking, murder (past and present) and not forgetting wedding plans. A great short read!
