"All I had to do was write a book about him. All I did in the end was fall in love with him..."

Talon Cooper is a struggling young writer who decides to enter the male/male, or gay romance, genre to expand his horizons. Alexander Mendes is an established gay fiction author who takes Talon under his (muscled) wing to introduce him to the vibrant LGBT+ world and ensure he

*** A truly insightful look at being gay in our time. This is an educational walk through all things "gay," good and bad, plus the obstacles that need to be overcome. We see the opponents of LGBT rights' ignorance and fear, that is explained, and shows why they need to understand. The romance here is two authors who become close.
* Straight Talon, late twenties,

wants to write an M/M book, but needs "gay" lessons.

* Flamboyant Alexander, mid-twenties,

agrees to teach him what he needs to know.

Male/Male by Seth King 5 stars

Told alternately by Talon and Alexander.
This story felt very personal
Talon..Damn...how he puts down quite accurate about only loving at full blast somehow being too much and not being enough...that hit straight to my heart.

Some questions felt just for me and brought me back to very unique feelings "Have you ever felt a singular focus on yourself?" Yes! and it felt amazing! Like I was the only one in the world...in a cocoon surrounded by attention...feeling unique..

Quando mi avvicino a qualcuno parlo troppo, mangio tro ...more

This is my first book by this author, and I've been enjoying the teasers and was looking forward to reading it. There were some cute and sexy moments, and I thought the characters were very likable.

Where this book fell a little short for me - I am a fan of SHOWING, not telling. Much of this book felt like a lecture from a gay man "teaching" the straight man about all the problems gay people face, up to and including straight women writing gay romances, and those who post pride flags on social me

The beauty in this story is almost to much to see - like looking at the sun itself. I have so much emotion coursing through me as I read the last page - amazement and my nativity, disgust at my lack of action, desire to do so much more. I have tears swimming in my eyes and I feel like I want to cry....but it was a happy ending, so why. I'm confused, emotional, filled with something that I don't know how to name but I don't think I want to name it. I just want to feel this, just bask in this, bat ...more

This sounded very promising and the reviews are mostly positive so I guess I'm a bit of the odd one out when I say that I'm probably not going to finish it.

The author, through his characters, is criticizing gay romance novels because of how the gay community and gay people are often displayed in them. How many of these stories are merely an instrument for entertainment, a fantasy for straight women with stereotyped characters that don't even try to address the problems gay people have to face ev

I like the premise, so I'm still reading, but I must add that I don't like the book. My problem with it is that it's using every cliché without saying anything new. Clichés work, if you add something fresh. And this book does not add freshness.

Almost done now and this book has devolved into preaching. The thing is, I get what the author is saying, but it's not done well. And an editor would help. "Hoping against hop" is my favorite, but not the only mistake.

The ending ...ugh...makes me want to

Don't Judge This Brilliant Book By Its Cover

I will get to the reason behind my headline presently. But first, please read this brilliantly incisive and beautifully written examination of what the LGTBQ community is, and is NOT, and how it still is not a totally incorporated segment of the society in which we live.

Talon and Alexander are completely opposite individuals, and you will probably not like Talon so much for quite a long time, but fall in love with Alexander from the start. Read the blu

Love Is All Around

Speechless?! So much more flavor than expected, and I expected an experience of the highest quality, e.g. Michelin 3-star. This talented author used all the key ingredients for a savory gay romance and then folded in a cup and a half of sometimes harsh, reality. The reality is folded in, so as to not hide the taste of romance yet allow the reader to see, and taste the reality as well, like in the best kind of fruit cake, pardon the pun. I laughed, cried, sighed, held my breath at times. We are r ...more

Male/Male is a story about two people who fall in love. And that's it. They meet, they fall in love, and they try their hardest to live in a world that has problems with accepting that love.

Male/Male is a love story. A pure true love story set in the reality of our society. And that, that is what makes it the best love story. It's real. The love is real. And in the end, that is the most important thing.

I don't think I've ever loved two characters more. I don't think I've ever fallen in love so

This is fiction wrapped around reality and not your typical m/m book. Male/Male is so much more.... Informative, educational, raw and real. I don't even know where to start with this book . I loved evey second of it and hated the things I learned which I will get too. Alexander and Talon are both authors but of different types of books . Talon is broke and looking to break into the gay romance novel genre , so he gets ahold of Alex the gay author who has been hitting on talon for a couple years. Talon has never considered himself gay but can admit when men are attractive . He has never felt like he fit in, like he wasn't comfortable ...more

Good

Talon is a writer and gets the idea of writing gay romances but he is straight so what does he know about gay life. He asks a fellow writer that's gay to help him, but this leads to more than help with the writing.

This author make me reflect on my view of some things I do and what my thoughts about them are.
Why do I as a woman read gay love romances, is it only because it's sweet and hot that men can be in love and make love with other men????

The writing style is good but I have to say that

I love Seth's books, his characters jump off the page and you feel yourself falling in love right along with them.. you feel sad in their fight for quality and acceptance and Seth said it best when he wrote “Books open hearts and change lives all the time". How to begin? What a beautiful story and the writing is incredible. Seth King has a way of writing a book that gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling on one hand and harsh reality on another. This is very enlightening and as the story unfolds with a new relationship between Talon and Alexander, we also learn more about the blatant bigotry in our society of small minded morons. This story will make you laugh, make you cry and make you realize sadly how so much has changed but how so much more

I am torn

Being a straight female, I found much of the beginning interesting and informative. I got lost at the fight. It seems like something was missing, or maybe I just missed it. I thought Alexander should have been more supportive in Talon's confusion. I again had mixed feelings about the council meeting. I was pleased to see a pastor make a statement on the gay rights side. After the decision was handed down, I saw myself in Alexander's response, which I didn't totally agree with. The end w

Marvelous Read

This book left me breathless. I wondered if I was reading about so many actual "somebody's lives?" Or was it fiction? It's difficult to express how I feel after reading it. I had to put it down several times as it became too much. I generally read for relaxation and enjoyment but this book stirred so many emotions inside of me and made me realize how difficult my gay friends lives could have been. Ok, I literally loved this book! It is so beautiful and heartbreaking I just couldn't not love it!

It's a book about love, heartbreak, life as a gay person and there are just so many FEELS! I loved how Talon and Alexander were feeling for each other and how Talon explores Alexander's world and in general the gay world. A world he knows nothing about.
