When you read Mary Ann Mitchell, you have to be prepared for her grotesque depictions of gore. If you can't stomach that kind of thing, this is a book you'll want to avoid because it's nonstop maggots with a side of necrophilia.

I loved the plot of this book: a man learns the secret of immortality from an Amazonian tribe, and by ritualistically taking a life he can extend his own. He's essentially a black widower. I enjoyed the plot, and I didn't even mind the explicit gore because one, this is t

I went to the bookstore looking for a good horror read to tide me over this weekend and stumbled upon a collection of books by Mary Ann Mitchell. The majority of books seemed to center around her character The Marquis de Sade cast as a...wait for it...vampire. Sounds interesting enough, right? Well, I have yet to get to that series but if I have to base those novels off of "Drawn to the Grave" - I just wasted $14. *le sigh

This book was like watching a train wreck - I cringed with every turn of

This book was so disappointing, it was like a train wreck I couldn't stop reading and had to find out what happened

It was...not as good as her Vampire Novels. But then again, I read them when I was 14/15 so my tastes have probably changed. The female character, Megan, is an idiot. That other woman is an idiot, (can't remember her name because honestly, I just don't care) and Carl was dull for an antagonist. Hell, even Victoria from Twilight was a better villain than him. And that's saying something. The sex scenes were dull, not to mention distracting, and way too frequent to be normal.I read it because I thou ...more

I'm not usually a fan of dark fantasy, but I liked this book. The title especially is appropriate because the characters draw pictures of their victims and bury the pictures trying to cure illnesses and diseases.

It was also part horror because some of the descriptions were gross and very detailed. This didn't bother me though, because I like horror and read a lot of it.

I gave this four stars because although the title and premise of the book was good, there weren't any twists or turns and I gu

As a child, Mary Ann Mitchell wrote short stories, essays, and poetry. When she was twelve she sent her short stories to the night editor of The Journal American, who encouraged her to send more. Her mother intercepted the letters and forbade her from writing. Seems some of the family’s dark secrets were oozing onto Mary Ann’s written pages. Her writing became secret and sporadic. Once she complet ...more
