On the roof of a house outside Truelove, Maine, master carpenter Max Doyle looks down through a skylight and sees the most beautiful woman he’s ever laid eyes on. She’s naked, she’s gorgeous, and everything about her is perfect, down to the ball-busting tattoo of a rose that wraps around her hip. But it isn’t just any woman making his knees buckle. It’s his best friend, Rosie Madden. And as he stands there, mesmerized and precariously close to toppling off the roof, he knows he’ll never, ever be able to look at her the same way again.

Rosie can’t help but notice that Max is suddenly acting very strange—lots of long stares, totally tongue-tied, and not at all like the slightly cocky hunk she’s proud to call her best friend. She can’t figure it out, until later that night when Max rescues her from the world’s worst date, challenges her to a game of pool, and shows her just exactly what she’s got him thinking about. Repeatedly.

But life is complicated. Rosie’s cat, Julia Caesar, wants to eat Max’s dog Cupcake for an afternoon snack. A dream job threatens to pull them apart. And another glance through the skylight changes everything, one more time. Yet try as they might, they can’t go back to being just friends, because falling in love with the one you’ve always adored?

It feels so good.

So Good - Nicola Rendell

So Good is book one in the brand new series, Alpha Dogs by Nicola Rendell. Nicola has quickly become one of my very favorite authors. This book…the only way I can think of to put it into words is that it is “everything.” It checked off every single thing on my mental list of what makes a book great. I laughed out loud (at inappropriate moments.) I sighed, I swooned, it has adorable animals, it’s sexy as heck. I could go on and on. Nicola has the most adorable pets in this book. Just gaze at the cover for a hint. Even if you don’t love pets in books, gaze at the cover anyway.

So Good - Nicola Rendell

Max Doyle and Rosie Madden have been best friends for twenty years. They do everything together, they are each other’s emergency contacts. Rosie has inherited her grandmother’s home after she passed away. To say the house needs work would be a huge understatement. It is falling apart. Max is a carpenter by trade and is helping Rosie save money by working on the house for her. He was on the roof replacing shingles when he just happened to glance down through the sky light in the bedroom and saw Rosie naked. It’s the moment when everything changed, when the light came on, when he realized that Rosie wasn’t just his best friend, that she was everything to him.

Sexy

Rosie couldn’t help but notice that Max was acting strangely. That night after an internet date gone bad, she and Max have a few drinks, play some pool, and Max proceeds to change the nature of their relationship forever with a panty melting kiss.

Let me just say that Max goes all in from the start. He is most definitely an alpha. He knows what he wants and he goes after it. This man and the things he says. He adds a new definition to the term, swoon. He knew Rosie was the one for him and he showed her in every way possible, every…single…way!

“How can anything feel so good? How can anybody be so amazing to me?”
“You’re the amazing one, Rosie. I’m just here worshiping at the alter.”

So Good - Nicola Rendell

Now, lets talk pets. Along with the house, Rosie inherited her Grandmother’s cat. Julia Caesar is a senior, overweight, cat with a Spam addiction and some serious attitude. Her relationship with Rosie is a work in progress as Rosie tries to wean her off processed meats. Then there is Cupcake. Cupcake is a Chihuahua mix that Max rescues and falls in love with. This little dog basically steals the entire book. She is adorable. She could melt glaciers with her adorableness. And let’s just say that she instantly had Max wrapped right around her little paw.

chihuahua

Together Max and Rosie burn up the pages. Rosie is a sweet children’s book illustrator. But Max brings out another side of her. A dirty talking, sexy confidence she didn’t know was there.

“You look so sweet. But you’re not.”
“Not with you.”

couple laying in the back of a truck

After a couple of short hick-ups, Max and Rosie both realize that their love for one another has been there all along. They just didn’t see it. But there are a couple of other factors getting in their way of complete bliss. First, the fact that Julia Caesar looks like she wants to eat little Cupcake. And then there’s the ill timed dream job. But when true love like their’s happens, there has to be a way, doesn’t there?

“It was because of her. Because for the first time, things were starting to make sense. My place in everything made sense. She made sense of the world for me. She gave me somewhere to belong, something to protect. The meaning of life? I’d found it.”

All I can say in closing is just…Read This Book! Nicola, I think I’m in love with you. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next.

descriptionPerfect cover on this one really. Excellent representation of the hero and Cupcake. Great composition. Great title work.description

descriptionThis was one of those reads that just make you smile from beginning to end. It was a super cute and incredibly sweet best friends to lovers romance that was well written. I sometimes find this author can get a bit wordy in her books which tend to make then drag in places, but I didn't have that issue in this one. The pace seemed perfect, and I never felt the need to skim.

description

No OW/OM drama. It was fairly angst free. It had some smokin' hot sex scenes. The secondary characters consisted of a super sweet dog named Cupcake and a less than friendly cat called Julia with a couple of humans thrown in (I am hoping for a Fletcher book myself). Both main characters were very likable. I LOVED Max. He was pretty much the perfect hero in my eyes. He was sweet. He was alpha. He was smokin' hot. He was ALL in. He and Cupcake were the perfect couple in this one (*lol*). Rosie was a tiny bit less impressive for me and why this wasn't a complete 5-Star read. Her behavior towards Max after the first time they have sex was juvenile for a 34-year-old woman and honestly, a little head scratching. That said, once she got her head out of her ass, I thought she was a pretty great heroine. Lastly, it was all wrapped up in a three months later chapter that was sweet, but I would have liked a further into the future epilogue, but I guess we may see this couple in the coming books.

All in all, this was an incredibly enjoyable way to spend a few hours. Two thumbs up from yours truly.description

This was such a feel good friends-to-lovers story. It was the full package: sexy, funny, sweet, interesting, and I thoroughly enjoyed every second.

"And you just bring us whatever the chef would send out if he were on the most important date of his life."

Max realizes that his bestie Rosie is the real deal after he is brought to awareness when seeing her disrobing unaware. They have the initial fears of ruining their relationship but once they get past that, they really connect on a deeper level beyond their friendship. I liked them both as individuals but together, they just fit. Their history enhanced the development.

"She was like that -looking into her eyes was like that- like a deep dive into the ocean, where all I could hear was my heartbeat. But all I wanted to hear was hers."

The plot wasn't anything new but it was delivered in a such a way that I found myself charmed and interested. The animals complimented and added much humor to the scenes. Julia the cat was hilarious:

"She was, right then, staring at me with all the intensity of a special ops CIA interrogator fired for using you know, torture, and glancing slowly from the pantry to me and back again, and -I kid you not- at the oven clock. Lunchtime was upon us."

I highly recommend this because as the title implies, it is SO GOOD!

Safety: completely safe.

It's LIVE!! http://bit.ly/2vQ6f1R

🐾🐾 5 "Who can resist this man and his love for Cupcake?" stars!! 🐾🐾

Max and Rosie have been best friends for more than two decades. They have always been there for each other and are the kind of friends who can predict what the other is thinking and can finish each other’s sentences. Where there is Max, you will more than likely find Rosie. They have never crossed the line. Ever. However, lines get blurred when Max is up on Rosie’s roof doing repairs and spots her naked through the skylight. That image is burned into his brain and absolutely nothing is going to get it out. Now he’s got to get Rosie on the same page.

🐾 “She is the most beautiful woman in the world.” 🐾

🐾 “She was perfect even when she made mistakes. Tips of her toes. Freckles on her nose.” 🐾

I loved how these two were already in love with each other without even knowing it. Every time they recalled an event from the past, they realized that the feelings were always there, buried under friendship. Whether they were slyly checking the other out or stepping up to encourage the other to test their limits, their attraction and chemistry seemed to be obvious to everyone but themselves.

🐾 “... I couldn’t resist one last kiss on her cheek -- one last sweet, perfect kiss, on the perfect face of the perfect woman. She smelled like heaven. She was heaven, in the flesh.” 🐾

Max was so incredibly alpha and yet there were so many moments that exposed his soft underbelly and made me love him that much more. I wasn’t the hugest fan of Rosie’s for the first half of the book, but I was definitely on board with this woman for the rest of the story. These two shared a friendship to be envied and their inevitable love was the stuff of dreams. Between the funny moments with their cat and dog, the sentiment and nostalgia from the past and the moments that made them pause in the present, and even the extremely hot and steamy times, this story couldn’t help itself by being immensely entertaining. As the first full-length novel I’ve read from this author, I’ve gotta say it was SO GOOD!!

P.S. Will there be a story for Fletcher, their best friend? I’d love to see him get a happy ending too!

This book is seriously what it says on the tin. So. Bloody. Good.

“I saw you naked today. Through your skylight.”

This isn't the first Nicola Rendell I've read, and it just reinforces her talent of blending delicious and dirty with heartwarming sweetness and hilarity. I love me a best-friends-to-lovers romance and this is up there—it literally had it all.

description

You'll never go far wrong with me when it comes to a man who loves his animals, and I kid you not, Max Doyle will leave you a puddle on the floor. And that's just with the dog, let alone when it comes to him showing us the man he is when the penny drops and he realises that not only does he love Rosie, his best friend of over twenty years, he's in love-love with her.

“… I want to be the one to treat you like you deserve.”

Although I'm not a huge fan of H's sweeping in and paying for everything and the h giving in fairly easily, I can let that slide as I flat out loved Max and Rosie together. I adored how honest and easygoing they were around one another, and the fun and natural hiccups that came with venturing into such unchartered waters. All in all a fabulous start to the Alpha Dogs series and I'm hoping Nicola has plans for Fletcher.

This was the absolute CUTEST ROMANCE I've read this year AND a FAVORITE of mine from this author! These characters were as LOVABLE as they were UNFORGETTABLE! Sexy, sweet, hilarious, and just a FEEL GOOD love story!

Nicola Rendell always brings the FEEL GOOD ROMANCE, but there was just something about this best friends-to-lovers romance that made me want to scream my love for it to anyone who would listen. Max Doyle was just an INCREDIBLE male lead in this sexy and sweet romantic comedy. He made me feel ALL THE THINGS! He is just a teddy bear of a hero and made me SWOON with every turn of the page. Rosie was a great match for our Max. The way she just melted into him and the way their relationship grew into something more had my heart beating in overtime.

If you are looking for a romance that will lift your spirits instantly, look no further than SO GOOD by Nicola Rendell. This is her BEST WORK YET, and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us. If you weren't a fan before, trust me, you will be a goner once you devour Max and Rosie's beautiful love story!

It seems I rarely give out 5 stars these days, but THIS BOOK, y’all. I simply adored everything about So Good. It was pretty much the PERFECT best friends to lovers romance. I haven’t read a book with this trope in a while, especially one that was this good. I adored the main characters, the humor had me giggling like crazy, and there are DOGS!!! Seriously – So Good is sweet perfection. If you’re in the mood for an adorable romance that will leave your heart happy and you smiling like an idiot, then you have to read this book!

Rosie and Max have been best friends for decades. They’ve never even thought about taking their relationship anything further than friendship, and that’s been perfect for them all these years. Except while Max is up on Rosie’s roof, helping her fix up her newly inherited house, he happens to glance down and see a gorgeous, stunning, beautiful naked woman… who is none other than his best friend. Now he can’t get her body out of his mind, and wondering what it would be like to be more than friends… because he knows that if there’s a woman out there that’s perfect for him, it’s Rosie.

In that moment, I knew that what had happened hadn’t been a fucking one-time sucker-punch lightning strike. It hadn’t just been that I saw her naked and got swallowed up by desire. It was real, and it wasn’t sudden at all. She really was the most beautiful woman in the world. I’d always wanted her. Only now, I knew what I wanted.

To say Rosie is shocked when Max, her very best friend, makes a move on her is an understatement. But Max is the very best man she’s ever known, and the lust he ignites in her is incendiary. Who knew they’d have such incredible, carnal chemistry between them? Rosie can’t help but give in (I would too, girl) and discovers that maybe the best thing to happen to her has been hiding under her nose all along.

“Tell me.”
“I want to take you hard, and I want to make you mine. Tonight and every night.”
“Who says I’m not yours already?” she said, all breathy, as her hand slid around to my ass, and her fingers moved into my pocket. “Who says I wasn’t yours all along and just never knew it?”

Max, Max, Max. I was the literal definition of the heart eyes emoji while reading this book, and it was all because of our hero Max. The way he realizes he’s always been in love with his best friend SO swoonworthy. I love the way he is around Rosie – he’s head over heels for her, endlessly supportive of her, and can dish out some dirty talk like no other. Oh, and did I mention the fact that he adopts an adorable, tiny Chihuahua and names her Cupcake!? HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE THIS MAN.

“You’re heaven. You are.”
“I’m nothing. You’re everything.”

This is actually my first Nicola Rendell read, but it certainly won’t be my last. I’m eagerly awaiting the rest of the Alpha Dogs series and can only hope the next book will be about Fletcher (and his dog Captain). I honestly haven’t felt so happy while reading a book while I did So Good. It is perfect, adorable, and EVERYTHING!

5 - "It was always you." Stars!

So Good is the first book I have read by Nicola Rendell, but having seen nothing but positive reviews for her previous books, I had no hesitation in diving right in.

This book literally emulates in title, in that is is Sooooo Good I absolutely adored Rosie and Max’s best friends to lovers story.

He was my rock. He was my compass. Our friendship was my anchor.

Low drama, high entertainment, plenty of laughs, lots of sexy times, it was just a really well written enjoyable story.

Not my best friend-my fucking fantasy.

Told from dual POV, you get to see both sides of the story as their relationship morphs from one thing to another, add into the mix a cute dog; Cupcake and a cantankerous old cat; Julia Caesar and there wasn’t a chapter where something outrageously funny didn’t happen.

"I want things to go back to the way they were. Yesterday. When everything made sense…"

"There’s no fucking way that’s going to happen."

The author gave really good guy POV as well, something that some authors struggle to do. Max epitomized the perfect guy, and I really liked Rosie too, the pair of them together were just cuteness personified, with a side of hot and sexy thrown in.

"Cool it, hot stuff."

Just pure reading pleasure. I will absolutely be reading more from this author in the future.

ARC generously provided by the author via ArdentPRose PR in exchange for the above honest review.

“Every moan, every writhe, every feeling you have, Rosie Madden. I want to put my name all over this body. I’m never, ever letting you go.”

It must be said that the sex in this book is not just explosive—it is downright NUCLEAR. It is so finger-lickin’ good that I think I’ve got entire paragraphs memorized simply from re-reading them so many times. And yet, that is not even one of the main reasons I loved this book so much. I’ve come to count on all the ways Nicola Rendell always manages to pull me into her stories with little more than a sentence or two, making me so invested in her characters that I end up gobbling up the pages like I’m starving, but I still get shivers every time it happens. One of the most gratifying friends-to-lovers scenarios I’ve ever come across, this is the story of two best friends who must come to terms with their long-suppressed feelings for one another after one accidental ‘Peeping Tom’ moment changes everything between them. It’s a story that never stops being sexy, exciting, fun, relatable, while remaining incredibly touching, too, and with an adorable little Chihuahua and a sassy old cat thrown into the mix, this book had me spellbound cover to cover.

For Keeps.

A sweet, sexy, witty friends to lover’s story.

I really like Ms. Rendell’s writing style she sucks you in with her writing and the characters that she has created. And I will be reading her other books as well.

Max and Rosie have been friends for going on twenty years. Not once did they recognise that they could be anything more than friends.

That is until…

Max catches Rosie and sees her in a light he thought he never would. Things will never be the same. They cross the line. A sweet romance of getting to know your best friend differently.

Can you really be friend zoned for twenty years and then become a couple? I guess but it would be hard to shake off that mentality after so long unless those feelings were always there but had been ignored all this time. As you can tell I’m having problems here.

I love both the MC and they are really good together. They have all the makings of a perfect couple.
As I said I enjoy this book but I wanted more story. Different strokes I need some action not a lot but I always find it hard when it is solely about the couple. But this is just me. I love Julia Caesar and her SPAM addiction. A good alpha hero with a miniature dog called Cupcake.

Romantic comedies aren’t always my thing but I do like to give them a try. I was really enjoying it at the beginning and then the jokes and banter were just going on and on. So yeah I liked it and I didn’t BUT if you like romance comedies than this is the book for you.

I originally found this author on Netgalley. I read and enjoyed a couple of her books/ARC (Confessed, Professed, Hail Mary). I bought this due to the awesomely cute cover. A man and his dog. Hmm
I do like the friends to lover trope-MOST of the time.
Max and Roxie have known each other for more than half their lives. They're best friends who've never been more than that. Or have they? Max makes the first move. He finally speaks up.Why now? Why did he wait so long? Why didn't they TALK?
That day has come. Max lives on a house boat which gets damaged. Rosie invites him to stay with her for a while. They're great together, but Max wants more. They do finally take it further. Their first time doesn't seem like the FIRST time to me. They're awkward, but they get over that. real quick
Max found a small dog, he names Cupcake. She's absolutely adorable. Max is like her daddy. Rosie's heart melts seeing Max in a new light. Max dotes on little Cupcake.
Rosie's job is a children's book illustrator. Max is a carpenter. I don't recall Max going to work. Maybe I missed it.
Rosie has inherited an old house which Max has been helping her fix up in order to sell.
Her gram also left her an old mean cat- Julia Caesar. I have to say, the dog and cat really stole the show. Julia is a bit of a villain. I loved the epiphany Rosie has when she figures how to get Julia to respond to her.
I love the intense chemistry between Rosie and Max. I just wish that it was more to do with their new relationship and keeping their friendship too. Too much sex? Nah, but they were great at "destination sex".
Max and Rosie sure had a lot of sexy times to make up for "just being friends" all those years.
I really like this author's humor. The witty dialogue and internal thoughts kept this sweet story up beat.
There was no ow, om. Oh yeah, Rosie had one date, but he was no match for Rosie -and Max's antics.
I'll be looking for the next book in this series. 4 stars. I loved the Maine setting (in Summer)

I loved everything about this best friends to lovers story. Such a fun read.

Max is DIVINE!!!!!! Rosie is just the sweetest character ever and don't even get me started on Cupcake the chihuahua and Julia the cat. I laughed so hard at some of their scenes I snorted.

Max and Rosie have been best friends since school, until they become so much more. All it takes is a bad date and a protective best friend to change everything. This is the very best kind of friends to lovers romance because you genuinely believe in their friendship and want them to be together forever. There are a few bumps in the road and the chemistry between the two might set your kindle on fire but it all adds to the fun of the story. It's So Good!!! See what I did there 😉😉

As with Nicola's other books you get the perfect blend of heat and sweet. A fantastic, fun romantic comedy. Definitely recommend.

I received an ARC of this book.

So sweet.
So sexy.
So romantic.
So charming.
So HOT.
SO, SOOOOO GOOD!

So Good is without a doubt, one of the best friends to lovers romances out there. These two characters are literally the best of friends, with a deep, soulful connection that the reader feels immediately. I can't even begin to describe how much these two lit me up and made me smile and swoon.

Nicola Rendell is one of the best as writing romances that are sweet and sexy but oh so hot. Her males are the best kind, ones that scream ALPHA but are also super sweet and romantic. I fell in love with Max!

As always, there are comedic touches in this novel that have you laughing out loud or smiling so much it hurts!! Cupcake and Julia are HILARIOUS side characters.

I loved EVERYTHING there is to love about this novel! There is a reason why Nicola Rendell is a FAVE of mine and this book solidifies that reason!

Ugh!

This book was less than mediocre. I didn't think it was spectacular or anything in the beginning. In fact it was just an OK friends to lovers story until it got to the part about 20-25% into the story where they have sex for the first time. And while they are having sex he asks her about her rose tattoo and she tells him how someone she had a passionate thing with named Francisco tattooed it on her last year and then he asked if she loved this Francisco and she said a little. THIS WAS WHILE THEY WERE HAVING SEX!!! Ummmm no. Just! No!

I had to force myself to finish the rest of the story after that. It wouldn't have mattered if the rest of the story was written as if Kristen Ashley herself had come up with the rest of the story (which you could tell from the story didn't even come close!) because after that debacle there was no way to pull herself out of this mess of a story. The author should've just brought in Francisco as the love interest at that point and rewritten the entire story. I'm not even sure what the point was to bring him (Francisco) up except to point out what a loose character Rosie was and that Max was too good for her! Congrats on the whole 1 star rating since I'm unable to give a 1/2 star!

So Good………… YES IT IS!

My face hurts from smiling so much and my stomach from laughing so much. This book is equal parts sexy, sweet, and fun! It’s a refreshing iced tea on a hot summer day….. it definitely hit the spot.

Nicola Rendell created a wonderful and satisfying laugh out loud best friends to lovers story. She answers the ago old questions:

♥ Can life long best friends move beyond the friend zone and make it work?

♥ Can dogs and cats be friends?

I loved everything about this book. Max and Rosie were absolutely perfect together. There wasn’t any unnecessary drama. These two acted like….. adults. Yes, I said it. Adults. It’s nice to read a book where at some point I didn’t feel the need to strangle one or both main characters. But as much as I loved Max and Rosie, Julia and Cupcake certainly stole the show.

An advanced reader copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.

Loved, but could really have done with them getting on with things at times!

The back and forth, the should we/shouldn't we of the relationship (even after they'd gotten together) was slightly annoying and could have been avoided - that's my half off!

Overall though, a terrific story, a great couple, I adored the way they spoke about each other in their minds and the way they went at it in the sex scenes was perfection - loved the bedroom banter so much!

It ends on a perfect HEA too - I'm happy! I'd read this author again : )

SOOO GOOD, yet so frustrating!

I felt like a bit of yo-yo reading this one, swinging back and forth from OMG!!! I love it!!! to grrrr!!!

OMG!!!
Firstly, Nicola Rendell is funny! I laughed out loud more times than I can count. And the scenes near the start of the novel at the bar were some of the best comedic writing I've ever read.

Secondly, Max. Gahh! Max is the best hero I've read in a long time. Completely swoon-worthy, sweet, alpha goodness. One who goes from saying things like:
"All I want to do is take care of you. Starting right now."
To doing things like:
His touch was perfect, like mine but better, and he made steady circles around my clit. Didn't experiment, didn't screw around with fancy stuff; he just gave me dependable, confident continuous spirals that made my whole reality spin like a top.
Ridiculously good.

Thirdly, the dog. Double gahh! Max rescues a Chihuahua and the way he interacts with her -holy shit - simultaneously melted my heart, exploded my ovaries, and had a silent awwww!! on my parted lips. I'm telling you, really and truly, OMG!!!

grrrr!!

To be fair, the friends to lovers trope is not my favorite, but I didn't think the author made much of of an attempt to sell me on being friends for 20 years before Max and Rosie got together. I just didn't buy it. I felt like there was a lot of info missing in their backstory, not to mention their families and jobs. I just needed more to connect with them and understand their relationship.

Then there's my practical side that I can't turn off when I read. In this one it was constantly pinging: sex on grass after a torrential downpour wouldn't be very pleasant, or saltwater makes you sticky and Max wouldn't be able to just walk around in his jeans all night, or a truck bedliner would scrape your knees if you were fucked across it.

But then there was this to smooth everything over:
His grip on my jaw was so tight, I could feel my own heartbeat against his fingers.
Sigh. My practical side can take a flying leap off a cliff, I'll definitely be checking out more of this author's work in the future!

5 SMOOCHES!

I have yet to read something by the talented Nicola Rendell that I haven’t enjoyed immensely. Incredibly, she just seems to get better with each new book that she releases. Her writing is, quite simply, romantic comedy magic. She gives me exactly what I hope for when I crack a book in this genre open, and it’s the reason why she’s fast become a favorite author of mine.

Best friends since middle school, Rosie and Max have the kind of in-sync, rare and special friendship that everyone wants. Always each other’s rocks and never once having crossed that line, a glimpse at the unexpected is all it takes for everything to snap into focus for Max. An earth-shattering kiss, followed by some soul-shattering, plaster-cracking sex seals the deal and confirms what Max has just figured out: Rosie is the one. He’s all in, he knows what he wants, but he’s got his work cut out for him. While her world has definitely been rocked and she finds herself want more, she doesn’t want to lose what she already has, so it’s up to Max to convince Rosie that they’re meant to be more than just friends.

Rendell does not shy away from sizzling hot chemistry between Max and Rosie, and I, for one, am thankful. Packed with laugh-out-loud humor, the kind back-and-forth banter born of a long friendship and tons of tender, heart-string tugging moments, Max and Rosie’s love story was as easy for the reader to fall into as it was for the characters. Their journey isn’t without a few bumps in the road, and one of those bumps was their pets: Max’s adorable, show-stealing Chihuahua named Cupcake and Rosie’s surly, overweight, aged cat named Julia Caesar. I was invested in Max and Rosie from the first page, cheering them on as I devoured this story.

So romantic, so sexy, so sweet, I loved absolutely everything about this fantastic friends-to-lovers story. I sighed, I smiled, and I swooned from cover-to-cover. I finished this book with a blush on my cheeks, a full heart and feeling happy. Nicola Rendell’s So Good gets five smooches from me.

‘Love is friendship set on fire ‘ Jeremy Taylor

Wow! Wow! Double wow’s are needed here because Max and Rosie’s friendship didn’t just catch on fire, it exploded into an inferno! Talk about bloody hot! These two burned up the pages as the chemistry between them went from zero to sixty in seconds flat!

‘With my tongue, I made her understand all the shit I hadn’t yet said. I want you. I adore you. I need to be inside you.’

Max and Rosie’s relationship became the ultimate friends to lovers’ romance. Theirs was a friendship that spanned twenty years and saw them through highs and lows, each being a shoulder to lean on, as they shared so much of their lives together. It was a friendship that saw them go through their share of hook-ups and failed relationships which never really stood a chance, because Rosie and Max couldn’t see what was standing right before them. Though, we expect Max knew he wanted Rosie way before she even realised!

‘She was so important to me, such an integral part of my world.’

After twenty years in the friend zone, things changed the day Max caught Rosie in the nuddy! Not a stitch to be had. Seeing Rosie bare naked sent a synapsis to his brain that had Max declaring her his! We could almost feel the rumble of him professing ‘mine‘ through our Kindles!

‘I fucking adored her. Adored her so hard it hurt.’

So, what happens when your friend tells you he wants you, and desperately so? Do you take the plunge at the risk of ruining the friendship or do you hold out? Well, there was no way the latter was an option once the sparks began to fly between Rosie and Max. No sirreee…..we would have combusted if they didn’t release their pent up sexual attraction! Even our Kindles would have had blue balls!

‘He was the gallon of Rocky Road I should not have. He was the box of chocolates I should not eat.’

We adore Nicola Rendell’s stories and characters, with So Good providing the perfect lazy Sunday afternoon entertainment. It was low on angst and drama and high on sweetness, sexiness, silliness and swooniness…oh the swooning, but not for the reason you would expect.

You see, as much as Rosie and Max’s romance set our pulses racing, the swoon factor was provided by one of the most sweetest, cutest, and heart-warming relationships you could imagine. It was the Dogmance between Max and the little dog he rescued, Cupcake, the Chihuahua mix who had this red blooded, possessive, dirty talking, gruff, alpha Maine carpenter turning to utter mush, and in turn turning these two avid dog lovers into complete mush! We were putty in their hands!

“….I want to be the one to treat you like you deserve.”

We’ve read everything this author has written and loved them all, and whilst So Good may not be our favourite, it still retained everything we adore about this lady’s work. Seriously, the way she weaves an animal tale into her stories lately has left us in fits of giggles and puddles of love. Being dog owners we always relate and can picture every experience she draws on as though we’re watching it unfold.

So, if you’re looking for an easy read that’ll put a huge smile on your face, a dirty talking sexy sweet alpha, a cute heroine, a savage and sassy feline named Julia Caesar, and a sweet as pie dog named Cupcake, we’re sure So Good is going to tick all those boxes!

This was a fun and enjoyable read. Friends-to lover trope that was sweet and endearing. Max Doley was described as being an alpha male but I didn't pick up on that. He had a few traits, especially in the bedroom, but I thought all round he was a good guy who finally woke up to what was in front of him. As for Rosie Madden she was a the cutest thing! Easy to laugh, caring, beautiful and oh so sweet. The two of them together was wonderful and their journey to a HEA was entertaining with a cute dog, crazy cat and life's general curveballs that made it all enjoyable.

5 FOREVER STARS!!!

YES. YES. YESSS!! Nicola Rendell is one of my all time fave romance authors. Her story lines are always original. Her heroes are always super dirty AND super swoony. Her sexy scenes are ALWAYS off the charts HOT. We are talking, have the fans ready HOT. And I always, always laugh so hard I cry.

I adored Max and Rosie's story. Friends to lovers is one of my favourite things to read and she did such a great job with this one. I fell in love with the characters including the dog and cat. I am an animal lover myself so, it was hard not to love them and their quirky cuteness!

If you are looking for a sexy, sweet and dirty romance that will make your knees buckle, then you must experience Max and Rosie's journey. It's SO GOOD.

So good.. not even close. So god damned PERFECT is how I would sum this fantastic read up.

So laugh out loud funny. So charmingly witty. So bloody cute. So touchingly tender. So sexily passionate. So explosively combustible….You get the hint lol?? Seriously, it's is without question just so damned perfect. From the first word to the very last, this friends to lovers story held me captive, I couldn't tear my eyes away from this super sexy, gorgeously funny story of Max & Rosie, the best of friends, who realise eventually, that the kind of love you read in fairytales is real & standing if front of them, where it has been all along,

These characters are the bomb. Their isn't a single thing I didn't like, not one tiny single thing I would change. Omg their humour & banter was like a drug, I couldn't get enough. It was natural, effortless & beautifully real. I could feel their connection through the words Nicola so magically used to create their world, their memories, their feelings & fundamentally, their unconditional love that overflowed from the pages.

I laughed, swooned & happy sighed through their entire transition from besties to forever loves. It was beyond comical at times & honestly the rest of the time it was a toss up between my heart or my ovaries exploding in the most epic of ways. This couple together - so so good. Max is the man of my dreams, he is the best and most beautiful kinda alpha, one who isn't afraid to show his feelings or emotions, & his happy to own them for the world to see. As for Rosie Madden - spirit animal!! OMFG she is one of my fav heroines ever. She is everything & more that I want in my leading girl & this sassy lil vixen owned it like a boss. I couldn't get enough of her, which says a lot when you crave the heroine as much as the sexily sinful mangod.

For me, Nicola has produced her best work yet, with this utterly addictive, mesmerising & heart achingly sweet rom com. Every word, scene, moment of magic, served a purpose. The angst was just perfect & didn't drag anything out unnecessarily, leaving way for just some amazingly tender, heart warmingly gorgeous, adorably funny, sweet loving between two of the most effortlessly endearing characters I have ever read.

One of my Top Reads of 2017. An absolute must read & re-read.

A friends to lovers book, featuring Max, a master carpenter, and his best friend Rosie, an children's book illustrator.

The two have been inseparable since they met as young children, but never crossed the line between friendship and something more. The book starts with an incident that changes that, and their relationship forever.

A light story heavy on the X-rated scenes, that didn't have all that much conflict .

This is the first book of the series, but there is no information regarding the next book yet.
