Jamie is having problems with the new kid in her class, who is picking on her, for no reason. Jamie looks for her teacher's help, talks to her mom, and tries hard to understand why Brad Lugsley won't stop being mean to her, and on top of all, for no reason. But things suddenly change when Jamie decides to smile at Brad, for no reason. Jamie has now a new friend.

This story approaches bullying from a different perspective. What Brad is doing is certainly wrong, and Jamie didn't do anyt

Don't you just hate when it seems like someone doesn't like you.... for no reason! It's tough as an adult, but especially as a child, bullying can be detrimental! In this Book, "For No Reason," Jamie Higgins is the victim of a bully. It was refreshing to read a story where someone is being picked on, but not really pointing out specific physical traits. Most of the books I have read with a bullying story-line focus on the physical aspects, but this one refreshingly, did not. This particular bull ...more

I chose to read “For No Reason” by Kathleen Gauer because my daughter has had a similar problem to Jamie’s with a boy in her class. In the book Jamie is being bullied by the new kid. Jamie wants the bullying to stop but she does not want to get in trouble.

I really liked “For No Reason”. When bullying is written about, it can go many ways. I was impressed with how Kathleen Gauer wrote the outcome of this story. It was a positive message, and gives children a new way to deal with being

For No Reason is one of the strongest children’s story I have read in recent times.
To begin, I must say, I love the title. It says a lot about the book. This phrase is the heart of the story. We all know this painful feeling, of being hurt for no reason. But there is more meaning to this sentence, and the author did a great poetic job, using this phrase throughout the book.
The story is about a young girl who is being bullied at school and how she finds a great solution to this. I rea

Say no to bullying. And if you see something say something.

Love it. The perfect title for the perfect book. I read this book today and absolutely enjoyed every line of every page. Such a beautiful way of addressing the issue of bullying.

As a child, I faced teasing in school but not to a great extent as others. Regardless bullying is bullying no matter how subtle it is. And if I was asked what caused the teasing—my answer would have been it was “for no reason.”

Thank you Kathleen Gauer for gifting this lovely book. It has many qualities that I appreciate in a child's story. I really love the simplicity of the text, and how easy it is to read. I also ready like the repetitiveness of the statement "for no reason." Kids love that. Brad Lugsley is such a great name for the bully, love that. The story is simple enough very young children and complex enough for older kids with lots of opportunity to expand and discuss. I really like this book and will gladly ...more
