Veronica and Stoker are back for a new thrilling adventure to face their old demon Jack the Ripper. Are you ready for another smart, entertaining, sexy, twisty ride with this fantastic couple to witness how their abilities, intelligence to solve the crimes, bringing the criminals to the justice and also reading their sizzling, undeniably growing chemistry? ( They’re historical version of Castle and Beckett, David and Maddie and less weird, more lovely version of Scully and Mulder) You know what, ...more

It feels like I've been waiting forever for this book, especially since it's been over a year since I read the previous book, but now the publication date is close to being in sight!
Finally! A title and synopsis to my favorite and truthfully only non-YA mystery/historical fiction series I follow. Can't wait to be reunited with my precious crime-solving duo =D

I've struggled quite badly with a reading slump the last couple of months and there are a lot of books I've started to read and abandoned and plenty of times have I abandoned books half-way through (if I even get that far). So, I'm not always sure it's me or the book that's the problem. Although, I have read a couple of really good books during the autumn/winter...

Anyhow, this is a favorite series of mine, I was quite looking forward to reading it and I loved to once again step into Veronica and

Listen, I already know I'm going to be an outlier on this one (again!) so you should just scroll right past this review before you get too sad about this rating.

For various reasons, the last two books in this much beloved series have just not done it for me. Book four because of what I felt were out-of-character behaviours for characters I had grown to love so much, and in book five, it's the mystery.

As for the will-they-won't-they-have-they-finally-just-got-on-with-it question, whether things

I loved this book! I think that this series just keeps getting better and better. The characters are so well done and I love the chemistry between Veronica and Stoker. I thought the mystery in this book was quite good and I liked that the story touched on the crimes of Jack the Ripper.

Here’s how good this book is: I read it through in about five hours without stopping. I truly could not put it down.

I will write a proper review closer to the March 10, 2020 publication date. Thank you Berkley and Edelweiss for this advance copy. And thank you Deanna Raybourn for writing my first favorite book of 2020.

The unsinkable Veronica Speedwell is back with her handsome sidekick of the heart, Stoker and this time out, they go undercover in an attempt to retrieve a priceless gift and ferret out if a wayward royal could be the infamous monster, Jack the Ripper. Meanwhile, bodies begin dropping like flies and Veronica finds herself neck deep in another deadly mystery, a close encounter with a royal relative and, once again, the owner of many secrets!

A Murderous Relation is a fabulous and highly entertaining addition to Raybourn’s Veronica Speedwell series. Cleverly written and chock full of witty dialogue, A Murderous Relation may be my new favorite book in this series. Raybourn delves into Veronica’s personal life and familial issues having her meet a few of her royal relatives and make some important discoveries about both them and herself. The story is full of smart twists and turns and kept me on the edge of my seat until I had turned ...more

Oh. My. Freaking. Stars.! A Murderous Relation by Deanna Raybourn is outstanding! It is engaging and entertaining and it was so difficult to put down! As usual, Veronica’s trademark wit and feisty spirit combined with kidnapping, secret scandals, murder and the shadowy presence of Jack the Ripper made this a page-turner for me!

First off, I want to start with how much I sincerely love Veronica and Stoker; their slow-burn romance has had me on edge for 4 books! To say that this is a couple who

Did I ignore my kids to survive on cereal, junk food, YouTube and Minecraft last weekend so I could inhale this book? Yes. Yes I did. Do I feel guilty about it? Nope. Not at all. Not even a smidge because I am a total Speedwell/Stoker super fan.

My husband said to me, "You know Kari- you may want to savor it since you'll have to wait a long time until the next book is published. And, well . . . I love you, but patience really isn't your strong suit." Well- listening to him wasn't my strong suit

This series is such a pleasure to read. The plots are always engaging, the heroine can be counted on to deliver her delightful brand of smart Victorian sass, and the writing is as beautifully eloquent as ever, flowing like a dream. Seriously. I don’t think I’ve ever read writing that was more suited to its genre. My oNLy gripe, and this has stuck with me since the first book, is the progression of the romance. Raybourn ... CAN YOU KICK IT UP A NOTCH PLEASE. I’m pretty sure your entire reading ...more

I LOVE THIS SERIES. Based on my own self-imposed metrics, this was a true 4-star read for me, but I’m so enamored with this world and these characters that my heart tells me it’s a five. So do with that what you will.

As far as the actual murder plot goes, I don’t think this one could live up to #4 for me (my favorite), but the overarching story being told had my heart. This one meandered a little more and I ultimately felt like it had a harder time coming together, but come together it still

    10 Stars!

Loved it so much! But I have a sneaking suspicion this might be the last book in the series because of those last paragraphs in the book (knock on wood I'm wrong).

Veronica and Stoker. What more can I say that hasn't been said about these two?

Their relationship has been developing for four books, now five. After the ending of book four, we know what they're ready for. We already know they loved each other, but they're also the most stubborn people we've met.

But the time isn't right to

Veronica Speedwell and Stoker are such a fun duo! It's always entertaining to read about their exploits. I never tire of them and plan to keep reading this series until it dies.

That being said, A MURDEROUS RELATION isn't my favorite installment in the series (I could have done very well without all the brothel scenes, thank you very much), but it's still a compelling novel that is exciting, funny, and enjoyable. If you've liked the series so far, you will like this one as well - just be warned

I tend to not like the story line revolving around the royal family. Its more than I can suspend disbelief of. However, I didn't hate this as much as with the second book.
I actually came to like Eddy.

I am very happy about the progress with their relationship although it still a long time to get to. Honestly after the harrowing events of the fourth book I really wanted to see more of the relationship blossom and possibly more

I love Veronica and Stoker so much that a book could literally be them staring at each other for 300 pages and I would enjoy it.

That being said the plot wasn't my fave. This book felt a bit repetitive at times and dragged out.

I still really enjoyed it and am hoping that the rest of the series is just as delightful and enjoyable.

I absolutely loved this book. It's one of my 2020 most anticipated. The relationship balance between Stoker and Veronica is good as ever. This is my second fav of the veronica speedwell series, I think I expected a little bit more from the Jack the Ripper side and that's the only reason it's not a 5.
