They don't have 1/2 rating is really 3 1/2 entertaining read about how every person looks differently at a situation, but the characters for the most part are stereotypical. There is an interesting secondary storyline that might teach a bit more about DACA and DREAMERS...nice for a summer read. ...more

This story is a blue-collar classic! Author Patti Liszkay presents various working-class characters, including the protagonist, Sally, who is recently divorced and taking care of her six-year-old son in Northeast Philadelphia. She meets Silvio the plumber, and from there the plot advances nicely. A fair amount of humor pervades the entire story, making it a highly entertaining romantic comedy. Secondary characters, such as Angelo the crooked business man, the seductive Trysta, and handyman Ascen ...more

I found this book to be a quick and fun read. The author has a way of pulling you into the lives of her characters and making you want to know more, even when the story has ended. The background stories were fun and you definitely get an understanding of where the title of the book comes from. The only thing I find myself wishing for is that more things were tied up at the very end of the novel. I am still giving this book five stars because I think this aspect can be very subjective. With that ...more

Liszkay scores again!

Picking up where she left off at the end of her first book (Equal and Opposite Reactions), Liszkay creates an engaging spin-off that delves deeper into the internal workings of her wide array of diverse characters. She reveals more of the connections and cross-connections among them and skillfully culminates Hail Mary with a clever ending.

Liszkay continued her run of imaginative writing and excellent character and plot development in this second book. Will there be a third?

This book has it all! Romance, politics, drama, family, divorce, immigration, and some spice! I really liked how the book explored various life problems, some that are common (the challenges of marriage, money troubles, family challenges) and others that were more of a surprise (questions on immigration, doing business with the mob, and whether to go back to an ex). I did feel some empathy for some characters that the author may not have felt empathy for, but either way there are definitely enou ...more

A rollicking good yarn about complex relationships and emotions in middle-class American culture. Cleverly plotted and exceptionally well written this part drama and part slapstick comedy, is a tour-de-force. Bravo Patti.

I really enjoyed reading this book! The characters were hilariously and perfectly flawed. The story had some really neat twists and turns, reminded me of Tom Wolfe (who I love). I would highly recommend this easy and fun read!!!

I found this book by accident but I really like it! I ended up reading this and the sequel, Hail Mary. In my opinion the best part of the book was the characters. They really seemed like real people, and I loved the way the characters' lives kept intertwining like a sitcom. Highly recommend! ...more
