I’m giving this one 3 stars because of the ending with mom. Both books are good, the second wraps up the first (mostly), and there is a good bit of action and some character growth. My only issue with the books is mom and that’s really in the second book when mom says she didn’t think she could come back to her family- that they wouldn’t want her back. I found that part unrealistic as an adult and as an adult character. I get that the author is using the moment to teach readers that you can always go back. That it’s Ok to make mistakes and you can be forgiven. But I thought it was unrealistic that the mom couldn’t and didn’t understand that but Rowan could and did. Overall, both are good books and I’d recommend them.

A satisfying end to Rowan’s adventure that she started in the first book.
